Voting on Your Own Story

I'd like some guidance about voting on one's own stories.

First - Is it even possible to do it on Lush?

Second - How do you feel about it, should we or shouldn't we?

Third - Do you yourself, vote on your own stories?
First: No

Second: Shouldn't. Voting is for others to gauge your work honestly according to their own personal standards. You already know what your standards are and you already know how you feel about your work. Also, not many people have the mental capacity to fairly judge their own work. Some are too hard on themselves while others think too highly of themselves.

Third: No.

All of that aside, what would really be the point in voting on your own story, other than making it a numbers game? People find many workarounds for that, anyhow.

"What is the quality of your intent?" - Thurgood Marshall

Well Dani beat me too it and I agree with her 110%
I guess I should have answered my own questions before asking others.

First - Until reading the above, I didn't know you couldn't vote your own story on Lush. (I have never tried.)

Second - Should we vote on our own stories? I think it depends on the general practice. In government elections, (at least in the U.S.), candidates almost always vote for themselves. However, in one organization I belong to, although it would be permissable, candidates for office generally abstain when the vote is taken. I think voting on your own stories is a case of "when in Rome..." If everyone else is doing it, then why cheat yourself.

Third - Have I ever voted on my own stories? On Lush - no, never even tried, or I would have known the answer to the first question. But on other story sites, where it is not only possible, but normal to do so - of course, I'd be a fool not to.

I really haven't any desire to be devil's advocate, so I hope it's not viewed that way. I'm by nature curious to a fault. My thoughts lie along the lines of Dani's. But, why do you feel that not voting for yourself (if normally done on other sites) is cheating yourself? When you look at the numbers or responses, wouldn't you naturally deduct your own activity subconsciously anyway? Some people will even go as far as creating personas to vote and comment on their work. Of course here, things like that will be eventually caught and corrected. On other sites (some quite popular), it is what's done "in Rome".

Basically, it comes down to why you write and why you are here. This I know. But, I am curious.
? A True Story ?
I don't see the point of voting on your own work..even on other sites.

What does that really do for you?

Possible and normal? I can't fathom that but whatever.

Good luck Sir.

You don't have to answer...just stating my own thoughts.

Goes away confused.

Smiles at Liz's response.

You can comment on your own stories smile

Liz: "I love this one! Great job. Definitely my favourite story of yours so far."

Liz: "Thanks, Liz!"

Liz: "You're welcome."

I don't see the sense with voting on my own story. If I was going to rate my story anything other than a five, I still have work to do. I don't know if it's even possible becausethe I've never checked.
i will occasionally give myself a 2 if i think it's not my best and people are giving it too many 5s. smile

You can’t truly call yourself peaceful unless you are capable of violence. If you’re not capable of violence, you’re not peaceful. You’re harmless.

This. My files are chuck full of incomplete stories that would deserve a 4. The fact I even shared them means I felt they were worthy of a five. That's why I've so few erotic stories published after five years. Only the ones I truly thought worthwhile ever see the light of day.

The Wild Girl anthology need not be read in any order but does take place in the following timeframe
