I'm sure there are (in fact I know there are) but some don't like to advertise it. I'm not, but then again... I like almost everyone.

Yes. I have given an RR which was removed by administration. It was a poem. I understood it, and it took a lot of effort to read, but I thought it was as good a poem as any written in the USA in the 21st century. I have been especially stingy with my RRs since, especially when it is poetry, which is very subjective. I know that it hurt the poet, but it hurt me as well, I wouldn't want to impose that on any writer. I should have had the poem reviewed and criticized by others before awarding the RR, I suppose, but I generally award RRs based on what I like. My taste in poetry leans toward the beat poetry of the mid 20th century, and French symbolism. I learned from this incident that I shouldn't try to impose my taste on others.

RRs are not awarded at random. They are not awarded as a gesture of friendship. They are one moderator's attempt to show the readership a story or poem that they think is worthy of the reader's time. I don't have time to read every story or poem on Lush, so my RRs are generally awarded to stories that I have verified myself, but any moderator can award an RR to any story or poem at any time. Any story or poem can be nominated for an EP. There really is no favoritism. Some outstanding writers and poets just draw a lot of readership from the moderation staff. Their chances of an RR are better because more mods read them.

Become outstanding. Become familiar to the moderators by writing good stories and poems. Read the Lush requirements. Proofread. A story which needs lots of proofreading is very likely to be sent back. I have never seen a story which had a huge amount of punctuation and grammatical errors which was of RR quality. Usually there are other issues.

Learn to write. Don't just send your masturbation scribbling in expecting it to be posted. Just because it gets you off doesn't mean it's publishable. Learn the craft. Even the best writers make some mistakes, of course, but they are usually the ones most happy to have them corrected.

These are my last thoughts on this subject.

First off... I didn't know an RR could be removed... so that's actually good to know.

As to the bitching & whining within this thread... holy fuck!

Now, there is no guarantee you'll like an RR or an EP. In fact, there's a story that earned an EP for placing in the Top 10 of a comp that I personally dislike. I won't say which one because the author is one of Lush's best and this story in particular is not one I enjoyed... though the judges of the comp felt otherwise and thus I respect their decision.

As to identifying which Mod give a story an RR, that should be between the author and the Mod. I know the other Mods can see who give the story an RR (a perk of being a Mod) but that's it. I currently have 19 RRs out of 52 stories and each one means the world to me. Those RRs mean someone thought my story was worthy of recommendation. I will say they weren't all from the same Mod, in fact... they were from several different Mods and I'm sure each one felt that my story or stories were worthy. I wish to add that I've never asked any Mod to give any of my stories an RR... but I have said thank you for thinking my story was worthy.

Personal favorites for readers is a feature we have. If any member marks a story as a favorite... it appears on their page below their friends and above who they are following. If someone sees that I have Want by AvrgBlkGrl on my favorites... and the click to see it's a comp winner and an EP, they might enjoy reading it.

I will never question what Mod awarded a story with an RR... even if I don't like it.

If you don't like the way things are done here... then leave... but for fuck's sake... grow the fuck up & like Buz said...

If you want RRs, then submit RR quality!
It's not my fucking fault that you took the wrong roads & got lost! You were staying with one of the brides' parents & you didn't fucking bother to verify the address of the wedding or get some fucking directions! Why the fuck can't you say something polite to me instead of yelling at me first thing? You embarrassed me in front of my family and lots of strangers. Fucking man up and accept the sheer fact you didn't bother to double check and/or verify the fucking address!!

I am so tired of people bullying you! Honestly. This thread can't be about you though. A serial troll? Whatever. Haters gonna hate.

I will also admit that the bickering that goes on is quite entertaining. like the dead fake girlfriend. Or was it the girlfriends fake death. I agree with OMKN. I also know people will always get their "feelings" hurt, and go and blame a troll or cartoon or a video game, etc. because, they can't accept they actually choose to be upset. Victims. Poor babies.....but look, some of you DO bully Jack. Many of you try to bully him, have him banned, what fucking ever.

Y'all keep bitching about online bullying. Log off for fuck sake. And only trolls create these troll poll threads anyway. Stupid. But still entertaining.

Are you serious about who was being bullied & who is the bully here? Seriously... if this poll or anything else offends you... don't respond... log off... go away. Who did the bulk of the name calling here? It wasn't me, Simmer, Trinket, or Patoki. If said member feels he is truly being bullied... then he can go crying to the Mods and utilize the block. As I understand that is exactly WHY the block was put into place.

However, I already know you had made up your mind before you read one line in this thread because you've been drinking too much kool-aide.

This thread isn't Trinkets fault. It's mine. Like I said to Ravenstar, I'm sorry. i have learned more than you think about interpersonal relationships on this site, some good, some not so good, but as long a lesson is learned I can sleep tonight. I feel very bad that this has turned into a shit show. It is my fault, I was tired of what I perceived to be partiality when I don't even know what goes on behind the scenes. Please don't blame someone else for my mistake. I'll eat the crow. Liz, Coco, Dani and especially Sprite, I'm sorry to have put you in this position. Everyone has a bad day, and it's clearly obvious I'm not perfect. My biggest flaw and best quality is that I stand up for what I believe, but sometimes I don't know when to shut the hell up.

I'm not upset with you Simmer. Trinket misread my response. She took everything I said as being aimed at her when it wasn't. I was agreeing with her in the beginning then pointing out an observation I've seen in several forum threads form several members. I didn't name any names because I was trying to NOT shit-stir (though it would be an easy list to write.)

I will stand by my statements earlier including that while the block isn't a perfect fix, it cuts back on the drama and bullshit. I never said Trinket bitched about the block though I do think she made an error about how the block worked until recently. However, that is an easy thing to misunderstand if you don't know how it works exactly. Best solution is to ask a Mod politely about the block and how it works. I would guess they would rather answer a question or two then deal with the reports of harassment or bullying... however this is just an educated guess on my part.

Gawd, this thread is still going??? I thought it was about cereal trolling.

OMG! This is hysterical & thank you for the giggle!
Quote by trinket
That's the complete opposite to what you say to me in private.

Really Trinket... is that how you're choosing to remember it? Have you not seen it for yourself?

I don't bitch about the block, but I have seen several in the forums do exactly that. Ironically, it's typically the same members who do the most shit-stirring and I'm intentionally NOT NAMING ANY NAMES HERE! However, you just fed those who think ill of me more ammunition so thanks. Maybe you need to go back and reread what I have said you to in private since you made this public, get your facts straight and stop listening to those who are exactly as I said... SHIT-STIRRERS!

Oh, and for the record... I have NEVER ONCE reported you for shit & I also don't share what you've said to me in a public forum ever. Whatever. Think what you will.
Quote by trinket
It's the same from the other side of the fence. It's not only me anymore is it? Everyone else must be imagining it too. Yeah I've got a couple of people blocked NOW. I wasn't able to block everything until a few weeks ago. It still doesn't fix the problem. It's just hiding it.

While I agree somewhat that blocking a member who gets under your skin and on your last nerve doesn't solve the problem... it sure as fuck cuts back on the drama and bullshit thus making the Mods' job a bit easier (not that they have an easy job to begin with.)

Blocking a shit-stirrer is a better option than leaving the site or bitching at the Mods who do what they can... even if we think they don't do enough. It was clearly said earlier by a Mod (I believe Dani though it might have been Coco, Rach, or Liz) that a lot goes on behind the scenes that we don't see.

I find those who bitch the loudest about the block are typically the ones who do the most shit-stirring.

This is a well-intentioned thread, and I am sympathetic, but we all know which serial offender this topic is mainly about, and the fact that this site is moderated by a tight clique of individuals whose favor has been curried by this talented shithead, renders the point moot. He's not going anywhere, so if everyone just stops responding to his ad hominem attacks and ignores him, his source of entertainment is removed, and he loses. And this applies to all trolls everywhere. It's not that the site is entirely unresponsive to this problem. I've actually seen Lush ban one of the most egregious trolls a while back. This one illustrious individual just has a free pass.

While I totally agree with you about the "one individual" this is aimed at, there has been a rash of new trolls who have disrupted things. Now, I have utilized the block two times since Gav improved it to the level it's at now, and one of those two is no longer a member due to said person violating the Lush TOS too many times. I know many have accused me of using it more, but the truth is, the block has helped to ease the stress of visiting the forums.

Are there times I read a post (usually multiple posts) from a member and shake my head? Sure. Do I wonder why said person is allowed pretty much say whatever they want? Sure. Do I think the Mods should do more? Here I'm on the fence. Someone pointed out earlier that of the Forum Mods (and not Story Mods who have stepped in to aid in the Forums), only one or two are currently active (it might be three) and thus it unreasonable to ask them to monitor the forums 24/7. However, if a Mod in any capacity (Forum, Story, Chat) feels the need to step in and not just give their opinion, then they need to do so in a clear and authoritative fashion. Then maybe those who act in a manor that might be deemed troll-like will either go away or knock it off.

Winning numbers were 20, 112 and 188. Snowqueen5120, Phynix11 and Aldesc respectively had chosen the winning numbers.

All three members are to be gifted Gold memberships by Nicola (the site matriarch). A huge thank you once again to Nicola for her generousity.

Thank you to everyone who entered and congratulations to the aforementioned 3 winning members.

So do rubbish ones! I just can't abide the thought of wasting a sausage up the bum! I mean, I like brown sauce, but really, I'm not eating it after that!

I was trying to be nice... though you do make a valid point as well. And why any woman would want to ruin food like that is beyond me.

Have any of you had what you thought was an original idea, only to find that it's been done before, or that somebody pipped you to the post?

As I always tell my students... Great minds think alike.
Hello and welcome to Lush. Take a look around and check out some of the story categories that interest you. Try the "Suggested" tab for stories that received either an RR or an EP. The Mods know quality when they read it.
Like a few others in this thread, I too did not know this lady, but that doesn't mitigate the loss one bit.

One is Parent-Teacher Conference, a story about how a single mom manages to earn the money for her son to go on a big school trip she could otherwise not afford.
https://www.lushstories.com/stories/reluctance/parentteacher-conference.aspx

I saw this and thought you were promoting my story of the same title. However, our Parent-Teacher Conference stories are vastly different. Mine involves a teacher who meet with the father of one of her students that morphs into something more. Perhaps some can read both and decide which they like more... or perhaps... will enjoy them both for different reasons.

Thank you!!

I'm truly honored to be mentioned amongst such great company. Just to name a few...

Wilful, ABG, Verbal, PervyStoryTeller, Gil and NymphWriter. I also need to mention GoodHusband and MovingOn14 for writing killer chapters.

To be in a list with such amazing writers is a true honor. Thank you.

Thank you Nymph.?

You're welcome! I can still remember when I first read it I thought, "Well fuck! I just lost that comp... maybe I'll take 2nd or 3rd place." Sadly... not only did I NOT do so well... my story didn't even earn an honorable mention or an RR. No biggie... awesome talent will always shine through... and with you my dear friend... truer words were never spoken.
I've never seen another site like this and I love Lush. I'd be curious what other knock-offs look like (imitation is the truest form of flattery.)
Okay... so when I replied to a wonderful comment on my story... I wasn't crazy that it posted as a new comment and not as a reply to the author of the original comment. I see from this thread I'm not alone in this one.

On a positive note... if the edit feature is a wonderful new addition. Thank you for that Gav.

Thank you for the mention NW. Your guidance helped me earn my first RR. I learn from you.

It was my honor. You're an amazing writer Trinity... and please note... you were in my original list.
