Like many have mentioned, I really enjoyed both the book and adaptions of Shawshank redemption, Harry Potter, Hunger Games(and even better, Catching Fire!), Interview with a Vampire, To Kill a Mockingbird, and The Millennium series.
I enjoyed Gone with the Wind, but thought the adaption of Scarlett left a bit to be desired. The Shining was a great book, but was not adapted well, to my dismay. (makes me question if I want to see the potential adaption of the gunslinger series.)
Others not mentioned Ive really enjoyed were The Black stallion(Francis Ford Coppola), The last of the Mohicans(James Fenimore Cooper was a bit wordy, but still quite good), The Hunt for Red October (Sean Connery, Tom clancy both great), Thunderball(James bond, from one of the original books) and others.
