Going mad with my very moderate amount of power![]()

As a wise man once said: Power tends to corrupt. Moderate power corrupts moderately.
I actually have the opposite problem. I've had good luck posting chapters of my story on here. The moderators have been really speedy with my work. It never takes them more than a few hours to get back to me about my submissions, even before I signed up for the gold subscription. But I submitted the first chapter of my story to Literotica almost a week ago and still haven't heard from them.

Sorry. didn't realize Senior Importante had arrived on the scene.

You've just submitted the story today, correct? I'd hardly call that limbo. Patience is a virtue.
Private Show - A man and his wife ditch a public performance in favor of a private one in this microfiction piece.
Perfectly Imperfect - where love and sex collide and a man knows his wife better than she knows herself.
The Naughty Babysitter - Part Three - Katie gives up control of her body.
Boardrooms & Boudoirs Part Fourteen - Chapters 53-56 - Grace deals with feeling out of sorts.
The answer to the original question is that a human has to review your work. Word by word. And they may have to do that with many other stories at more or less the same time. And they may also have families and jobs and other things to do besides validate our smut. So yeah, sometimes takes a while.
An upgraded membership does help. My stories usually get reviewed within a day or two. And sometimes they don't. Which is okay. When that happens, it's reasonable to assume the mods are pretty busy. I know they'll get to it when they can.
Also, FWIW, "Just saying" is the most passive-aggressive phrase in the English language, especially when combined with "Not complaining." Just saying.

As a moderator here, I don’t feel I have ‘great power’.
My voluntary job is to read and approve as many stories as I can (while simultaneously running my own business and lecturing at a university) while ensuring they don’t break sensible rules around , racism, etc. My own tastes and preferences don’t influence my decisions, although if something is shockingly bad it will be returned.
If people don’t read the criteria, don’t proofread their work, don’t use free and easily available grammar checkers, and think that being an ‘amateurish’ writer is equivalent to being an ‘amateur’ writer, they can expect their work to be rejected. These issues are what hold people’s stories up. And if a mod makes minor changes to your story, it’s only to avoid a senseless hold up as you correct what we could quickly correct ourselves.
Also, paying for the site accelerates the publication of your stories, and why would people who pay not expect better service than those who don’t? If you want your story published quickly, pay for it!
The reason we all come to Lush rather than other sites is because the quality of writing is better. If that means the mods have to challenge writers to improve, so be it. But every story can be speeded up if authors don’t expect us to correct their mistakes, and get everything in place before they submit.
There’s nothing that gives us mods more pleasure than seeing a new author have their work published for the first time. We remember when it was our first stories!
It will take even longer to get your stories published if we mods decide not to bother giving our time to help and support you, so cut us some slack!
Thank you to those of you who understand and support us in our role.

I can only imagine how much the mods have to deal with. The number of stories that get published versus all that they still read but need to be sent back... AMazing work... Thank you for your time and your talent
Thanks for the kind words. We do our best to be as timely as possible. It's always nice when our efforts are appreciated. 😎

Stories seem to pass quickly if they comply with the rules Lush sets forth. Best thing I have found is to use Word Editor for a complete review of the typed story. Once reviewed, I then use the "review" and "read aloud" feature to listen to the story. It is actually quite nice to listen to the female AI read the story. I wish I could save it to become an audio file. I usually pick up a few errors through listening to the story and its an easy way to find last minute corrections.

Great advice! I always use the read aloud feature as well. I catch many things with my ear that I miss with my eye. In addition to Word editor, I use Quillbot to catch my punctuation errors. I’ve discovered it does a better job than Grammarly for those types of mistakes.
Yes, when stories are proofread and meet the mark, the approval process tends to be quicker. But it can also depend on the availability of story mods on any given day.

Newton's third law has it's place here, too.
Or the availability of story mods on any given day. 🤔 😎

I find it slightly amusing that even with all the mods, it can take just as long here as it does on Lit, where it's just Laurel.
Hehe, yeah. That's the trouble with having standards. They take time and effort!

I wish there was a story writer's membership. I don't care about the chat rooms or cams or HD videos. I care about spamming the site with my erotic fantasies for like-minded individuals to read and appreciate, so that my brain can make with the happy chemicals as I read each new comment over and over again obsessively.

I am kind of the same. My membership is mostly for the benefits as a writer though I am also in a group and those require membership now.
A strange little something for Halloween.
I joined Inkitt in november, and they also have a group of mods to approve stories, they also prioritize works 10k+, and at least for me; it's even worse than here. I submitted five short stories, and only the third had been accepted.
As much as folks complain about here, and Lit, and it does seem on average this site is on par with Lit on submissions, regardless of membership, sure the mods do have a life, but it's still a group versus one person, and lit is strict in it's own right... that said; Lush is a better site than Inkitt, as far as my experience so far. So I'm not really complaining about here, because the less work needs to be done on a story, the faster it gets accepted, just like on Lit. No work needs to be done on those short stories, taking months is unacceptable, regardless of site preferences and processes. And one needs to dance between the site and the app to get shit done. I have novels I can put on there, but there's no incentive to do so, when what I already put there, is just sitting for who knows what.
I'll share my own anecdata here. I used Literotica for about a month and was somewhat frustrated by the slow publishing turnaround times (3 to 5 days maybe? I've deleted that info from my mind), but was REALLY frustrated by the bizarre delays in doing things like updating my profile picture or bio information; stuff like that often took a day or more to refresh. I then tried Lush, got my first story published in roughly 3 days, then decided that I liked it and paid $99 for a platinum membership. (monthlong Black Friday sale, yay!) And then I deleted my stuff and my account from Literotica, which of course was a multi-step, multi-day process. 🙄 Now I'm up to 20 stories on Lush and most get approved within 12 hours; one story took 36 hours, but I uploaded it on Thanksgiving night. (Black Friday obligations in the mods' lives, boo!)
I really appreciate the mods' help here on Lush. More than once, I've messaged a mod and been like "Yo, I found a small but glaring error in the story you recently approved; if I pull it and make the fix, can you approve it again wicked fast so it isn't in limbo all day?" and the mod has been like "Bada bing, done." and then I was like "OMG THX."

I am prolific author of online erotic fiction, mainly themed around transvestites (because I am one so easy to write about) but also, pantyhose/stocking fetish (yes I have one), and often with a forced/reluctance theme.
I am published on Literotica, Fictionmania, Stories Online, Nifty, Top Shelf and few other smaller sites. Some of these sites take a day or two to publish submitted work and some send back for revision but here at Lush it seems to take forever for works to get approved and published.
I don't know, maybe it's just the holiday season and all the moderators are away on holiday?
Not complaining; just sayin' that's all![]()

I’m having similar experiences.
On the other hand, a mod claimed my latest submission last night and has been sitting on it for 8 hours. If that's a sneaky way to avoid having to read the poetry entries that will pour in on the final day of this Valentine's Day competition, I approve. 😘

just a note. when you submit a story, please make sure that it is ready to publish. too many stories are sent in with multiple issues concerning TOS and grammar. that means we have to mod them, return them with a detailed list of issues that need to be addressed, and then mod them again when they are re-submitted. in other words, we have to do the work twice or sometimes more. thanks!

Counted to 10--- failed.
Counted to 100- still not enough... but gave up trying to bite my tongue.
Questions for the impatiently deluded:
Are you familiar with the concept of workloads?
Are you aware that people give up time to do what you want quickly?
Are you aware that for every outspoken and impatient person, there might be ten with better manners?
I'm aware the world doesn't revolve around me. I feel blessed.
You're welcome.
