Sometimes I am in the mood for "quick wank material", but for the most part I want…something "real" (even if it's hardcore, which I always prefer), I guess. It doesn't have to be long and drawn out, but it has to have substance. I very rarely get really turned on by stories that are just about the fucking. They have to make sense. I want to know how the characters got to that point, why they're fucking, and so on. I want details. Not: Mary was horny so she went to her employer's office and said "let's fuck" and he whipped out his fifteen inch dick without question and they screwed like rabbits before coming six times. The end. Just a little mention of how interested they were in each other beforehand, or something to that affect so the sex won't seem so out of the blue, will go a long way in making me interested.
Smut that seems unrealistic just doesn't do it for me anymore. But hey, that's just me. People like different things, and I personally have nothing against quick and dirty smut. Like I mentioned earlier, sometimes I'm even in the mood for it. But more often than not I want something I can really get engaged in.

I've only published three stories on Lush so far and so I feel a little weird commenting to this thread, but whatever.
One of my main goals is to get people off.
I want them to read my stories, my fantasies, and get as aroused by reading them as I get by writing them (if not more so). That was probably my only real 'specific' goal when I uploaded my first two stories.
And then I wrote another one and decided to take more care in cleaning it up before sending it off. And so I did, and it got 'recommended', and that felt really good. So now on top of writing stories that will hopefully cause a lot of squirming, I also want to continue to have my works 'recommended'. If nothing else it will push me to be more thorough with editing.
It would be lovely if I were to one day get on the 'Editor's Picks' list (and perhaps even win a competition!), though I most definitely have a long way to go before I get there. And that brings us to my main goal: to improve.
Writing has only ever been a hobby for me, albeit a major one. I have no delusions about maybe one day being a spectacular, award winning author, but at the very least I'd like to be a writer who can write well and and move an audience.

I did it once with an acquaintance of mine from school and didn't really enjoy it. I mean, the exhibitionist aspects of it were fun...turns out I secretly like being watched, which is surprising considering I'm a bit shy. Otherwise, my partner kind of sucked.
