RUMPLATIONS: Awesome Honky Tonk and Cyber Bar

Where is everybody? I mean, it is Friday and a long weekend here in Canada (or most provinces, anyhow) but still, that should mean more people out drinking, not less.

Coffee is on, a dark roast from Kenya. Teas are Assam and Yorkshire Gold. Kettle is ready if you want something else hot. And the bar is open for whatever you're craving to get your weekend going.

Pops in for a Coke Zero. I'd have a glass of Moscato, but I'm gonna be imbibing later at the piano bar. Last night on the island and all. Heading downstate tomorrow to see our oldest and her hubby and daughter. Haven't seen them in person for a while. (I FT regularly with our granddaughter. She takes the phone and sets it up so I can watch her play or paint or whatever and we chat about life. LOL).

Sorry for the delay today 3 doctor's came and checked my 60 day hospice. I've restocked the Coke Zero and added Body Armor to the drive selection and brought berry tarts for those with a hunger

And it's Market Day! Howza everyone doin'?

I've swept the floor – gave Lady Dryad the day off so she could enjoy some Morning Wood – polished up Bertha, and set Tea Kettle to work, so there's Fogler's coffee ready for them what wants it, plus Yorkshire and Assam teas on the sideboard.

I've got some fresh almond croissants, and some peanut butter cookes, 'cause I know a certain Lion who like those!

I may actually be ready to start writing my comp story. I've been buried in working on the non-fiction, non-fuck-tion book all week, so I might take a break and have a bit of a romp.

Y'all take care of yourselves, and each other, 'K?

I have a free weekend, so I'm doing a little writing, as well as catching up on reading the competition stories. I still have around twenty more to read! Nothing much more going on here, other than it is hot again. I never thought I'd get to say this living in the UK, but we really could do with a drop of rain! 😳

We leave the island today and head downstate. We will spend some time with the oldest child and her hubby and our granddaughter before picking my brother up tomorrow and taking him home with us for the month of August. I will use the car ride today to read more of the comp stories. So far there are quite a few really excellent stories.

Not just the UK I am hearing. The Danube levels are so low that it's causing a raft of problems from river cruises getting stuck or re-routed to Hungary having to shutdown a large power plant for lack of cooling water. And, of course, the various wildfire problems parts of Europe.

We are actually getting a rather normal summer here. Enough showers to keep things green. Temps in a fairly normal range save one bad heat wave.

Long weekend here but no big plans on my part. Writing if I can get focused on something.

You would appreciate the photo Floor Jansen (you know, that Dutch singer I worship) posted the other day. She was riding Sam, her current horse, while she's resting at home before her next concerts. She's a big "horse girl" and has had 2 or 3 since I've been following her. And a pony for her older daughter (now 9, but only 6 or 7 then).

And since I mentioned Floor, here she is in a collab with Swedish prog metal band Evergrey. Their vocalist Tom Englund has quite a reputation himself so putting him with Floor makes for quite a performance. This is one of two songs she sat in on for their 2016 album The Storm Within.

Trivia: Floor's husband used to play drums for Evergrey but was in Sabaton (where he remains to this day) by the time this was recorded. Not sure if that connection is how Evergrey got her.

And it's Sunny-Day – except it's not.

It's raining – hard – here, and supposed to rain for much of the day.

A good day to stay in and drink, eh?

And tomorrow is a holiday here.

The "It's a long weekend in summer" holiday, celebrated religiously on the first Monday of August.

So enjoy it!

I see Lion is among us, which is good news, always.

And even better, he's put the coffee on and the donuts out!

I'll just put some Yorkshire and Lapsong Souchow tea on the sideboards, and all will be right with the world!

Brightening up here after a very dark, wet morning. Heavy rain and it was so dark, I was turning lights on just to do the housework (washed hard floors and vacuumed carpets).

Housework is done now and I'm listening to Dido as I work on my ... novel? novella? Something? Rewrote a scene or two. About to rewrite another. Might look at how to publish it on SS but would need to split it. Right now, it's over 10K already and there's lots more I want to add. We'll see.

A lovely acoustic take on "Thank you" one of Dido's biggest hits. I was listening to her last studio LP, 2019's Still On My Mind, and this track is included as a bonus on the Deluxe Edition.

The Sweetest

Home sweet home. But it seems as though I brought the rain home with me. Ah well.

Had a lovely visit and dinner out with my oldest daughter, her hubby, and our granddaughter last night. Then picked up my brother this morning and flew home.

The universe works in mysterious ways, enabling me to bump into my son at the airport this morning before we got on our flight. What a lovely turn of events. Any chance I get to hug one of my kids is a wonderful blessing.

He is making progress with his health issues and it looks like he has landed a new job.

It's a calming feeling when all the kids seem to be doing well at the same time.

My own sinus issues are no better. I've been doing some additional research and will look into another possible specialist after my brother’s month-long visit is over.

Hubby leaves for work travel tomorrow morning and won't be home till Friday, so I should have time to finish editing a few new stories. Fingers crossed.
