The Moment You Knew Competition

With February playing host to Valentine's Day, this competition focuses on love.

Competition Theme

Specifically, we are looking for stories which describe a moment you fell in love. The event which sparked that emotional trigger, when you knew you wanted to be with someone you loved.

Stories do not need to fall into the "love stories" category. As ever, we are looking for hot sex scenes together with the theme described.

We like to help hone our writers' skills, so as an added challenge, stories should be limited to a 6,000 word count.

Full competition details can be found here >>

This will be fun. I'm sifting through a couple of ideas already. I can't wait to read all the other entries.
Kissing your lips while straddling your lap.
This should kick start some 'veddy interesting' stories.

What a fun way to celebrate the Valentine season. Spring is just around the corner and we are looking for ways to warm ourselves up against the frigid temperatures all over the place. This will do the trick, giving us a taste of the hot loving to come.
This one is in my wheelhouse, and I even have an idea. What I may not have is time to finish it before deadline.

Still, great comp theme.

one of the comp rules is residents of Colorado are banned from entering.

You can’t truly call yourself peaceful unless you are capable of violence. If you’re not capable of violence, you’re not peaceful. You’re harmless.

I live inside my head. Yes, both my head and me reside in Colorado, but time and space are merely a construct.
What a coincidence. I am just nearing the end of a true story of when I fell in love with a man for the first time, complete with our first sex.
Hey, Nicola, you should probably put this announcement on the mobile site as well. I am not on desktop much during the week and would have missed it had I not seen your tweet. And, to be honest, my Twitter use has plummeted recently so I barely caught that.

As for the comp, it's a good theme that plays to my strengths but I'm also in a serious writing rut right now. I blame the f-ing weather. -22C on the way in to work this morning, -25C yesterday. And I had to pump gas in a -40C wind chill the other day. Twenty-seven days may simply not be enough to get something out but I'll probably try.

Also, this month marks 30 years since I met the woman I am still married to so those early days of our romance are kind of dancing around in my head right now. Though we started as friends and the romance didn't really start heating up until early Spring. But, hey, it's fiction. I can adapt things a bit.
Good point, it slipped my mind. Thanks Scott.

Congratulations on 30 years of marriage! That's quite an achievement
Good theme. Looking forward to the entries, and hopefully adding one myself. (My story for the last competition ended up going in a decidedly unerotic direction and then just fizzled out entirely in implausibility).

Don't believe everything that you read.

If time is merely a construct then my submission deep into March could be claimed to be on time in the construct in which I am living.

And I cant resist going down under on your Northerners: don't you just hate how it is always so hot on Valentine's Day, those hot sticky humid February days. But at least the beloved and I can dine at an outdoor cafe, though it doesn't do the red roses or chocolates any good at all.

Don't worry Nicola, memory lapses are common when you reach a certain age. (pause for screams of outrage. Pack bags ready for eviction from site. )
My competition entry is First Love, Young Love, a true story of our first meeting, and the start of a journey which was to last over 20 years. I started writing it three days before the competition was even announced, and had it finished on the day it was announced. Precognition maybe? Or Fate, telling me it was time the story was told? So far it seems to be attracting quite a few votes, and a lot of good comments, as it reminds the reader of their first time with their loved one.

The deadline is fast approaching.

A reminder that all stories need to meet the 10 vote minimum to qualify for the competition.

Leaving your entry to the last minute, will likely mean it won't reach that mark.

So please get your entries in sooner rather than later!
I loved this theme. When something has a strong personal meaning it isn’t hard to be inspired. This one was fun to be a part of.

The Wild Girl anthology need not be read in any order but does take place in the following timeframe

Wild at Heart- 1968. The story of Dani’s Great Aunt Evie.

Wild Oats. Part 1&2. -2021. Dani is 16 and sets her sights on her stepfather.

Wild Child. 2025. Dani is now 20 years old.

Seconding Milik. Even if you aren't writing your own story (and I did not though I toyed with it at first), it's a wonderful, inspiring theme.
