It's too hot to walk outside this time of year. But I did swim in the pool in the morning yesterday and the Gulf in the afternoon. It was pretty calm which was nice.

My quads are still feeling the workout from Wed with a different trainer. Not sure if it's a good thing or a bad thing that I can still feel it this many days later. 🤷‍♀️

In the “you get what you pay for” category, the used refrigerator that I bought in January for my garage is no longer cooling properly. It had a one-month warranty, which has long since passed. Gonna suck it up and buy a new one that is “garage ready” and on sale at Costco. They will haul the old one away.

Just some tea this morning for me. But put everyone’s drinks on my tab today Bear. My son got a job! It's hybrid remote so he will be able to continue working on his health issues. Amen!

The Sultry Siren - my Wherefore Art Thou? competition story tells the tale of a man's obsession.

Morning, Rumpies wave

I am trying to walk 2 miles today!! We’ll see how it goes. It’s taken me forever to get back up to 1 mile after that pneumonia bitch kicked my ass.

If you need me, I’ll probably be in Storeroom 4 afterwards receiving tender loving care from my boy toys. biggrin

Yea Kimmi! I'm pleased you're back in the saddle – or on the trail – again!

And yes, the toys in Store Room #4 have noticed the difference! More endurance, for one thing! 😜

Thank you for the lovely welcome, this place is super friendly! 😊

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Of course. This is Rumps, the social centre of Lushland, and the denizens found herein are lecherous, leering, and lovely.

Welcome!

Just a couple of friendly notes:

Bar tabs are paid quarterly, unless it gets into 4 digits or more, at which point we need some valuta.

Our Head of Security is Terrance, but you won't see much of him. He's a tarantula, and spends his time in the rafters, or the nut warmer or popcorn machine behind the bar – but with his compound eyes, he doesn't miss much. He's also our bill collector.

Our bouncer is Miss Pixel, but you won't see her, either. She's a cat, and if you need bouncing, you REALLY won't see her coming, so behave.

Behaviour is expected. Be polite, and custom says be kind, but beyond that, we're pretty much open.

We tend to discourage politics, but you can bring it up – as long as you're not a shithead about it.

I'm James, but everyone calls me Bear on account of me being a Canadian Polar Bear. RumpleForeskin himself, our founder, asked me to help out, which is why I'm here. He can be VERY persuasive.

And finally – the first drink is on the house. What can I get you?

Excellent news, Kat!

About the son, I mean, not the fridge.

BTW, coffee's on, tea is brewed, Coke Zero in the cooler, and pastries are ready.

Come and get it!

BTW, I'm hoping to slide my comp story in this morning – just Bearly under the wire!

Keep your eyes open for it!

In the news north of the border wall keeping the yanks out! My one-year anniversary is fast approaching, as is my birthday! I expect Cake and a song, so feel free to rehearse! Also, I have had a health scare keeping me away, but I am feeling much better now and am going back home again today and plan to return to writing as soon as I can. I have an unfinished series with a couple more chapters that I would like to complete! After that, my wife and I have been brainstorming an actual novel incorporating elements of her heritage in a fantasy-like setting and featuring only a little (maybe!) soft core sex, but plenty of romance! That is all!

Oh, and today, drinks are on me!

Afternoon, Rumpies,

Did someone mention free drinks? I have a mug of Yorkshire tea and something alcoholic with an umbrella in it. 😈

Happy Birthday, fillelapine. 🎂 Good luck with your novel; nothing wrong with romance as long as there is a happy ending. The romantic kind. 😀

Kimmi, you get there with the walking, as healing takes time. I'm finding that out myself with my sciatica; at the moment, I would have a problem walking a mile. I might be able to limp it – just!

Kat, good news about your brother; I am pleased for him. 😊 Sorry to hear about the fridge. They don't build them as they used to. Hot here too, though not Florida hot. We haven't had meaningful rain down here on the south coast of England for months; we need it, as everything is dry and withered, a bit like me. Where's my drink, Bear? 🤣 Thank you. 😎

I look forward to reading your competition story, Bear. I already have my badge on my profile, which I am currently polishing. Take care, everyone... my whole family are just about to turn up for Sunday roast. It doesn't feel right when the temperature is in the high twenties (C), and there isn't a cloud in the sky! But that is what you get when you offer free food! 😎 I wouldn't have it any other way. 😀

Lots of news!

Happy for your son, Kat! ❤️

Bunny, happy anniversary and birthday and glad you are better! ❤️

David, I bet sciatica sucks! Hope it gets better! ❤️

Bear, get that comp entry in!! ❤️

Everyone else in here, I hope you have a glorious day and enjoy a nibble of my chocolate buns. biggrin

I posted this elsewhere, but I would like to share it here, too. Today, August 9, we celebrate Indigenous Peoples around the world and honour the cultures, languages, knowledge, traditions and communities carried forward across generations.

The International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples has been observed annually since 1995, following its establishment by the United Nations General Assembly.

This year’s theme is “Honouring Indigenous Midwives: Safeguarding Life and Well-being,” recognizing the knowledge, care and traditions Indigenous midwives continue to carry within their communities.

From generation to generation, Indigenous Peoples continue to preserve languages, strengthen cultures, care for their communities and pass knowledge to those who come next.

Today, we celebrate that strength, knowledge and cultural continuity.
