Trump's tariffs amount to pick-pocketing the American consumer. Here's how it happened: Trump announced ludicrous tariffs for all kinds of stuff, promising that other countries would shoulder the additional costs. They didn't (why would they?). Instead, consumer prices increased on a bunch of stuff consumers want and need, leading to price inflation pretty much everywhere. Then the supreme court stepped in and struck down the tariffs as illegal, which they were, and ruled that the government return the tariffs. Approximately $100 billion had been collected and was to be reimbursed. But I didn't see a cent of that money coming back to me, and my guess is most of you didn't either. The money was given to businesses who in their generous and altruistic spirit passed it back on to the customers - Ha! Just kidding. They kept it for themselves. Businesses got rich, customers got screwed, the economy is in rough shape, America's trading partners are wary of doing business with them, and the country's standing in the world is in shambles. And we're doing it all over again with a new set of tariffs. When will you all wake up to this predatory con-artistry? Was it worth it just so you could gloat over the dems and shitpost your memes? Your choices are enriching the already rich, and leaving you destitute. But I guess that's how you like it. After all, you elected this charlatan twice.
