I was thinking about this... I've found that the people who've struck up a conversation and been most fun to chat to are ones who maybe send a pm or friend request after reading a story (me reading and commenting on theirs or vice versa) or maybe we've seen each other in the forums... Perhaps we have mutual friends and they've seen things I've posted on their wall or something...
In other words, if I have something in common with the person chatting, something beyond, hey...
I don't have too much free time here and I have to say I find it irritating if someone hits me up with things like: hey I'm horny, are those your breasts, I'm so hard, oh and text speak... It pisses me off from the get go...
I dislike the shotgun approach: where a user simply sends out loads of hits simply in the hope that someone will bite. It's like cold calling... I won't respond favourably to that.

I warned Nic it might not be eligible since it was a consolidation, rewrite and renaming of a five-part series I posted on Lush about three years ago and then deleted when it got very little interest. At first it was posted as a contest entry in the 'supernatural' category. Gav was able to re-categorize the poor thing but moving it out of 'contest entry' with the deadline fast approaching is probably more trouble than it's worth.

You're welcome and I really enjoyed it!! I have started at least two stories for the competition but alas they have gone off on tangents and aren't really competition fodder now, so it looks like I won't be submitting a story for it this time... However, what I do have are two really solid stories that I think I can actually be proud of once they are done - although, I'm not sure that they'll really be 'lush' - guess I'll see how they pan out but they feel more like proper writing, which is a nice feeling, I must say. I think my writing style has evolved quite a lot since I first joined Lush.
I'm actually working on a play with a screenwriter friend and the exciting thing is that it will actually be performed during the summer, which will hopefully open some doors for me!! (it's certainly helping to detract from the crap that's surrounding me in real life at present...) *sigh*
Anyway, time for a refill on that coffee mug I think!!
