We've received a few messages lately about person X annoying person Y, or ABC ganging up on D to say mean things or bully them.

If someone is bugging you, you pretty much have two options. Ignore them or block them. We've put blocking mechanisms in place to help you manage your experience here. This is an adult site. It is the internet. People will annoy you. This is not a reportable offense.

We are not your parents, your teachers or your employers. We are all here voluntarily and Gav has spent time developing tools for you to use to block people. Please use them.

Seconded. I've never had to block anyone here but I've happily used equivalent functions on other sites. Quickest and best way to get someone out of sight, out of mind.

Now, where can I get one of those for real life?
I have Nicola blocked...

Me too!
This post has been hidden as you have blocked Sprite.

Don't forget to sat 'Hi'

Here's the real problem... those who "claim" they have blocked someone are still quoting them. It's no secret that if you respond to a forum post and the person you've blocked is within the last 10 posts you can see what they have said. Plus, if Person X who has Person Y blocked quotes them, it honestly defeats the purpose of the block. I can site real examples, but I'm sure the Mods are well aware of this.

When the block extended to forum posts, several of us made a handful of requests, some that were enacted.

1) If you have someone blocked and said person quotes you on the forum, their quotes don't appear on your timeline. This Gav did quickly address and it solved a shit-load of problems. Thank you again for this Gav.

2) Make the block a bit stronger so the person you block can't see or respond to you either similar to the way Facebook has done it. I have been politely told this isn't feasible or won't happen. Well, that was 2-3 years ago and to be honest, we're seen too many people work around the current blocking system and clog up the forums with a shit-load of nonsense.

#2 has been suggested before, but perhaps it should be looked at again. Then it would answer the question once and for all if Person X really has blocked Person Y or not. I know non-Mods can't block Mods and for the most part that's fine. To be honest, there aren't any that I'd currently want to block at this point... though Sprite does often push her luck.

Either way... it would be nice to see the block function used and used properly.
I really don't think anything else needs to change other than people growing up a bit. If the block doesn't work then refer to my 'ignore' comment.

If people are actually quoting, scrolling down to read someone they have blocked (whether intentional or not) and choosing not to ignore, then refer to my 'growing up' comment.

End of.

If they tried to implement #2 the forum wouldn't make any sense, genius.

How about adults not having mental breakdowns over things that are said on the internet. On an unimportant and anonymous site, mind you.

Unimportant and anonymous sex site. It’s weird. Damn weird. But the mental breakdowns never cease right amuse. Look at it as free entertainment I guess.

I use it and I'm better off. Some people are just going to piss you off no matter what. but at least here, you can make a couple of clicks and block them.

Edit--and it's funny reporting members.
I should also mention that you can manage what PMs you receive in your settings. Please consider using this function

Except that people aren't "growing up a bit." People aren't ignoring what is being posted and/or they're over riding the blocks. I mean, isn't that the purpose of this thread? What I brought up were legitimate issues that certain members have been abusing for a long time and I'm sure the Mods are growing tired of said issues. I realize what I said wasn't very popular and certain members don't agree... well... that's fine. But when you start a thread like this addressing the issues that have been plaguing this site for a long time, it's seems redundant.

BTW... the block I suggested will only impact the person who is blocked and the blocker in question. If say, Member Q has no one blocked, then they won't be affected and the forums will look normal. I'm guessing those who are blocked are the ones most concerned. They seem to thrive on shit-stirring.

I literally don't even know what point you're trying to make now. The purpose of this thread was to advise what to do if someone was annoying you, because we've received a number of contact-us queries about it.

What I'm saying is ignore them, block them or change your settings so you don't get PM's from randoms. It's fairly simple.
Fuck that. Meet them by the bike racks after school, and kick their ass.

Don't believe everything that you read.

I understand the purpose of this thread, but you are missing the sheer fact that there are certain members (and if you want I'll PM their screen names to you) who not only ignore this, but have bragged on forum threads that they work around the blocks.

I also read every response here and the person who said the forum threads wouldn't make sense is whining because then they wouldn't see what those who have them blocked are saying. If the block was extended, then only those blocked and those doing the blocking would be affected.

Thus, if a member has no one blocked, then they won't be affected. If a member has someone blocked, then that person wouldn't see the posts from the person they have blocked and the person they blocked won't see what they post either (unless someone quotes them.) You do understand the bulk of the issues stem from the forums.

You posted this thread because you had stated the Mods were getting complaints. In fact, you said...

Wouldn't strengthening the block save you Mods from getting these complaints? The request for members to act like adults has clearly fallen on deaf ears. Perhaps now it's time to do something different.

People can complain til the cows come home for all I care. Unless it's an actual reportable offence, they will most likely get directed here, explaining to them how we expect adults to manage their experience here.

If they choose not to, that's on them.

I said when this whole block thing started happening that the babies would just want more and more and more because Obviously nymph is talking about herself... She is the one that blocks people then still reads what they say anyway. It's really weird. I totally predicted that if you give them a block that it wouldn't be enough. That they would just find something else to cry about.

Give a mouse a cookie...

What this bozo wants is to have the ability to delete anything or any member that says or does anything she doesn't like. She will never stop crying until that is what she gets. I mean she just said she wanted to send you a list of names... It's just basically a list of people she doesn't like and she once again will ask that they be dealt with. What a shithead.

You're going to have someone waste hours and hours of their precious time to do whatever nymph asks for next over and over again simply because she can't just be a grown up and ignore things she doesn't like. She fundamentally misunderstands what a message board is. This isn't facebook (where she has admitted to blocking multiple people as well, guess the world is crazy and not her), last I checked facebook doesn't have a forum. This is an anonymous message board. How the hell are you supposed to have a coherent message board when you have people responding to threads they can't see half of?

What she wants is the forum to be made up of 15 people or so that she approves of... Tell her to go make a group (you tell her because she supposedly can't see this post ) that she can post her thoughts in and only the people she approves of can respond. I mean that's what she wants. She wants the forum to be her personal group. Well, lush already has that... she can go make a group and have her very own little tea party in it.

This has been discussed before. If you block someone and are no longer seeing their posts, you are altering your own experience on Lush by restricting what you can and can't see. If this block extended to restricting what the blocked person sees as well, you're affecting someone else's Lush experience without their consent.

The block feature is what it is, and can be used or not as people see fit.

It seems that it's the Mods who are doing the bulk of the complaining. I mean, what else would this thread be for? You know which members can't behave like adults. I get some love the entertainment value of the bickering and fighting, but if you're going to post a thread like this, you can't act surprised when those who do the lion's share of reporting don't read or care about this.

I knew this would be the response.

My purpose was to bring to your attention the flaws in the block that continue to cause problems that prompted a thread like this. If keeping other person who is blocked from seeing the posts of the person who blocked them is too much to ask for (which clearly it is) then maybe fixing it so that the get-arounds I mention can be addressed.

Believe it or not, my purpose in posting what I did was to help reduce the bullshit and drama. I don't care if any of you believe me or not.

Lol. What?

>Which 'mods' are complaining? None of the messages we've received are from mods.
>This thread was posted for information and to have somewhere else we can direct people to.
> Everyone else took it in the manner it was intended until you turned it into some bizarre rant about people overriding blocks whilst indicating you're one of the people who does it. So I will kindly refer you to earlier points in my thread. Block anyone who irritates you and be it on your own head if you don't.

What part of "get directed here" did you miss?

There is no flaw in the block, other than perhaps when other people quote the person one has blocked (if that's still the case). The problem is the people not using it (properly).

The block feature can be used for any reason, not just to prevent drama/bullying. What if person A just doesn't like the pics that person B tends to post in chat rooms or some of the threads? Should person B therefore be punished by a less than optimal forum experience? Of course not. It's a block feature, not a punish feature. And this is also the world wide web. Posting on it has certain risks. If adults can't handle that they should probably not post on the web.

We are currently reworking the block feature to incorporate 12 levels of blocking. We hoping this makes it easier to use.

Will you also create a 12-step program for members on how to deal with the sex site meanies whose stuff I keep seeking out even though I keep saying I’ve blocked them?

Will settle for the 12 steps of how to escape childhood.

I hope one of those levels is blocking like it's now, but with a show option for each blocked post, as that seems to be feature that many people would really want to use.

though not set in stone yet, this is the likely list of what you'll be seeing.

1) the self block - for those of us who have a habit of getting stoned out of our heads and then doing a lot of late night posting. saves you the embarrassment of reading them and thinking 'what the fuck?'

2) the Fuck you block - automatically blocks anyone who has you blocked.

3) the far right block - you tired of righties muttering about guns, Trump, immigration and... well, guns? this will block anyone who identifies with the far right.

4) the far left block - tired of lefties muttering about guns, Trump immigration and... well, guns? this will block anyone who identifies with the far left.

5) the NO MEN block - this will block all male members. perfect for guys pretending to be lesbians.

6) the pure fecking boot block - this will block anyone who annoys Jen. i foresee it getting a lot of use.

7) the i don't need no stinking badges block - this will block anyone with 10 or more badges.

8) the Mooseboy/Moosegirl block - blocks all Canadians.

9) the NO ONE TELLS ME WHAT TO DO - tired of listening to the mods BS? this will block all mods.

10) the you ain't the boss of me block - only usable by mods. blocks all of Nicola's posts.

11) the i know you are but what am i block - blocks anyone acting like they're still in High School.

12) the i have a goddamned headache listening to you motherfuckers bitching about everything block - only usable by sprite. blocks every single post on the entire site.

You can’t truly call yourself peaceful unless you are capable of violence. If you’re not capable of violence, you’re not peaceful. You’re harmless.

Making sure it is understood that I hate sycophancy with a passion I still must say this is fucking brilliant, Rachel.

But all of these come with the feature I described I hope, or else it'll be just a waste of Gav's time I'm afraid.
