But no, I took a bag to the dome instead.

Is that a euphemism?

Weed is illegal here, so I cannot condone it's use in any context, although I know the benefits for some people, and my mum would kill me (I suppose that would solve all my problems, though...). Maybe I'll go fishing with the lads - they usually have some funny ciggies with them...

I have some for when my insomnia is bad. But my mum freaks out when I've had one, as she says it changes my personality, and I can't cope with how she reacts. I only use them when I've not slept for three nights in a row, as I hallucinate after that.

Maybe I just have to wait for the phase to pass.

I don't know if anyone has mentioned this already, but have you thought about going on different sleeping meds? I used to be on them (actually I think I still have a few lying around). Most shouldn't change your personality, but ask your doctor to change what your on and see if it helps ^^

Yeah, same here. I have bouts of insomnia as well. I actually just nibble on the pill (like eat a 1/4 or a 1/2 of one) so it's a ridiculously low dose but just gives me that smooth slide into sleep without the groggy next morning effects. Or crush it up and sprinkle just a tiny bit of it into a scoop of peanut butter to mask the awful taste.

That doesn't often work for everyone, I'm more groggy when I haven't take them. And when I was on my old ones I would constantly try and pester my doctor into giving me a higher dosage as the one I was on didn't work. He turned around and said I was on the dosage that they give a fully grown male adult and to stop asking for a dosage increase....

Okay, I know at least two other people on Lush that have nightmares. I don't mean your standard bad dreams, wake up feeling bad stuff. I mean the kind where it's so real that you want to, or will die in the middle of it, and wake up sweating, crying, gasping for air, etc.

Do you have any tips on how to deal with them, or how to prevent them? I've tried deep breathing and trying to empty my mind, a few relaxation exercises, and trying to control my dreaming through the use of a dream diary and psychological processes. I don't always know when I'm in a dream, although I do s ometimes and can either ride it out or wake myself up. I don't always know when I will have them, but I can recognise the triggers. I don't always know what they will contain either, although I can draw parallels with others. I tried writing down my worries before sleep too, and mentally throwing them away. I think maybe some of us just have phases of them and have to wait until they stop again?

So what I'm hoping for is a place where people can share their tips and tricks, if any, on how they cope with bad dreams/nightmares (yes I went to counselling and got a whole other set of things to worry about, but let's not go there).

Even if what you have to offer might be things I've tried before, or others have, it's still worth sharing. Miracles don't happen overnight, as much as we might wish they did!

Thank you in advance.

[I used to get something intermittently called Sleep Paralysis where the sufferer is aware and awake but unable to move, you feel as if you are going to die and will if you don't move. Some people experience the feeling that someone threatening is in the room though I didn't. I would gather all my strength and force myself to move and then sit up. For years I thought I was the only sufferer and never mentioned it to anyone in case it was mistaken for some mental disorder.I heard a programme presented by John Peel about it on BBC Radio 4 and was quite relieved to know I wasn't the only one. I analysed my sleeping position and worked out when the attacks happened and realised I was always sleeping on my back when this happened. I started sleeping on my face and the attacks ceased. I don't know if this helps atall but it may be something physical that is giving you these attacks].

Sleep with a friend.

None of my mates live here. Not that I'd be happy sharing a bed with, anyway. Plus, I wriggle around a lot, so they'd have to be exceptionally heavy sleepers.

Also sleeping with someone (rather than "sleeping" with someone) takes practise, especially if you are used to sleeping on your own.

Also if Daisy forgot whether it was a real person or a life size Ginga teddy bear she was sleeping with there could be some interesting headlines in the newspapers
