Hahaha After the southies lost to Holland and Germany I started the fourth of July celebrations early.

I knew Germany would kill Argentina's old defence. They really kicked the shit out of them, all of Germany's goals were made through great attacking plays. No luck involved in that win.

Paraguay kept it really close and could have won if they made that first penalty. Spain would have gotten frustrated after that and Paraguay just might have been able to hold them off. All great games all around.

But like Rocco I don't think anyone will be able to beat this German team. Even though Spain is good the Germans are going to kill them too. I also would like to see holland and Germany in the final like painter said. Uraguay getting lucky on the Dutch would be anti-climactic to me.

And I'm getting nervous already. The Netherlands hasn't really played one of the high ranked countries in the last 2 years. I think they played friendlies against England and Italy, both ended in a draw.

ok CommishRocco ... this is the next few games:

July 6th - Uruguay vs Netherlands - the Winner goes to the Final

July 7th - Germany vs Spain - as above, the Winner to the Final

So - the "Losers" of the above 2 games play on July 10th for 3rd place bragging rights

The Final Game - for 2nd Place and the Champions of the Cup are on July 11th.

Clear as mud??

I understand. So 3 out of 4 of those teams will finish in the top 3 spots. That's great; they all deserve it.

All 4 remaining games will be played at 20:30 CET.

But obviously only the number one spot matters. My fellow Dutchies have only played the final game twice (1974 and 1978) and lost both times. We got to the semi-finals in 1998 and lost to Brazil on penalty kicks.
So, if we manage to beat Uruguay on Tuesday it will be the first time in 32 (!!!) years that we will actually play the final.
Fingers crossed!

I have replayed it at least 100 times now, the goalkeeper was standing pretty much where he was supposed to be standing.

It's not the first time he has scored a goal like that. But to pull it off again in a big match at his age is awesome.
