A little hard rock to liven up your morning. Northward was one-off band and album featuring Nightwish/After Forever lead vocalist Floor Jansen and Pagan Mind guitarist Jorn Viggo Lofstad. They co-wrote the songs in 2007 but due to conflicting calendars and life, didn't get an album recorded and released until 2018 when both their bands were on a break. It's a fantastic album, easily my favourite Floor album outside her work in Nightwish. Sadly, they were never able to tour the album but Floor has been singing many of the songs in her solo shows over the past 5-6 years, even doing some interesting new arrangements of some of them.

The Yankees series was during my Greek vacation and we actually had a guy on the cruise ship with us wearing a Jays jersey. Lots of Canadians over there in general, I found.

Oo, Cowboy Junkies. There's a name I haven't heard in a while. Great band back in the day. Should look and see what's up with them. It's a family band, with lead singer Margo Timmins and her two brothers founding the band.

Kind of grey and grim out, with rain expected as the morning wears on (radar shows it has crossed the border and is headed our way). I have a headache but that's par for the course on a day like this. Advil taken but for these headaches, it doesn't always do much.

Yeah, it happens. Some are odd fantasies I likely would not publish for various reasons, some are ideas that I get off on but that don't really fly when I actually write them. Usually they languish a while, then get deleted unless I think it's an idea I might come back to someday.

1991 Pontiac Firefly. Wife and I needed wheels quick and cheap and I came across a guy selling it privately. Got us through a few years but then we started trying for a baby and realized we would need something bigger as a family car so I sold it to my little brother and replaced it with a Ford Taurus.

I had one on StoriesSpace that I eventually took down. Dealt with depression and suicide.

Here? I guess I sometimes question my foray into IF but it's adult siblings so doesn't creep me out the way some scenarios there do.

Crap, so many musicians dying in their 40s and 50s right now. We lost Tomas Lindberg of At The Gates, one of the founders of the Swedish melodic death metal scene, at 52. And R&B singer D'Angelo was also 52. Sad.

I have a micro in draft. I usually try to do something spooky or scary or just weird for Halloween. Having lost most of the time period when I would be doing that to my vacation, I am going to try to do some micro or flash stories in that vein for both here and StoriesSpace.

Survived my first day back in the office. Pretty much a full day of meetings. Today is quieter. At least it's a short week this week.

Congratulations all. Nice to see some unfamiliar (to me, at least) names up there. I have largely let this one slip by me for various reasons but what I have heard about the field has all been positive.

I tend to fade into the background as much as possible but there are times and places where I will let my light shine. Used to lay preach and lead worship in my days in a Unitarian Universalist congregation, for instance.
