People who give low scores on stories and not post their names.

I think anyone who gives a low score on any story, should have to have their names posted, as to why they don't think the story is worth a higher score. My self I believe a person should get at least a 3 for posting a story and if you enjoy it or what ever, you should score higher. If I don't think a person should get at least a 4 I do not score, as there is a lot of work to get a story published here on lush, A lot harder then other sites.

Kind of in agreement with you, although I do feel that people should be able to score a story with a degree of anonymity if they so wish. Although the actual score does not, the names of the people that score and comment on your story do show in your timeline, so if you're watching that and there are not too many all at once you can more or less tell who left which score - if it matters that much.
We're pretty fully in agreement about lower scores though. If I read a story through to the end, it was good enough to capture and hold my attention which means it is at least a 4 and probably a 5, in my mind. If a story was bad enough to draw anything lower I wasn't enjoying it and probably didn't finish it, and thus have no right or credibility in leaving a score.

There are too many good stories here to spend time reading one I'm not enjoying - and yet that person put time and effort into writing that story, and it very likely appeals to others; that I didn't like it is irrelevant, and if I didn't read the entire thing any score I might post must also be irrelevant. So I don't!
I (almost) hesitate to answer this because it seems like trolling.

To me this feels dangerously like getting a trophy for participation.
I don't, (NEVER!) vote less than 3...

(If I don't like it at least that much I just don't vote...)

Now, IN THE PAST I have commented on stories I really don't like!!! (But I won't VOTE on those...) I'll comment honestly if I STRONGLY DISLIKE a story, but I don't agree with voting DOWN a story that's been deemed by The Mod Team good enough to post. (I WILL comment on a PERSONAL TAKE...) But I DON'T vote ones or twos because I don't think that's very helpful, encouraging or indeed kind...

Incidentally, I HAVE received SEVERAL very low scores and almost ALWAYS from people who KNOW ME and who I know... (And, I'll DEFEND my pieces BUT I respect those who say, "This just DOES NOT WORK for me and here's why...") I might not AGREE with the criticism but I WILL accept it.

I'm always personally really disappointed when I get even a HIGH vote but with no comment!!! (I ALWAYS leave a comment when I vote!) I'm NOT THAT CONCERNED with the NUMBER of votes I get but I LOVE when people comment. (It's what we get here instead of applause!!!)

When I see on my Timeline that BUTTON_MOP42 has voted on one of mine, AND I LOOK, and it's obviously been a FIVE vote!!! (I always think... 'Oh! WHY did you LIKE IT??? You SHOULD have left a comment!') I've got to know A LOT of people through the comments they've left on my stuff. (Because you can RESPOND to a comment!)

xx SF
I find it very disrespectful and distasteful. That is one reason I feel a change needed in the scoring system. I look at comments and not the number of views and when I receive a score, "I do like to know who gave it." In saying that, 'we' writers spend time doing what we love and when someone tosses a one or two, we have a right to be pissed. If the story is deserving a one or two, then it should never have passed the mods.
people are way too hung up on scores. that's just an opinion. btw, if any of you fucks give me less than a 6 on my next story, i will come to your house and piss on your rug. thus, have i spoken.

Why don't they just put this to bed and change the votes to anonymous. All the other sites are that way.

I put my stories on lots of websites. Some score very low and some are scored very high. On those sites I don't know who is reading my stories.

All you see is views and scores. Some sites are only views.

The scores really only generate the top stories and poems on Lush. That's all it really does. Maybe every hour 10 stories that are on the front page could show on the top stories. They could rotate each hour or every half hour so everybody gets a turn on the Top stories.

I think if you just change this once and for all then all this bickering will finally stop.

Just my 2 cents.

Yes.... Thinking Sprite has it right! Why score? Why no have a pass / fail? I use to score and comment on stories and then simple stopped when "others" started telling my that "my score" was so WRONG!!!! Really? Who's score is it? Are there "rules" as to what these numbers stand for?
As I see it.... if a story is posted, it has already been:
1) Approved topic wise, for what is accepted within Lush standards.
2) Rewritten, if needed, to correct the most obvious in poor writing skills
3) Most likely received some type peer review, with persons of shared interest or style

Given all that.... Why not give a "1" or a "2" if I really don't "get it".... if it does not flow well or if say, its too trampy? Why not be truthful.... Some story lines start out with great intentions and then fall apart in the effort to "get done", describe sex or even simply, runs too long.... too many chapters... loss of energy.
Why is a reader "owed no less then a three"?
To be truthful... "false positives" are more dangerous to a writer's progress then if a true score is given! Some keep writing "crap" when they otherwise have some outrageously great story-lines!
To me, I'd be more worried about my story being "viewed" 10,000 times, but only received 20 comments and a few hundred "half-hearted" 3+! That likely means.... the readers didn't get it and felt too sad to "SCORE"

(If you really want feedback, I'll try reading your stuff and send you a personal review via mail! That, is how I resort to giving feedback.... Good, Bad, or Ugly....LOL)

P.S. I think everyone who posted here should get an "A+" for having courage to do so!!! Or a gold star.... or a coupon for free coffee... of a free pass for self indulgence, in a manner we each choose!

If I give you a 1, will you piss on me? I'd really hate it, honest!

Why not join my popular Lush Group One Tit Out Group | Lush Stories? For all those who enjoy pictures of women showing just one boob. Lots of cheeky flashes and accidental slips. Come on, you know you want to! Annie xxx

If I give you a 1, will you piss on me? I'd really hate it, honest!

Hmmm , Some Pay extra for that!!
I only give 2 people low scores on their 'contributions' because I think they need to know the truth and make more effort. After all someone who is intent on becoming a good author will accept constructive criticism and act accordingly. I will *not* mention names however one cant cook a pizza without incinerating it and the other has a cat called Leo.

well, only if you really hated it - i mean, i'd hate to go to all that trouble and find you enjoyed it... ;)

People are too hung up on scores. Consistently having high scores often means that you just have lots of friends. However, having a very high score also means your you get views. You show up on the top author list for the last 31 days. Your story might be listed as a top story for the last 31 days.

Getting a single 4 or 3 will not only remove you from those boards, but will drop you several pages back on the all time lists. It is the presence of those list that drives many to become so concerned. It is the one reason I want my scores to be high. I don't care if my score is a five, but I do care if no one can find my work three days after its posted. Writing becomes pointless if no one is actually reading it anymore.

Maybe we should just do away with those all time lists. Continue to list by publishing date and category, maybe push the authors index more. That should reduce the actual, real world impact of scores.

The Wild Girl anthology need not be read in any order but does take place in the following timeframe

Wild at Heart- 1968. The story of Dani’s Great Aunt Evie.

Wild Oats. Part 1&2. -2021. Dani is 16 and sets her sights on her stepfather.

https://www.lushstories.com/stories/taboo/wild-oats-part-2

Wild Child. 2025. Dani is now 20 years old.

I know in my case I only have about 198 friends. Most of those friends don't even read my work.

The views mean you get read. I have 5 million views and my fans come out to read my work. Surely, they're not high end stories, however my readers like them. I have 39 famous stories, 1 legendary story and stories in 39 categories. My stories are porn. People tell me they jerk off to them. I mean that is why most people come and read the stories. They aren't looking for novels or high end literature. They're looking for fun stories that are wild and naughty. They like them short so they can read a few when they are here.

I write on 5 websites and have about 9 million total views to my stories and poems. People just follow my work. I'm just your run of the mill writer. I'm nobody special. I'm not a high end writer, nor do I want to be one. I do have views, which means I have readers. I am grateful for my readers and let them know when they read me by way of a thank you note. We're here to be read.

Scores just help get stories to the Top Lists.....Views always carry more weight. I think the top stories and poems should be rotated. This way every writer gets a story there. The scores are what generates those stories.

I know in my case, I have worked hard for my 5 million views. I love to write and I have an audience. I have 540 stories and poems.

It's about quality, in my eyes

I've just posted one. It's very important to me, because it's a true story. I don't care who reads it, I just hope that those who read it like it. They might not get off on it, but that wasn't the intention....so yeah, score what you think it is. I want you to score it highly, but if it's not worth a high score then I don't want it
People like different stories, so score differently. Ok saying that got my first non 5 score!(Still a youngling on here though) As writers it is always good to have feedback as to why people did not like it I think. It maybe that is was not their 'cup of tea', so go and drink coffee but let me know why!!!
everyone is looking for something different. some want something to get themselves off with. some want something deeper. there's thousands of members here and as many tastes - i like to think that, no matter who you are, you can find something that excites your senses.

No, I agree with you. Everything can't be a 5. It makes it lose its meaning.
I try to be as honest as possible, sometimes I get nasty email back and that is just sad.... Happy to say most writing here gets a good score...

My husband just recently posted some of his best stuff on on other site. I was blown away bu the amount of low scores and perverse comments. Down right gross. Like: "this is the shittest story I've ever laid my eyes on. I wish you would just crawl under a rock as die." That was one of the nicer comments.

Anyway, he is so sorry he posted there. The community here assists new authors in remarkable ways. I am a novice author but have found tons of support here.

there's a competative site that is known for that - Dancing Doll posted some of her earlier stories there and got called all sorts of names and even threatened - i would rather see inflated scores on stories that we see here then to see our authors treated like that on a regular basis.

I'm probably alone with this feeling... But I used to love my negative comments on that site. Some people are hilarious.

for someone confident with their ability, yeah, i would have to agree, but for people who are still learning how to write, still figuring it out, it can be a morale killer. also, some remarks might hit a bullseye unerringly - not so much an issue for male writers, but perhaps some of the female writers might not take such comments with the same sense of humor.

Do you believe that anyone who posts a high score should be forced into having their names posted as to why the don't think the story is worth the lower score?

Also, forced commenting is an option all authors on Lush can use.

Cowards. Give a comment, what didn't you like. I know there are interpersonal issues here just like anywhere else, but one can always hope that we can act our age... My 2 cents worth...

*Shrugs* the other side of that is, you read a story, you think it sucks, you feel like you already wasted 15 minutes of your life and you don't feel like wasting another 2 minutes writing comment when you could simply hit a 2 and go read something worthwhile.
