But seriously, I have younger cousins that compete, and they were mixed gender. Maybe it's only for the 12 and under division, but I've seen it.

The point I'm making is that it's possible. Takes extra work, sure, but it's feasible. It only appears impossible because it isn't the norm.

There's a difference. If they or their parents are signing up for that, then who cares.

They're mixed gender competitions. I'm aware of the difference, but what I'm saying is that the binary structure doesn't have to be the only way to handle mixing biological sex in sports and have fair match-ups.

Girls should play with girls in competitions, leagues and tournaments. Wanting boys to go in there and dominate girl's leagues too is not feminist, progressive or enlightened. It's ridiculous and crazy and only hurts the trans movement. Most people are fine with trans people, it's things like men in women's sports that makes people go you know what, never mind... what's next, scholarships for women going to men too? Or whatever slippery slope they fear.

In reality, not everyone can do everything.

So, how did they find out that your daughter was a good match to girls 2 years older then? It's just the same thing.

Who wants boys to go in and dominate girls' leagues? With capability based leagues there are no boys or girls leagues. That's the whole point.

It's under 12s, so they have to be under 12. She was 9 when she joined because she felt the under 10 was too frustrating because the under 10 girls weren't "serious" about playing so moved her to under 12s. I think you can turn 12 and still play if you join when under 12 but then have to move up to under 14s I think it is next year.

There are already compatibility/skill based leagues. But they still are separated by girls/women and boys/men. Because men and women are different.

Yeah capability based leagues... have fun with that.

The point is that no one enters competition out of a vacuum. There's training first, where one competes with others. And when one has a competition history, then those results are indicators as well.

Some girls make the Varsity team, some the JV team, some the freshmen team. Same for the boys. Some make no team at all.

Some athletes make college teams, some go pro, some go semi pro. Some don't.

That's life.

If there was only one Varsity team instead of a boys and a girls Varsity team there would only be a boys varsity team.

Some of the best women players vs league 2 players who look to be holding back... If all teams were mixed gender and just based on tryouts then it would just be all males.

Only if there's be only one league, but that's no different from now: if there'd be only a men's or only a women's league then there would only be men's teams or only women's teams.

One team might consist entirely of men and the other of women. But that would not be the the criteria by which they were selected.
