How big a gap in years would you consider ok for a sexual partner?

I lost my lady 11 years ago. We were together for over 25 years and she was 14 years younger than I am. Funny thing, she was the one chasing me, even though she was a catalog and local runway model with the most wonderful Aussie accent.

I just would have a hard time being comfortable with people younger than my own children...I guess that was where I was coming from with my opinion...I couldn't be with someone if I was old enough to be their parent.

This goes back a ways, but Kat's opinion here is largely mine.

I crush on young women frequently and older men with young women has been a frequent theme in my erotica. However, with my son and his wife being in their mid-twenties (both turn 26 this year), being intimate with someone who was legal but at or below that age-range would feel a bit cringey.

That said, given my own age (60 later this year), even someone in their thirties could arguably be young enough to be my kid (e.g. If we had our child when I was 25, then he would be 35 this year). I don't think I would have a problem being with someone that age, even if someone in their forties or fifties would be a better match in terms of generation and cultural touchstones.

So I think that "old enough to be their parent" is perception to a degree. My kid is in his twenties so I see people in their twenties that way, even though someone older could technically fit just as well.

As far as older, I have had 35 years with someone significantly older and not sure I would go that well again given my own age. So maybe someone 5 years older, but not much more. But that's assuming starting over, not present company.

A strange little something for Halloween.

Strange Rites

I once had a girlfriend 16 yrs. younger and we were great sexual partners. We broke up but not because of the age thing.

When I was young I had a lot of older men who could have been my father. My husband is only 8 years older.

I have had different phases of my life where this aspect changed. As a high schooler, I found middle-aged women fascinating, though I wasn't looking to marry them. They were fully woman, and that aroused me more than nubile girls my own age. Later, dating again in my 40s, I only dated women within 10 years, including two serious girlfriends who were 4 years older. Granted, they were very fit and hot, but I liked that extra maturity and knowledge of sex. This was the era when I was discovering my inclination toward dominance, and their age didn't matter. In my 50s, I had a variety of playmates for a while, younger, my age, and older. One lovely woman was 30 years younger, a young professional woman who fantasized about submitting to an older man. That one just fell into my lap, you might say. What I valued most about that, aside from the incredible sex, was her maturity and the friendship that was possible. I also realized from that just how much I have learned and what I can offer a younger woman.

Any age is just a number

Several years ago I met a younger woman via Craigslist. We met at an Applebee's at 9pm for drinks. I'm horrible with guessing ages, but I was thinking she was 45ish. I was 57 at the time. I finally asked her age when we were leaving to go to my place to have sex. She was only 37! I didn't care as an older horny pervy guy, lol. Thankfully we clicked sexually.

The longest I've had was 10 yrs, but I don't have an age limit. If both are agreeable, then go for it.

I can’t think of a good reason to have any preset limit on a casual sexual relationship. If it seems like it’s going to be fun, then just do it and enjoy. For something that might be more serious or longer term. Something where the connection might be deeper and more long term, then age should be a bigger factor. Still you can’t just set an arbitrary number.

No preset limit, BUT I don't think I could likely relate sexually to someone who's eighteen. I did catch myself ogling an eighteen-year-old girl a little too openly when I was forty, but that was a very long time ago.

It's not a hard rule, but the classic half-plus-seven guideline has always seemed like a good ballpark for an age range I consider attractive. That would put the lower bound around mid-thirties ... and the upper limit around 100. Yikes! OK, I can be open-minded.

The biggest difference was 25 yrs, maybe a bit more. I never ask the age as it means absolutely nothing to me. I have always enjoyed mature women and continue to so, but then again as I said I never ask.

For a long term relationship 7- 10 years. Anything goes for short term tbh

For me, it was a bit of a fling. I was 21 and she was 36. But I agree with the above posted, a long term relationship 7-10 feels like the sweet spot

No limit

Personally, for me, 20 years is max. For others, it doesn't matter as long as both consent and neither is under legal age.

Dating my age or a couple year older. Just sex, my age to like 45-50 depending oh how hot he is.

Older than my kids by about 18 years meaning 61 for now.
