Living in picturesque Southern Brittany, James Sillwood readily acknowledges the surroundings at his cottage inspire his writing. Growing up with a father in the Armed Forces, James moved around frequently as a child and, at the age of sixteen, he joined a merchant shipping company which traded along the River Amazon in Brazil. Since then, he has lived in Amsterdam and Portugal with frequent visits to the West Indies.
Interests James now divides his time between writing and music. As an accomplished pianist he plays regularly at a restaurant in Carnac and at various venues in Brittany with a Latin jazz quartet. It is here, in Brittany, that Amatore's Restaurant has recently been completed and published with Amazon Kindle. This book, along with two other novels currently in progress, have been long term projects; the first ideas for the plot and characters taking shape well over ten years ago. When taking a break from performing and writing, James enjoys trying out regional recipes and visiting local markets.
