That would be too weird. I think I would try to avoid that.

It's not ideal but it wouldn't bother me that much. How many people really think of their parents as anything other than "mom" and "dad" anyway.

I would have a much bigger problem with someone that shared the same name as my 'evil' long-term ex-bf. That name is ruined forever as far as I'm concerned.

I don't think it would really bother me either to be honest. I don't think of my parents in first name terms anyway. I guess it would be more uncomfortable for your parents?

It would be worse if they shared the name of a sibling or something...

At the end of the day, a name is just a name and you could always use a different version of it, couldn't you? I mean, if it was a problem...

I never experience anything like that before, but I do not think it would bother me too much. A name is a name…

I never really gave it any thought but I really dont think it would bother me at all. Afterall, its just a name right. I agree with DD, I would hate to be involved with someone who had the same name as my ex since it would bring back a lot of horrible memories.

I don't think I would care at all. As a side note I worked with a lady once who had a son same name as her husband and a daughter with her name. They all looked alike to. Super nice people but yep I always thought that was a tad odd!

The name wouldn't bother me. But I have a feeling that anyone with them name Robert is probably packing equipment that I don't want to handle.

I agreee with the above posters here. Besides the only time I call my woman by her first name is when I am trying to get her attention, or super pissed.

Other than that I have a handful of pet names for her.

I wonder if you call her by the same pet names that I call her?

thank god neither of my parents was named Dudelicious! *giggles and runs*

You can’t truly call yourself peaceful unless you are capable of violence. If you’re not capable of violence, you’re not peaceful. You’re harmless.

LOL this reminds me of a father and son with the same name...
I dated the son for a couple of years and I used to call him "Junior" when I was feeling frisky
Never had an issue with him and his dad having the same name
But I still smile anytime I hear someone say Junior smile

well....... I did once date a guy (once is the operative word), whose mother first name was my name.

The fact that my name was his mother's weirded HIM out. Like, Dudealicious, he called me baby, honey, sweetie. lol

A bit off topic but I was set up on a blind date. She LOOKED like my mother. A very very close replica. Talk about being weirded out! That was a looong night.

hahaha! I once had a date with this guy that could have been my younger brother's twin!! I was sure the guy was some weird cousin somewhere, but didn't have the energy to ask for a DNA sample. (not the same guy with the mother having the same name as me, honest!)

god ... weird! LOL

It wouldn't bother me... I have dated someone with the same name as my dad, grandfather, great grandfather, and brother..."Jose" its a common Mexican name. And I'm totally crushing on a guy name Jose right now. smile

Never had that happen yet, but I could deal. I dated a girl who had the same name as my sister, and that wasn't an issue. "A rose by any other name would still smell as sweet." If her name is enough to turn me off of her, that's probably a good sign she wasn't a good match in the first place.

I have close friends named Lynda and Frank (Jr). Frank's parents' names are Lynda and Frank. They don't seem weirded out by it, but they did say it gets confusing at Thanksgiving dinner.

My husband and stepfather have the same name. I call my husband by his name and my stepfather is jackass, so no confusion there.

Oh yeah, now that takes the cake...and I don't even want to know what they named their kids...

My mother's name is Eleanor, and I haven't ran into a whole lot of Eleanors in the last thirty years or so...but, it would be real strange actually...my mother would probably like it though...

You know you want it, you know you need it bad...get it now on Amazon.com...

No, it would never bother me for the reasons mentioned earlier on, you normally call your parents mum and dad.

Slightly off topic but I'm chatting tonight....

I once dated a girl that had the same name as someone I'd previously lived with. Initially, it was a bit odd, but Mary Kelly isn't an unusual name where I live.... And we talked about it, and the 'new' Mary Kelly wasn't exactly thrilled that I'd had another Mary Kelly BUT eventually it became something of a private joke.....

Until.......

(In Ireland, most people have two Christian names at birth, and then choose a THIRD christian name at confirmation, when we're about 14.... So, my full name is Stephen Charles Anthony F*******) Actually, I think it's kind of cute, and occasionally, in fun, you'll call a girlfriend by ALL of her names....)

Well....

One night, when we'd been going out for some months and after a SPECTACULAR blow-job, I brought my second ever Mary Kelly up for a hug and exclaimed, "Mary Therese Angela Kelly, WHERE did you learn to do that....???"

(I'll never forget the look in her eyes.....)

"I'm Mary Elizabeth Lily Fucking Kelly..." She snarled, eyes like ice........

Incredibly, I talked my way out of it but GOD!!!!!! (And I was only trying to be CUTE!!!!)

My Mom's name is Christine...... And I've never had a Christine!!!!!

I doubt many people are named Mearl so its not really a problem for me biggrin however, I did date a guy with the same name as my brother. Kinda wierd. And I have walked away from people who were named the same as my evil ex.

I never was with anybody with my dads name but I can't see it's that big of a deal. I'm thinking of my partner not my parents when being sexy with my partner...

You know to be honest he's dad not his name to me..so no biggie here

It wouldn't bother me at all if it were my dad's or brother's name....... Now, if it were my mom's or sister's name, that would be weird!!
