*ensure
Maybe in Scotland, not in Canada.

Q: Are “ensure” and “insure” interchangeable?
Some stylebooks say yes, and some say no. Are you any less confused? These two words are often used in place of each other, but WD’s style separates them.WD—and many other publications—uses “insure” only when referring to financial insurance policies. After signing a contract with a professional baseball team, Jack decided to insure his pitching arm for $1 million.
When the meaning is “to make certain,” WD sticks with “ensure.” It’s my job to ensure that you don’t misuse terms like these.
There are some newspapers and magazines, such as The New York Times and The New Yorker, that still use “insure” in both instances, but it’s fairly archaic to do so. Most publications differentiate the two.

Maybe having weekly Story Picks would be cool? The monthly ones are sweet, but at least if they were weekly it would give more people a chance of having their story picked. Like imagine how many awesome stories get published in a month and only 10 get recognition for it?...

I really like the addition of the few new categories (college sex, etc) ... terrific for the authors and the readers to find just what they want with one click!
I would love to see the category "Office Sex"
Pretty please ....

Okay, firstly, so I think that in the place where we can queue stories needs a little adjustment. When you queue a story, it only has the name of the story, not who wrote it. I think we should add that also. So we know who wrote what, in case we had an order, or to find one quicker. Some people put a lot of stories in their queues and it can get confusing. So, with adding the author next to the title, it could help a lot.
And secondly, and I know this has been suggested before, but, I think we should make a badge for helping improve the site. Like, in this forum, if we suggest something and it is used, we get a badge. I think it would be kind of cool, and who doesn’t like badges?
And thirdly, I posted this back in November and Nicola thought it was a good idea: I think a really nice addition to the site would be, when an author writes a story and submits it, when it is passed the mod who passed it sometimes says there were a few changes, nothing major, well, I think it would be great if we could then go into our story and see what has been changed. You know, like it would be highlighted so we can look at the original copy and the one passed to see what was changed, it would make it easier. Since we’re not told what is changed when the story is passed. So, is this going to happen? I’d love to see it added.
That is all. For now.

All good ideas.
The issue we have, is our coding department (Gav), has a backlog which would take him 3 months full-time to empty. He works full-time elsewhere.
Change isn't going to happen overnight, but I can assure you, we do note down all the most worthy suggestions, and they get implemented, as soon as we are able to do so.

Just a fleeting thought that has entered my mind for the third time now, so I'll share it, even though I really feel bad about possibly adding to Gav's pile:
With the number of new categories it has become incredibly difficult to get the Omnium badge, so how about a "light version" to encourage diversity in writing. Perhaps awarding a "Versatile" badge if an author has stories in 20 categories, which would be a little more than half of the existing ones? This might be doable for some of the authors here and push them to leave their chosen nesting places occasionally ;)

You can’t truly call yourself peaceful unless you are capable of violence. If you’re not capable of violence, you’re not peaceful. You’re harmless.

I think writers should only be allowed to vote on stories. Instead of numerals 1-5, use stars.
Quote by WellMadeMale
Would that be like... one star through five stars? Why not fractional stars too, say in fifths, perhaps?
I have numerous friends who do not have anything published at Lush and they enjoy reading and rating stories. Would be a shame to deny anyone the capability simply because they prefer to read our work more than they wish to submit their own creations.
Be more inclusive, not less.

Anyway... I think that a versatile author badge is a good idea but I have wondered before why there isn't a badge for authors that have a lot of followers. Like there are badges for story "views" which is just clicks on your story or badges for having 100 published stories but I feel that people that actually follow you is more of an accomplishment. Maybe There can be one for like 100 followers or 200 hundred or whatever would make the badge something worth having.

This one I actually like. A multi level followers badge system: one at 100 followers, the next at 200, and the ultimate 500 followers badge.

Perhaps we should have a couple of Suspension Badges... like for those who have endured 3 suspensions and yet - are still here to bug the shit out of everyone, afterwards.
That takes some talent to pull off without earning a permanent IP ban.
Perhaps Badges for 4 week, 8 week and 10 week suspensions too? If you earn 'em you should wear that flair, right?
Those who have actually placed in a competition and then earned a suspension later on... That definitely requires something more than a stinking badger though.
Try as I might, I can only think of one troll masquerading as an author who is so deserving at this time.
That'd be an extremely rare, combo disgraceful/honor to shoot for, wouldn't it?
