I think being critical and honest about it is a good thing. It's the only way to make things better in my mind. Not making your critique personal or taking it personally is key though. And that can be hard, especially online. Sometimes we just don't try hard enough, and that's just too bad.
Anyway, we have this new feature that, I'm sure, Gav has put a lot of work in. Let's be critical about it, find its weak spots, bugs and (UX) annoyances and see if we can help to improve on them. It's here, now let's make it better!
To be honest it's not entirely clear to me either what it is exactly that the groups will add to Lush and how they will relate to the forum sections, with which they share a lot of functionality of course. Will it increase activity on Lush as likeminded folks will find it easier to find each other, or will it decrease activity cause the site now has more corners and alleys where exciting stuff might be happening without people knowing about it. I assume the former is intended and I guess that Nicola and Gav have a clear vision about how that should work out. Would love to hear some more about that actually. But I probably just have to wait and see how that will turn out to get the concept clear in my head.

If you're referring to the posts that are in this thread... then you are being rather thinned skinned. Both Liz and Dani addressed your "concerns" over something you honestly blew out of proportion. Yes, Liz did mention her "bitch filter", but so what? You were being pretty snarky yourself. Liz paraphrased you and also used some humor to try to show you how silly you were being only for you to get your panties in a knot. Sprite's right... it's not Liz who's coming off as a bitch. If anything... Liz addressed you with a lot of class... which is more than can be said for your responses to Liz and Sprite.

Sorted - Can we get the little toolbar (youtube + image links) above the text box on the 'Start New Discussion' page also?
Sorted - Perhaps re-jig the size of the group boxes (div class="group-summary") to show a little more of the summary.
@BiMale73 (I knew I could count in your keen eye)
Sorted - When creating/editing a group the description for the banner image says it should be able to repeat vertically. That should be horizontally (even in Australia).
Sorted - Markdown legend: it says that *text* should become bold, but you need **text** for that. *text* becomes italic.
Sorted - Opening posts: the avatar link lays on top of the reply link below. Will test this in another browser in a sec, cause I use an exotic one at the moment.
Sorted - The description below the textarea for posting a reply says you can use @username to 'quote' someone. I guess that should read 'mention'.

These Groups are in beta folks. We will brainstorm ideas from the feedback here, look at FB, Goodreads, Reddit and other setups, incorporating the best features as time permits.
Please keep this thread to Groups discussions only. It really doesn't help us on an admin level, having to sift through the banter, to get to the pertinent points.

I have two questions....
1) I've just tried to create a group and add a banner to it. The instructions say the banner should be "a maximum of 100 px high." Mine is 96. When I tried to add the banner I got a message saying the banner should be "exactly 100 px high" and I wasn't able to upload it. Which one is it please? A maximum or exactly?
2) What's the perfect width a banner should be to fill the full width of the screen before it starts to repeat itself?

Got another one for you:
The 'New Groups' and 'Recently Active Groups' have a lot of overlap at the moment with regards to what information they are showing you. I suspect this will be the case for a while until the rush of new group creations plateaus. Could we replace one of those columns with a 'Most Popular' groups list based on number of members?

Depends. How wide is your screen?
That is actually the real answer. If someone visits your group using an iPhone4 then the screen width will bw 320px (or 480px in landscape mode), but on my laptop it's for instance 1280px. Lush's content seems to be 990px wide on most pages, except for the forum, so maybe you wanna stick to that, although the header images seem to be left aligned while the content is centered.
@Gav: could you repeat the header image from the center instead from the right? That would probably give a better view.

It took me a little bit to realize that when a discussion topic is in red it means there is a new post I haven't read yet and once I click on it it turns black the next time I see it until there is another new post. Just wanted to point out that it only changes if you click on the topic. If you click on the "view" link and go back it remains red. Just a little thing but it would improve the functionality of that if both made the color change.

I don't see the colour changing at all. Tried two different browsers. What I see is the topic titles being red in the overview and black on the topic's page. But that stays the same for me no matter what link I use.
