Reports fight may be moved from Rio to Vegas[/url]]
Brazilian media giant Globo is reporting that the UFC may be forced to move Anderson Silva vs. Chael Sonnen off the UFC 147 card and mount the fight in Las Vegas instead. The fight is currently set to headline UFC 147 in a Rio de Janeiro stadium with Vitor Belfort vs. Wanderlei Silva as the co-main event. Belfort and Silva are the coaches on the first Brazilian season of The Ultimate Fighter which has been a huge hit on Brazilian TV.
MMA Fighting reported a few days ago that a UN conference was complicating plans for the event and might force a rescheduling.
"O Globo" reported today that the bout will be moved to Las Vegas, and rumors indicate that it might happen in UFC's July 7th show (UFC 148).
Anderson Silva's manager Ed Soares told TATAME on Monday that the bout is already signed for June 23, in Rio de Janeiro, but his Black House partner, Jorge Guimaraes, told TATAME today that the plans could change.
"This situation is already being discussed. There are some speculations. What you heard, I heard too. It seems like there are no hotels to fit everybody with UN's event, Rio+20", Guiamares said.
The event has already been a logistical headache for the UFC who had originally hoped to put it on in a Sao Paulo stadium but noise ordinances and the late hour required for the U.S. PPV market prevented that.

^^
That is total bullshit! I don´t believe it will leave brasil. Too much money to be lost. There are other options like São Paulo.
In my opinion this is one of those economic bluffs... I hope!

Apparently there's also some talk that there is concern for safety reasons due to death threats, objects thrown at press and fighters and laser pointers used on non-brazilians at the last event. So based on the potentially explosive nature of this fight, that might be factoring into things now they're really getting into the logistics of it. That's just what I heard though.
I mean, reportedly Chael only has one testicle but I'm thinking that it's gotta be one big kahuna of a ball to feel confident walking into Brazil based on his extreme trash-talking of the country over the past few years. lol
But hey - I hope it stays in Brazil - I think it makes for more exciting energy building up to the event.

In the media call for this even, Silva spoke like he has never before, calling out Chael with brutal language.
