Get new friends. ๐ The idea that 50 is a considerable milestone is ridiculous, don't buy in to it. Exercise (mind & body), eat healthy, lots of water & moisturize. 50 is the new 40.

Oh man, just from these hints I smell a work of pure genius brewing.๐ค๐๐คฃ
Good evening, folks. Survived another day. Nowhere near as productive as Lyfbuz on the writing front. I think I managed c. 900 words last night.
lol Seeker you are too kind. I've read enough of your work to HOPE i can find 900 words of similar impact and quality. case in point I have a line of dialogue: โEnough games you little punk. Talk. And it better be good.โ Now I'm pretty sure that won't survive editing but....

Right out of my Micro lexicon -- I hope you have better luck with them.
I've been rewriting like crazy, but I'm almost done with tomorrow's shopping list -- still can't decide if I should crank it up with cranberry preserves or go old-school ripe cherry.
brilliantly funny
yeah James, the blue site may be an option. There are restrictions there that I'm trying to write around. Appreciate all the comments re SS. I wasn't sure if cross-promotion was still ok here.

31000! Sweet Jesus, Lyfbuz! Do you have a few thousand words you can toss my way? I got nuttinโ.
Is this for a Lush story?
yeah, I'm kinda floored myself. WAY above my typical output. The principal characters are teenagers so it won't be for Lush. I'm not sure it will ever get posted because the more authentic I make the story the more it falls afoul of site rules here and elsewhere.
I will however allow you a few words; shimmer, gaze, escalate, prescient ![]()
oh and a coffee please.
Great poll and question. Agree the 2-4K is the sweet spot. As a writer I typically fall into that range, not by design but probably because I run out of ideas or motivation. As a reader, same sweet spot but if the quality is there the word count is less important. In all the cases I can think of over 4000 words it was a series broken into smaller chunks of 2-4K. Like others above i want to know about the characters, what they are thinking and feeling, who they are. I love browncoffee's work, I loved how she would get inside the heads of her characters. (One example, many great writers here do this.)
Coincidentally, have 32000 words of a new story (non-erotica, may go on sister site) so this is rather timely. There are some good natural breaks that will keep a Chapter to 2-4K but in other spots I'm wondering what edits I might need to either create a break in the right spot or link the end of a chapter to the next chapter. Also toying with the idea that each Chapter would stand on its own as a "read'. (difficult because the story builds on the previous and the reader would miss some of the context.) I'm expecting the story will reach 40,000 words and I'm already editing heavily. Its crossed my mind to only post the ending Chapter because i think its the strongest and I'm pretty sure if I post 8-10 Chapters by Ch 10 all the readers will have dropped off and NOBODY will read the ending.
I started off with a few poems because I figured that would be easy (not necessarily good.) My first story was a Flash piece, the first time I wrote erotica in my life in 2015. I don't consider myself as being a particularly talent writer, I can write an average story but realize there is nothing fresh or new.
It was really my second story, written as a first person lesbian that kind of got me going. I liked the challenge of writing from the opposite gender's perspective.
As for rewrites or things I would change: I always seem to catch at least one thing AFTER I post. As I've improved my writing I see more things I wish I would have written differently. With most stories I write I'm usually very happy with parts of it but I don't maintain that consistency throughout. The resources here as well as chats, comments etc have all been massively instructive as well as reading the work of better writers.
Lastly I write because its fun. I don't get too concerned about having the most views or whatever. Its fun. ![]()
This actually does happen to me. A lot. Events will occur in my dreams then take place in real life EXACTLY as I dreamed. It used to freak me out a bit when I was a teenager now I just roll with it. Its pretty spooky to be in a room and I'll know verbatim what people are going to say. For some reason I know I'm not supposed to intervene and change the course of what's happening. Don't ask me HOW I know this, I just know it.
What is the one thing you would change from your high school years?
I'd go in a heartbeat if I could afford it. I'm not a huge supporter of space tourism per se nor the inevitable commercialization of space but I am hugely in favour of space exploration. Most anecdotal evidence from astronauts suggests its an amazing experience that changes ones view of the planet in a good way.
The commercialization of space worries me as space will ultimately be the high ground in a future war of superpowers. Just who will own what and what it might be capable of is a bit scary.
