Riper and they don't have much texture My 2 cents

I like cutting them lengthwise and bbq'ing them. The caramelisation goes beautifully with vanilla icecream (the proper kind with vanilla beans not flavouring) for an easy dessert.

I’ve never tried to bbq one. I think I’ll pick up some with a bit of ice cream and give it a try

It's dead easy. Works just as well in a frying pan. 2-3 minutes each side, leave the skin on while cooking.

7 for eating. When they get to 11-12 stage, that's when I peel and put them in a plastic ziplock bag in the freezer for smoothies.

I freeze 10-15 and use either in bread or to make banana "ice cream" with some vanilla and a bit of skim milk.

I like them firm, no bruising but not too unripe. Brown bits on a banana freak me out a bit. I think it's the texture more than the taste though.

7 and 8 are usually nice and firm and full of flavor……. 9 works if the texture is good… 10 and beyond are usually soft ,mushy and tend to squirt out when peeled back.
