I flipped on fox for a few mins - they had vance on, asking him questions about healthcare. I didnguy't listen to what he said.
that seemed to me that they were getting him ready to take over.
me thinks dumpy is dead man walking.
and I am happy.

It’s amazing to me that a president can threaten Congresspeople with execution for stating the law about following illegal military orders. That’s especially true when not a single person in his immediate family has ever served in a branch of the US military.
What he can do is at the moment only controlled by his party’s control of congress
Once we reach the midterms he won't get that leeway, and they know it. It's a shake that the GOP lacks a spine
At least during the Nizon admin, his own party moved to control him. But the GOP doesn't currenty have the courage to oppose him
The Wild Girl anthology need not be read in any order but does take place in the following timeframe

I know the Dems won’t pick up the seat being vacated by MT Greene but it’s another sign that GOP Congresspeople are running scared. If the Dems retake the House, Trump's whole agenda pretty much comes to a stop. And you know they’ll be calling the heads of departments and agencies in for committe hearings on a daily basis. My guess is some of them will resign too rather than face continual interrogations by Dem Congresspeople.

Good morning
One of the saddest and most obnoxious statements he's made. If it isn't about him, he'll make it about him. Even members of the GOP have taken him to task for his ludicrous outburst. My dad used to say," make sure your brain is in the same gear as your mouth" (or something along those lines.) That's not Trump. His mouth is always a gear or two ahead of his brain.
My father used to say: "Those who feel a need to exclamate loudly are not the ones to listen to."
Give them the finger and argue against the injustice. If that doesn't work - prepare to kill some crazy motherfuckers.
This shithead demands a Nobel peace prize..? Claims he's stopped 7 or 8 wars in 2025... Waits til 2026 to start one against a helpless nation. Reminds me of when George HW Bush invaded Panama in 1989.
Woo Hoo - another Republican started war of choice. Thanks, MAGA

And here we are now, the US of A has once again taken control of precious oil reserves with (full respect for that) military precision no other nation can pull off like that. Oorah!
What they just did is exactly what Putin was trying to do in Ukraine. A quick special operation to take out the government, install your own, and take all the resources. If it had gone like that, we would have stopped talking or caring about it after a month or two.
No matter what you think of Trump or politics in general, Venezuela is not his or even his administration's baby. This goes much deeper.
And remember, Trump is the guy who said, no more USA world police, we will take care of our own country and nothing else. Grandpa has never been steering that ship...
Humanity is at war with itself daily.
Guns, Conflict, War, illegal drugs, human trafficking, and other types of anti human activity.
And what's sad is, that the human species just seems to go along with the flow of its own destructive ways?
And the saddest part?
There are adults who are trying to raise families, while the above chaos, is quietly thriving in their communities, because that's what the career criminals do...
They create chaos, just so they can profit off of it.
And then innocent citizens lose their lives to the criminals.
Because it's the criminals who have rap sheets that are as long as their arm's, who commit those crimes.
But for some reason, those criminals don't stay in jail long, because apparently jail time, is unfair to those same criminals?
Thus, humanity remains at war with itself, daily.
Have a happy day all.
Amazing. He attacks Venezuela and captures their president and his wife. Calls him a narco-terrorist. Don’t get me wrong Madura is a cruel dictator. But just over a month ago he pardons the ex-president of Honduras who was convicted in federal court of trafficking cocaine. Maybe he doesn’t consider cocaine a drug?
I simply do not understand how this buffoon has so many people fooled. He's exaggerates, no, LIES, constantly.... he uses the same 4-5 phrases all the time when he talks.... "like nobody's ever seen," or "they all say that,"..... who is 'they' Donny?? I'm so over him. Too bad that nutjob in PA only clipped his ear.

Similar thoughts. How did we wind up with this ass not once, but twice?

Because you're system is totally fucked up, both culturally and politically. And on top of that your checks and balances are failing miserably.

Our checks and balances system worked well for 200 years or so. But with McConnell stealing a justice seat and the appointment and approval of justices whose politics mean more than upholding the Constittution it has been failing. Plus Roberts is a weak Chief Justice who doesn’t seem to want to do battle with the 3 arch conservatives on the Court.

I'd say that those are all examples of your checks and balances failing.

And I agree it has failed over the last 10-15 years. We’re working our way to an imperial presidency. Congress, especially the current one, has ceded way too much authority to the preisdent. And as I said before the current Supreme Court is not just conservative, but polically biased towards conservative positions. On top of that, it’s a very weak SC.

This just didn't happen overnight, Noll. It's been coming on since Reagan destroyed the long established (1949) FAIRNESS DOCTRINE in 1987.
[Lifted from Wikipedia]
Key events leading to its end include:
* 1987 FCC Vote: In August 1987, the FCC, under new chairman, Dennis Patrick, voted 4-0 to abolish the Fairness Doctrine, concluding that the rise of cable television and other media outlets had made the "scarcity" argument for regulation - obsolete.
* Reagan's Vote: Before the FCC vote, the Democrat-controlled Congress passed legislation (the Fairness in Broadcasting Act of 1987) that would have codified the doctrine into federal law. President Reagan vetoed this bill, stating that the content-based regulation by the federal government was "antagonistic to the freedom of expression guaranteed by the First Amendment".
Consequences
The repeal is often linked to the subsequent rise of highly partisan talk radio and cable news networks in the late 1980s and 1990s. While the Fairness Doctrine applied only to broadcast licenses (not cable networks like Fox News or MSNBC), its absence is seen as having lowered overall industry standards for balanced reporting, contributing to greater political polarization in U.S. media.

I never suggested it was a recent change.
I think a push for polarisation, for instance, has been baked into your system from the very start. And it shows, since the US has had a two-party system since the beginning.
The Electoral College, with its winner-take-all method, pushes for strategic voting, thereby favoring a two-arty system, resulting in two major camps, resulting in polarisation. Same for the fact that POTUS is elected in only one round. A single position, especially one as powerful as POTUS, always pushes for strategic voting, because people's vote is often as much a vote against a certain candidate as it is for another. But by adding multiple rounds some of that can be mitigated.
