Susie, I'm so glad I'm not the only one telling Annie her winter is the same as our summer! I'll get some washing out on the line today as it's due to lash down all day tomorrow. Oh, joy! And agree that Annie's Flash was excellent and hot stuff!

So, BB has been de-sludged (saved for Carl) rinsed and refilled and there is a pot of fresh tea on the counter for lovely Tonya (not forgetting Scott, too.)

The mugs are washed and will hopefully dry while I have a hunt in the freezer for any spare cake.

Tea, coffee, fine lickers, anyone?

The news here has included items on European heatwaves and Nicola mentioned high 30's in England. Giggles I shall now make allowances for my Irish friends particularly as they are so nice about my story. It was a balmy warm Saturday in Sydney reaching 20 degrees and I even got the washing dried.

Oh and Curvy and Susie, all this talk her about baseball and there is some real football on the TV; Australia lead Argentina 16-3 and NZ and SA drew 16 all.

I will have a wine this Saturday evening and the round is on me.
Morning all, coffee for me.

All this talk of hot weather, it is still cold down our way, 20 degrees but at least it is fine. And oh joy I have seen the first daffodils camellias and azaleas of spring. Summer is coming.

I did keep myself busy yesterday, and as a consequence I am flashing the bar. The story link is below, and as always thanks to Curvy who always seems to draw the short straw and moderate my stories. She is of course so lovely that she says she likes it.

There is also a poem, a sad one for me, written on the weekend when I realised a friend had seemingly left lush without a word.
Afternoon all, just taking a break from Saturday gardening. Yes weeds still seem to grow in a Sydney winter. Hope all is good in everyone's life and that Reese you get your on-line presence sorted out.

I am never going to look at a RR in the same way Ping, it will always now seem like a severed finger. I will be on for a beer later in the afternoon once the garden is tidy.
Wow, drinks on me, I am just so thrilled. As it has just gone 8 am this Friday morning I will stick to coffee, but have whatever you like on my tab.

Without getting too maudlin, thanks you lot; if will be a year ago tomorrow that I signed up to lush intending to write and it took me a while to find this place. Just got distracted I guess, but now I am here I have learnt that this is the best bar in the virtual universe and I have always felt welcomed and supported in my writing.

Congratulations to all 51 writers, every story was a joy to read. Special thanks to those who left such wonderful and encouraging comments on my story.

I will certainly have a drink or three later in the day
Congratulations to all fifty-one writers who entered; every story was, for me, a joy to read. Inspirational and oh so in keeping with the Pride theme, special congratulations to jaded_buddha, Ping and the rest of the top ten.

Super contest and I loved being part of it. Thanks to Nicola and all those who organised and judged this contest.

Um, I set out to write my story in a way that was worthy of the contest theme and the simply wonderful comments, including those from writers I admire, have been so encouraging. To have won is, to be honest, overwhelming and I am, unusually for me, speechless. Thanks so very much for your support, I appreciate it more than I have words to say. Special thanks to Curvy for moderating my story and her kind words.

Annie
Evening all, giggles, yes Thursday is only half an hour away. I will have a beer to end the day in celebration of not having been tasered.

Well, it hit 21 degrees this afternoon, not a cloud in the sky and I saw my first daffodil, so there is just a hint that winter is fading.

Big night in the bar last night, and good to see Ping's lily white ass (and taser plug) helping with the washing up.

That Beaver Breath Brandy certainly makes a girl forget her worries about tasers, and indeed makes her forget everything, including what I did with the next part of the film script.

Enjoy Wednesday, I have finished with it and it was cool.

The air was electric that day as Sprite walked into Rump's bar. Sparks flew, as the kitten limped up to the bar, and Rump looked nervously at his bottles, wondering whether this was the anti-Christ and the pulse of electrons from the taser she carried would turn his fine wine into water.

"What will you have, Fanta Klare Zitrone," he asked, showing both a surprising knowledge of the history of nonalcoholic drinks and more importantly shocking those straight and bisexual woman propping up the bar who hadn't quite seen him as a cunning linguist, a position they reconsidered in light of his fluent command of German.

He took 30,000 volts for that impertinence, considering it worth it for the enhancement of his reputation. But, seeing the pussy's discharge the bar flies were stunned into silence.

"What's up, cat got your tongue," the lemon/lime one, observed, as with one final limp on her poorly paw, she reached the bar, leaving all and sundry puzzled whether that was an invitation or not.

She looked around, the air static with fear, and asked, "I am after the bitch that shot my paw."

"Your mother too?" a comedian asked, taking 30,000 volts, which turned that stand up routine into a lie down twitching routine.

"The spark seems to have gone between us," someone else observed with a deep laugh.

The second attempt at humour resulted in a third twitching body on the bar floor; and an aside from the Chartreuse drinking greenie, "The benefits of renewable energy."

They patrons all looked at each other hoping for a lightening strike of inspiration. And it came and someone whispered, "Oh that will be Annie. At this time of day she is at the Emergency Ward."

"Best place for her, she will be shocked to see me," Sprite said vanishing as any good supernatural entity should. Though not for good, as it turns out there is always a second cumming in horror stories, disproving the saying that lightening doesn't strike twice.

I could only find the first page of the film script ... I imagine there is more in this shocking tale. Welcome back Reese, the quality of humour has not improved since you have been gone.

*zaps you with 3000 volts of electricity* that should get you pedaling.

The strength of your feelings came as a shock to me.

A coffee for me before I head of to the Emergency Department, perhaps the best place for me after teasing the Seattle trigger finger.

Hope you all had a good weekend, Monday here is kind of cold (16C) but a beautifully fine winter's day.

what heat? i live in seattle. it's raining here. should be raining tomorrow, too. a while back i decided to let my hair grow. downside? it's a pain when it's wet and i live in seattle, where it's always wet.

whiskey, please. dry. biggrin

A dry whiskey for Sprite on my tab, Rump, now that I realise it is the perfect drink for a Seattle woman. Should I point out that a quiet word (am I allowed to mention pillow talk, giggles?) with Jen might get you one of her pretty umbrellas, which will save you a wet hair day?

And, of course, looking more closely at you profile, there is the ACT which while even colder in the winter has boiling hot dry summers. And mate you will learn to talk proper, like a real sheila, though does a vegetarian ever 'put another prawn on the barbie.'

I am serious about the whiskey Rump, at 6pm on a winter Wednesday it is the perfect aperitif. Cheers all, Wednesday was cool, you will like it.
Morning all, coffee and donuts would be perfect this morning. You all remember that if the heat becomes unbearable, a flight, longish I will admit - 14 hours from San Francisco (I have promised myself never ever Los Angeles again) or 22 hours from London - will bring you to a Sydney winter.

Now I would complain about the 14 degrees C currently and the low of 8 C overnight, but last time I did that Curvy pointed out that sometimes could be a summer day in her part of the world. But I am finding it cold, though now that we are past the shortest day, summer feels like it is just over the horizon.

I hope Tonya, that your tests are good. And also I had never considered making limoncello, but we have a lot of lemons now on our lemon tree, so that gives me a good idea. Finally thanks to all those who left lovely comments on my story, I really appreciate it.

Still open as of (almost) 9am EDT this morning (July 7).

As we are now 30 minutes into the 8th of July does that mean the contest has closed in Australia.

Have a good Sunday everyone, mine was great. Managed some gardening and family time in a pleasant winter's temperature of 19 degrees C.

Honestly though that's the best Wicker Man, its classic.

and this ..lol

Oh yes, the Muppet Wicker Man is a gem. And as for that Carry On movie poster, 'No smoke without pyre,' I am trying to imagine who writes this and how they explain their career path to their friends.

How do you find this stuff Vanessa, lol?
Evening all, have seen and liked the original Wicker Man and well yes the lasagne looks so good. Dinner is done for me but a final glass on wine would be good, red to help combat the winter chills .

Will raise my glass to the 47 wonderful other entries in the Pride competition. I have read them all now and absolutely love the diverse takes on diversity. Congratulations everyone xx
Evening all, and Happy 4th July to my American friends. The 4th passed cold and wet in Sydney and I trust there is better weather for your celebrations.

Stories are flooding in and I am barely managing to keep up. But loving the diverse entries reflecting the contest theme.

I will take a white wine as I mourn the tragic loss of so much bourbon. Cheers all.

Annie
Afternoon all, Wednesday was fine and cold around 15 degrees, in this neck of the Southern Hemisphere. I will join Susie in one of her red wines, I trust she will be restocking Rumps the fine Cabernet from France picked up on her holidays. I would ask for a slice of pizza to go with my wine, but you have to be kidding the size of that thing. Ah giggles not really the sentence I should leave hanging on Lush.

Thanks Fuzzy for the music, loving your selection. As for the contest deadline looming like a hungry bird of prey, I am feeling the pressure as I thought I could easily read them all by the 6th. And I just realised I am only two thirds through. But I am really enjoying them and savouring them, such a worthwhile topic that has bought out some fabulous work.

And thanks to those who have commented and voted on my story. I really appreciate the kind words, totally confidence building. Perhaps a second red as I prepare dinner. I have tried Wednesday and it is good, I am sure you will like it too.
Well done Susie, it was my favourite the moment I saw it. Just adore the black and white opening to reveal the rainbow. Even better I loved how so many people changed their avatar and represented Pride. Congratulations all.

Well done LYFBUZ and those that helped for organising this, a great way to demonstrate solidarity. And yes I am, albeit slowly, reading my way through all the stories. About a third done so far, but aim to read them all by the 6th. My special thanks to those that have read and commented on my story, I am almost overwhelmed by the lovely things you have said. Thank you so much, it means more to me than you might imagine.

Love is love. We shall overcome.

Annie
I had better stick to coffee Rump as I start work in 40 minutes.

I hear it is Canada Day, so happy Canada Day to my Canadian friends. I read a few stories this morning, finding them excellent and have promised myself to read them all before the competition closes. Rump you are a gem for this place, a haven for writers and the best bar in the virtual universe. I adore how you make everyone welcome and you are right for me it is about becoming a better scribbler.

Now that I have learnt your beer definitions Vanessa, for me craft beer wins hands down. As elsewhere craft is having quite a renaissance in Australia and nothing beats it as a summer drink on a hot day. Sadly we are a few months away from summer but I am living vicariously from your northern hemisphere comments.

Catch you later
Is that really a question Vanessa, absolutely craft beer. Unless of course this antipodean sheila doesn't understand what domestic means, thinking of Budweiser.

Anyway, red wine loosens Susie's tongue does it, and she is in France. Rump a magnum of Saint-Emilion s'il vous plaît, delivered to the pale Irish and the bronzed Aussi writers propping up the end of the bar.

Well, and I seriously mean this, thank you so very for the comments on my story. I am overwhelmed to be honest, and I truly appreciate it. I am working my way through the other wonderful stories and while, Luca, I haven't got to yours yet, I will do so.

Just loving this competition, and, as I pour Susie another red wine, also wondering whether she says as well as writes embarrassing things after a few reds. Have a good Sunday, mine is at an end and it is almost bedtime.

edit - have read it. it's an amazing piece - everyone here needs to read it. you really outdid yourself, Annie.

Already read it! *looks smug* and I couldn't agree more, Spritey, Annie has really out done herself. A wonderful story!

Well since you're asking so nicely, Rumps, I'll have another then.

Thank you both so very very much, your support of my story means so much to me. As promised your next drinks here are on me, I will have a Chardonnay this cool wintry Friday afternoon.

Really really appreciated xx

Annie
Morning all, coffee to start my Friday.

Overnight my competition story, 'On Oxford Street, This Gay Girl Found Pride While Playing With Balls,' was published. Thanks Curvy for moderating and your kind words. And thanks to Greenman for your kind words as well.

I would appreciate it if others could take a look so I get enough support to qualify. Giggles, knowledge of Australia and rugby, while an advantage, is not essential. And those that comment positively can enjoy a drink here on my tab.

Now that I have finished writing I am working my way through the other entries, and the first three I read from DeviantSusie, GreenMan and Ping were fabulous, so I am looking forward to finding the time to enjoy more.

Good evening... popping into Rumps to spread festive joy.. whoops wrong season.. Annie confused me with her talk of autumn earlier.. try again...

Good evening, please whichever adorable degenerate is behind the bar in Rump's absence, can I have a deliciously cool pint of something nice.. like Budweiser.. and I mean the Czech pilsner Budvar brewed since before that American excuse was even thought of. Speaking of Annie and her travels, I went to České Budějovice, home of Budweiser. It was amazing. Thoroughly recommend it

I'm off on my holidays on Monday so may not be propping up the bar too much for the next while.. so I may as well have a second pint while I'm here..

Stick one for Curvy and Annie on my tab..I'm sure they will be in soon enough xx

Thanks for the welcome back Susie, Curvy and Vanessa, and yes I will have a beer on Susie's tab too. Cheers and wishing happy holidays to my Northern Hemisphere friends.

Have a good time en vacances Susie, and yes yes I know, back to the writing. Slow progress but I am determined to get this done.
Hi everyone, well I have returned from holidays (or vacation for my North American friends.)

Annie, Annie who? I see you asking yourselves. Well I was here before, drawing inspiration from the booze, no I mean from the writers who frequent the best bar in the virtual universe.

An extended break, my longest ever, taking in Japan China Vietnam Cambodia and Singapore, and I loved every minute of it. Now back in a Sydney winter, though I promise not to moan about the temperature as today I thought it was so cold at under 10 degrees centigrade, and I sense only in Australia is that considered really cold.

Anyway, I saw the new competition while overseas, had an idea and started, but you know how things go when on holiday, and so, yes, I am way behind and in danger of not completing it on time. And, as I tend not to read other entries until I have finished mine, reading all your fine work will have to wait. So if you see me online feel free to say, "Go away Annie and write and don't come back until you have finished." I would be embarrassed if I was forced to reveal how many half done stories I have on my hard drive, including another I started when away. That is why I love the competitions as they have a deadline.

A glass of Pinot Noir this Friday afternoon, and I hope you all have a good weekend.
I like the idea behind this, drawing on the French Revolution cry of liberté, égalité, fraternité and pointing to the cultural revolution in thinking that is unfolding albeit more slowly that we would like. Just need to get the flag bigger and maybe lose the guns.

Anyway I was really impressed with the deviant one's entry which is so brilliantly conceived, black and white opening up to the pride colours. Has my vote Susie, not that I have a vote so bribes will be wasted on me.
Congratulations Hannah, and well done to all who entered. I loved the banter and the quality of the stories. Really appreciate the nice comments on Ned Kelly. Thanks to all involved, a great competition. And so for the last time, such is life.
Good morning all, a coffee to start my Thursday. A perfect sunny autumn (or fall) day beckons and Easter is here.

My ongoing sympathy for Paris and the meaning this Easter will have.

Now I will be on holiday or vacation depending on your preferred choice of words. And, in the words of Oates, "I am just going outside and may be some time," but unlike him I have every intention of returning.

It is early I know, but congratulations to the Notorious contest winners. I really enjoy this competition and my thanks, having exceeded my expectations and cracked 50 votes, for the support I received from those I met here. The collegiality that I had heard make Lush a great place is on display here every day in the bar.

See you soonish ...

Wandering Annie

#MeToo. And it's even better live on stage.

Oh I so agree and funnily enough Rocky Horror is a favourite of my parents, but it crosses the generations.

Thanks to everyone who has commented on my story. I am overwhelmed by the positive feedback I have received from fellow writers.

Best bar in the virtual universe, and I am looking forward to party time when the results are in.

It is 6 pm on a cooler Tuesday so a glass of white for me - Savignon Blanc or Riesling perhaps. Does Rumps actually have New Zealand or Australian wine, as I imagine stock the best don't you?
Evening all and this Friday evening I could do with a drink. Overnight shifts last few nights have been painful, but with a drink I will be ready to party. Make mine a beer to start.

New Orleans, Paris it all makes me travel envious. But fortunately I have a trip on the horizon which I am looking forward to. Cheers all, read the competition stories, you hear.

Such is life.
Hey Carl you wanted sexy girls and we have delivered. Tonya Curvy and two Annies, could there be a more sexy quartet.

Though I am worried about the other Annie, of course I admire a fierce determination to win and I know we all have our kinks, but kitten shooting!!!

But I hope you have read and commented on all out stories and of course rated them highly, after all rump patrons rule.

Now for that most difficult part of the day, when it is morning time and everyone wants coffee. But here is oz it is 10pm and I need a drink, perhaps a whiskey to end the day. Such is life.

Go read my story if you haven't.
