So the count down has stepped up with anticipation of Super Bowl LX this coming Sunday pitting New England Patriots versus Seattle Seahawks with commercials and Bad Bunny taking the half time gala show. But not to be overshadowed the XXV Winter Olympics or Milano Cortina 2026.

Starting February 6th thru February 22nd.

Location: Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy.

Venues: Spread across four main clusters: Milan (ice sports), Valtellina (skiing/snowboarding), Cortina (sliding/curling), and Val di Fiemme (ski jumping/cross-country).

Speaking of Winter Olympics here in the Kansas City area Special Olympics takes the slopes at Snow Creek this weekend

I found out today via our local weather forecast that it has rained every day since New Year's Eve where I live. As I write this, all I can hear is rain on our orangery roof. Not cold though, 9C.

Whoa, quiet in here. Did everyone go off to join the Bear on his vacay? Or are off prepping for Super Bowl parties?

I'll clean up Bertha and get some dark roast Costa Rican beans ground and brewing. For teas, how about some Yorkshire Gold and Assam Tarajulie. Hot chocolate is also available, with or without marshmallows. And I raided the goodie stash at Inspirations over on StoriesSpace.

Thank you for the Yorkshire Gold, Ape. 😊 I did put my head around the door yesterday, but it was quiet. All but empty. I'm not watching the Super Bowl; it's on too late, but I might pick up the highlights tomorrow morning.

Apparently, we have not had a completely dry day in 2026 where I live. Rain, rain, rain and more rain. 😳

Grabbing a Coke Zero to go, but skipping the goodies. The scale said a number I liked two days ago, and I'm gonna save my splurge for the Nathan's hot dog I intend to eat during the Super Bowl tomorrow.

My new mattress arrived today, so now the new bed is complete! A buddy of mine took the old bed, saying he was gonna order parts to fix the frame. Hope that works out for him.

I'm off to do some writing. Modding was... challenging this morning. 😕

It's been a weird week.

One of the women in my local writer's group had a stroke on Tuesday while we were meeting at the library. She ended up passing away overnight. It's surreal. She was there, reading us her very dark, edgy true crime story, and then she said, "Call 911, I'm having a stroke. I can't move my arm." She was speaking coherently until the paramedics arrived, then it all went downhill from there. Her son was with her when she passed, which was at least comforting to know.

On Wednesday, a girl I went to high school with passed away very suddenly and mysteriously. I haven't seen her for probably a dozen years or so, but we were good friends once upon a time. I'm left feeling awkwardly sad, and a little guilty that we didn't stay in better touch.

On Thursday, my Nurse Practitioner's office called and told me I had an appointment with the other doctor in the practice. Apparently, my NP left the practice. I canceled the appointment. I only drove that far because I liked the NP. Now, for the 5th time in 8 years, I am left to find a new primary care provider.

On Friday, yet another tooth broke. This is the third tooth to break in the last 6 months. It'll mean another crown. Sadly, not the kind that sparkles on top of my head.

Any time that dark cloud over my head would like to move along, that'd be nice.

No judging while I add a little Jack Daniels to my Coke Zero.
