This is a good reminder for me. I used to meditate but found the only time available was in the evening. It was relaxing but also very energizing to the point where I had trouble sleeping so I stopped. Time for a retry, perhaps in the morning this time.

I generally don't feel stress or get depressed and I'm not sure my advice is useful in that I take on both as an adversary to be beaten to dust. Kind of a 'fuck you' attitude toward both. For whatever reason this is a strong motivator for me, maybe because I just like a fight.

Lots of great advice here though and the number 1 for me is get out in nature, the woods, touch rocks and trees and water. This has been a huge part of my lifestyle since I was a kid and I am convinced this is the main thing that keeps me on an even keel.

#2: fill your life with good people. Folks who are negative, make you feel bad/unhappy/'less than' are fucking worthless, cut them loose.

Interesting, I was also a PM in my last job and was PM for a variety of large IT and construction projects which is somewhat astounding given I have zero qualifications and these were all multi-year, multi-million dollar projects. I don't miss it at all, you spend too much time arguing with fools.

Went for a long walk today and apparently they are shooting some major TV or film production by one of the trails I walk regularly. They used less trucks to shoot "Chicago" in Toronto. I may pop by tomorrow and see if I can get a cameo. I don't work for scale though. LOL

As an olive branch Canada offers Trumpy time onscreen via Starlink which unfortunately crashes at the worst possible moment.

16 million people, male and female experienced domestic violence in the US in 2024. Of those I expect the vast majority are 'vanilla' relationships (or lack of relationship.) So maybe vanilla relationships are the problem? An often repeated argument about BDSM is that the participants are 'damaged', most typically from childhood. So that would lead me to conclude that vanilla families that are dysfunctional lead to subsequent BDSM activities later in life. As has been posted more eloquently above there are far too many nuances and differences to automatically conclude bdsm (or vanilla) is bad.

There are only 3 Competition winners in the Top 20, none in the Top 10 so its a list of who has a big fan base, nothing more.. but yeah, if it really matters, have the Top 30,000.. Lets drown in data

I wouldn't be in favour of extending the Top Author list but perhaps because I'm unlikely to ever be on it. I think susie's post is really interesting. I like to think my stories are well written and I do OK on Comps which does not necessarily mean lots of views. I do agree that the Top Authors list is at least partly a popularity contest but also find that the top authors are often the most prolific and they write what people like to read. For me personally I'd think that EPs and RRs are more indicative of a top quality story and a top author but that doesn't necessarily mean they are popular. I have an RR that has about 600 views.

Congrats to Ascendant, Katherine and el_henke as well as the Top 10. Hoping I can read all the entries in the next few days, apologies for not getting to these sooner.

The problems come from accidents and stupid people doing stupid things, not from people responsibly using and storing tools.

In 2022 approx 48,000 people died in USA from firearms, of those approx. 20,000 were homicides. Its estimated that injuries are more than double that. 20,000 gun murders seems like a pretty big problem to me, never mind the injuries. If 20,000 deaths are no big deal then 9/11 was a peashooter.
