I'm not really all that offended Danielle. Like I said, I felt annoyed that the initial response was negative rather than consultative (i.e. discussion rather than disregarding there may be any issue), but ok. My suggestions were a bit too prescriptive and I would have done better to ask for suggestions rather than to suggest. Lesson learned.

Next time I'll ask "Do you see any issues with X?" and if you do then what do you suggest could be done about it?

I'm a professional consultant in the arena of process improvement, so I guess I got a bit carried away with my knowledge of the field. Sorry for that.

GW.

Nice train wreck, BTW VanGogh.

Now this I understand.

But given your professional background, one would expect some decorum...or at least a bit of self control. You weren't attacked, but you perceived anyone disagreeing with you as such. Your credibility was ruined the second you used personal insults. Apology or no apology, it's gonna be hard to get that back. Know what I mean?

Earlier when I told you to develop a thicker skin, it wasn't me being vindictive. It was a healthy bit of advice. This site has over a quarter of a million members, and although you think you have a great idea, what others have to say is very important. If you wanted something constructive take place, you could have easily facilitated that...instead you chose a different route.

But luckily, a lesson can be learned from just about any situation. And I hope this thread has served its purpose in that regard.

Danielle,

The language you use is suggestive that you know better than me. To me, that is offensive. You are not above me, nor me above you. Please keep things on an even keel.

Respectfully,

GW.
Did someone suggest we try this again?

I don't understand this issue. I find Lush to be a very friendly environment. I've had a few people who didn't like my stories. Hell sometimes I don't like them either. If you really want crazy try Literotica. Two days ago I got an email that said, "I hope you and your wife die and your children grow up as orphans. Now that's negative feedback.

Must have been the same asshole who sent me two harassing emails with bogus emails as in " " or " " telling me I couldn't write or take criticism and that I needed to drop dead. Or something like that... I deleted the emails after I reported them to Literotica... and for the record... they did NOTHING about it.

At least if I got that kind of hate mail here, Lush would at least address it & take it seriously.

Sob all you won't...your tears won't move her. She's stingy about that damn gum.

Just do what I do: Deprive her of all things sparkly until she relents. She'll practically be begging you to take that gum.

I'm wondering why I've got gum stuck to the inside gusset of my underpants.

Could it be Weekender's been chewing down there in my sleep again?

Did I fall asleep? Sorry! The level of intellect was intriguing but not quite enough to keep me stimulated. I might need Buz's anal probe after all...

I chopped some Z's off your post, it was messing with my screen.

What was the question again? Oh yeah. I think it's all been said already, but anything that would discourage new members from staying, i.e. jumping through hoops in order to prove themselves 'legitimate', would be counterproductive.

Our moderating team is growing all of the time and we do a pretty good job at keeping on top of the trolls. If it ever becomes a serious problem, then I'm sure this could become a topic to revisit.
The general opinion on this thread is that the current system the volunteer mods use for dealing with trolls is working. It's ok to say let's have some kind of proactive system to sort troublemakers or encourage them to move on, but what defines a "troll", where is the line drawn and how do you deal with one to fix the problem?

but what defines a "troll"......

Hope this helps!

In Internet slang, a troll is a person who sows discord on the Internet by starting arguments or upsetting people,[1] by posting inflammatory,[2] extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community (such as a newsgroup, forum, chat room, or blog) with the deliberate intent of provoking readers into an emotional response[3] or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.[4]

Hmm... I might use that move. I think finding her someone to spank... or just flashing her a glimpse of the girls would do the trick too

This seems to be a habit of yours within this thread towards anyone with the gall to question/disagree with you.

If your 'my thread, my sandbox' statement is any illusion to your mentality, then it's no wonder your idea has raised this number of questions.

To put it frankly, I don't like your attitude regarding how you treat people raising legitimate concerns. Debating is one thing. Belittling people for not bending to your will is quite another.

I'm not saying you have to agree with everyone, or anyone or that matter. But if you can't do so without coming down on the person for having the gall to have an opinion, then I will personally shut down your sandbox (because I can do that).

This is a forum, where discussions take place. Their opinions and ideas are just as relevant as yours. Despite the fact that this is your thread sharing your idea(s) for the site, this is not your barrel of fish, and you do not hold the loaded gun in this scenario.

*thumbs up*

No one is here to be your rubber stamp, and they do not deserve what you've dished out to them thus far simply for disagreeing with you.

Please keep that in mind going forward.

Side note: In the future, perhaps you'll be better off contacting admin directly if you don't like being disagreed with on a large scale...or until you develop a thicker skin. Whichever comes first.

loved ur post

Oh my gosh!! To quote my favorite fictional news anchor, 'that escalated quickly'. **Note to self: do not join other erotic story sites, for fear of death threats
I'm sorry you had such a negative thing said to you!

On a note more towards this thread...

I disagree, I think my comment is very germane to this thread. If I understand it correctly, the objective of this discussion is how to better control the trolls at this site. My point was that this site does an admirable job of controlling trolls and I gave an example of what happens at a site that doesn't work to control them. There will always be some people who choose to be inappropriate. This site tries hard to weed them out as quickly as possible. That's why I post my stories here. There are other writers who are here for the same reason.

Actually, being that she is a mod, she is "above you", in the sense that she can do things that you are unable to do, like lock down this thread. You seem to have some serious insecurity issues relating to power structures. Find help.

I totally get what you're saying and I appreciate the support, but I don't think I'm above anyone here. I don't think any of us (mods) see ourselves that way, and that's definitely not the kind of rapport we want to have among general membership.

We're members just like any other member and we're held to pretty much the same standards as everyone else. We just happen to volunteer for the place, and we get a few extra buttons to make sure things don't get too far gone. It comes with a bit of authority, but it's something that technically anyone could do.

Now here's to hoping this thread continues amicably.

fuck you, Ms. Sassy Pants. *moons you* there. don't know about you, but I feel better now.

You can’t truly call yourself peaceful unless you are capable of violence. If you’re not capable of violence, you’re not peaceful. You’re harmless.

The original proposal reeked of the farmyard for me.
The best way to deal with bullies is to stare into their eyes whilst kicking them in the balls (usually men you see).
The best way to deal with trolls is to ignore them, or if eloquent enough use the crushing elegant put down technique so ably demonstrated by some earlier in this thread.
Actually despite not being here very long, I do not see evidence of the free flowing bile that runs through some other on line communities.
Sling any of that in my direction and the ordure will be distributed by centripetal force.

So then by that definition, a second person entering a counter statement or idea, that the first person responds to feeling frustrated, challenged or in any other way, feels that his original statement has in the least way been stepped on, could claim "foul", and have 2nd person vanished.lSx2RwsJpveBab3I

the same action then could be taken against someone who posts any type of sideline comment, pic, joke, or even a gesture of laughter towards anyone else could be voted off the island.... o.k,,,,

I don't think that your scenarios describes the work of a troll, so in my book, no!
“When one door closes, another opens; but we often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door that we do not see the one which has opened for us.”
How about this. Someone posts on a thread. A regular post not disagreeing with anyone just putting forth their opinion, and someone else comes along, quotes the first person then proceeds to tell the first person they are wrong, followed by a string of expletives, name calling such as bitch or even worse or some such and makes a habit of doing this to the same one or several people regularly? Is that a troll and how do you deter someone like that? Obviously not everyone is going to show trolling habits as soon as they become a member so you can't identify them then so trying to vet them at the beginning of membership is probably going to be futile. It might stop the multiple account holders though AND that's going to take up a hell of a lot of someone/s time to do that. So probably not the best plan of action. Don't ask me what is because I wouldn't have a clue sorry.

Thanks for responding... in doing so, LOL we shared of expressed the same "question"..... me in my simplified statement... you in saying... "I don't think...."

the whole question in a perception based issue.... forcing a person or a group to have to "assess" to what degree each comment of posting is acceptable. WE all typically know when someone is over the line.... even in our own postings... I know that as I get ready to respond here, I read over my comment several times and I "know" my intent!
As a self proclaimed "class-clown" type person (does it show? ), I often try using humor to poke question or even distract from the direction a series of posting has been going! to me.... its no difference to saying "really?.... really.... Really?" (LOL .... that seamed to pock more then a few in the eye, once!) causing such a stir that I pulled all my posts on that issue.... Funny.... many told me privately.... they agreed with my question but were afraid to raise a counter opinion... let alone post it.
But I moved on.....
Most agree here... because most of us have "tried lived elsewhere in the CyberWorld....." and choose to move here... this is one of the best social setting.... one of the better operated... and organized... and monitored... and despite a few "trolls" or a few incident of "troll like behavior" (which, like stepping in dog droppings) we all slip into on occasion...LOL... most are able to pull self up... dust off, and move on....
Even some of my own silly thoughts need addressed on occasion... I thank those who "tap me on the shoulder" b pointing it out!!

Love it!
