Does lush track people who get blocked?

After helping a friend delete a "friend" and block him for his inappropriate behaviour, I was wondering if lush tracks how many times a person has been blocked by other members, and hands out suspensions based on that. (maybe two weeks off for every 10 times you get blocked?) If something like this is not already in effect, it could cut down on the creepiness that women have to deal with here on lush.
great idea, Jebru!

I know for a fact that there are a few people (not just guys) who are blocked by a number of people.

then again, just to play devils advocate, let's say i don't like Jebru, or i get in a fight with him - i tell all my friends to block him just to get him suspended. it's not so far fetched. not saying it's not a good idea, but be aware of how it could be mis-used.

You can’t truly call yourself peaceful unless you are capable of violence. If you’re not capable of violence, you’re not peaceful. You’re harmless.

I must agree with Sprite that would be too easy to abuse
just had a stray thought - everytime Damon posted in the Think Tank, he'd have to take the next 2 weeks off, more then likely. smile

I have to agree with you. People can be very childish sometimes. Especially people in the chat rooms who seem to have running feuds

both - in the past i've definately seen one or two of those chat room fueds going on. not so much lately, but when i first joined, i recall it happening regularly enough to take notice of.

both(smiles) and this wasn't directed at anyone in particular...I'm sure I've been blocked too

I like this open discussion on things like this ....

There are definitely conflicts of personalities amongst some members. It's a shame when people just can't the high road .... but there is still some validity to tracking those that seem to be blocked. Perhaps not for a suspension, but as a flag for the moderators/admin on who "seems to be" the sh!t disturbers.

Cheers!

I think Van's right, maybe its another indicator in a moderators tool belt, not for public consumption.

Then again, a Blocked Leader-board does sound a cool idea

And all this time, I thought you were simply worried about how close to that suspension barrier you might be, by now.

hahahaaa...really, i like you :)
With all due respect, there is always going to be a bit of a creepy factor potential. This is a sex site, after all, not facebook. I'm surprised that harassment appears to be such an issue though. Maybe I'm lucky, but I've actually never had to block anyone before.

Of course, it's always good to be aware of how one presents their profile. I'm not saying this is the case in all situations, but if you have lots of naked pics of yourself being double teamed, with cum dripping down your face and clothespegs on your nipples, chances are you might attract a few perverts and stalkers.

As for the feuding issues, I really can't offer any advice on needing to block anyone there. Everyone loves me.

I have never even been threatened with a suspension, so why would I be worried about that?

A blocked leader-board? That might give some people something to strive for...

How can you tell if someone blocks you anyway? You can no longer chat with them only, or is there more?
Do you get notified if somebody blocks you?
I don't think I've ever been blocked...but, not really sure...

If they block you but don't remove you as a friend, you will see the notification that they come online, but not be able to see them online. Other than that, it depends on their settings for their profile. You might not be able to see things you could before, and you will never see them as showing online, despite their profile telling you they have been online that day.

If they were never your friend to begin with though, it would be virtually impossible to tell if you have been blocked.

That was my first thought. 'Geeze, Jeb's really put a lot of thought into this.'

I keep my friends list very short, essentially only the people I talk to. So back in May when I noticed the message for one of my friends being online, but never actually saw them showing as being online, I figured it out. Once I deleted her from my friends list, she basically did not exist from my profile's perspective.

And yes, I notice a lot of the little quirks of how this place runs, and how people act.

OK ... I went away and thought about this scenario you have created here.

1. Why would you BLOCK a FRIEND? Does that even make sense?? If you don't want a friend, you delete them, not block them ... or maybe someone should enlighten me on how friends work.
2. Not everyone has their status set to online, or even away - therefore, they will always show as offline (and for a fact, a number of people are like that, as they don't want PMing constantly).
3. I can only agree with your last statement. One cannot tell who has blocked them.

The point of your initial statement has merit as an Admin tool ... unless Gav really loves the idea of the Blocked-Whore-of Lush .... maybe that's me!!

Van
People I've talked to, add "friends" all the time without talking to them, and then occasionally learn they have added a creep and block them, leaving them as a friend because they don't realize how to eliminate them. That wasn't the case in my situation. My situation was a disagreement with someone, and the block was warranted. She was still on my friends list, so I confirmed the block by checking out her profile, and found that I could not view anything that her friends could normally view. It's really not a situation that normally happens, since you would generally delete the person from your friends list, though maybe some assume that blocking them would automatically remove them from their friends list as well. It's a quirk in the system, which gav may have noticed between May when I discovered it, and now.
Btw, I see your point...I happen to be very selective as to who I add as friends as well...
In fact, as a rule I only add women with hot pictures, people who read my stories, people I chat with, women with hot pictures, people who comment on my stories, people I've known a while, other authors, women with hot pictures, other people from New Jersey, other Pisces, women with hot pictures, other Lush members and lastly, women with hot pictures...

I can see your point about not wanting to remove friends from your friend's list though...makes it harder to find the hot pictures...

Successfully blocked jebru. They are still your friend, they can contact you but they cannot see you online. To block them completely, delete them as a friend.

When you block a friend, you will see this message at the top of the page. I was asked to add this feature so that you could go online without being nagged by certain friends. This allows you to ghost in friends, without having to go through the whole Dear John explanation of why your deleting them.

I'm assuming Alan doesn't have this problem; girls with hot pictures rarely annoy you when going online

Gav, can you just confirm... when you 'soft-block' a friend, can they still see you in the forums when you go into a thread? I believe that even when one is in 'invisible mode' right now, your name still shows up at the bottom of forum sections when you are in there. Just wondering if the same is true for people we put on 'soft-block'?

Thanks!

I'm afraid so, yes. The forum software shows the members viewing a thread, thats outside of my control. The list at the bottom of the forum home page plus members online are all under my control, so the soft-block is enforced.

Hope this helps.

Yes, it makes sense. You add somebody, they annoy you greatly or maybe even creep you the fuck out, then you block them. Maybe some are super-selective, and thus this would not occur. But for many, it does. Then, of course, you delete them from your friend list. Yes, you can stay on 'friends-only' and delete them. It's six of one, half-dozen of the other, at least as far as I can tell.
