Why are space aliens usually naked while humans wear clothes?

This vexing question must be asked. Why do all the drawings of space aliens by human eye witnesses, abductees, and so forth, to them show the space aliens naked? Wouldn't you think a more advanced species wouldn't go around naked, sitting their naked butts down in the fine furniture and stuff?

I'm actually not sure how the aliens being naked thing got started. In the first famous UFO abduction, Betty and Barney Hill, the aliens were wearing uniforms so it's not universal.

The question could equally be asked as to why they are all humanoid when there is no reason to believe other body plans couldn't exist. The answer is likely that "alien abductors" aren't actually aliens. I once read a book pointing out how similar such cases are to old folk tales about people being taken off by fairies and such. IOW, they may be a psychological/cultural phenomenon rather than a physical one so, naturally, the beings described resemble us.

Still not sure about the nudity, though.

You're assuming that there's waste. Maybe they've found a way to consume only what their bodies need while flying across the universe?

As for the nudity, I assume it's because many (if not all) reports are dreams and/or fantasies and people like the idea of the aliens being naked and probing their butts (seriously, if some advanced species really wanted to know more about us, wouldn't they think of a better approach than sticking stuff where the sun don't shine?) But if that's what they're into, then who am I to judge?
