Just thinking a lot lately about the most important thing my father has ever taught me:

You have to study, and work, and make sure that you are independent. Because there's nothing more beautiful than being self-sufficient.
Don't depend on anyone, especially on a man. Not even your own father. Be independent, be free, so you can do whatever you want with your life.
And, once you've achived that, you can be with whoever you want.
You can even be with a different guy every three months, if that's what you want.
I define nothing. Not beauty, not patriotism. I take each thing as it is, without prior rules about what it should be.

I hope I can find words as wise as this to tell my daughters. And that they will remember it years later, as you have.

Fortunately, I've learned to cut my losses FAST! I'm MUCH happier now!
It's not what you do, it's who you do it with that makes life pleasant.
