Fond memories of Breaking the Law - I used to ride to school with a guy who's fav album was British Steel.

Wasn't much into metal yet back then but I remember seeing Priest videos on the local music TV station's "Power Hour". And I have been listening to the band occasionally nowadays. Rob Halford is still looking and sounding pretty good in his 70s. Sadly, original guitarist Glenn Tipton has Parkinson's so gave up touring other than a guest appearance or two.

Hmm. Western. Not a Western fan. Or are you referring specifically to Lush genres, in which case BDSM. Not my kink, though I did do some mild-middling bondage a couple times on my old profile.

What in a story makes you "throw the book against the wall", i.e. makes you give it up fuming rather than just stop reading?

Had my baggage sniffed by dogs at Detroit a couple times but never a personal search or phone search.

HYE been fired with or without cause?

Groups. Not a chat fan.

Romantic sex with a known partner or wild, anonymous hookup?

We get takeaway from the hot counters in Asian groceries a lot. Char siu or sweet and sour pork, lemon chicken, General Tso chicken, deep fried fish fillets and shrimp, and a few others.

For restaurant takeaway, we just lost our recent favourite Chinese place (owners closed up) where we used to get good black bean chicken and various dim sum items. We do occasionally get Viet-Thai from a place near us, beef pho (rice noodle soup), pad thai, BBQ pork w. vermicelli.

For work, I have a list of places where I go to pick up lunches, but my favourite is Osmow's, a Canadian chain specializing in Middle Eastern. So falafel, shawarma, etc. Love their falafel on pita wrap.

A little truth goes a long way

I think this may almost be better writing advice that "Write what you know." A lot of us make stuff up in our stories. Some of us have things in our stories that don't even exist (demons, spirits, dragons, whatever). But it's those little bits of truth, the emotions that feel real, the moments that resonate, that often make a story successful. I don't always write what I know, but I do draw on life to make those moments happen. Perhaps writing what you feel matters, too.

I'm 60, balding, with a beard and chest hair shot through with white/grey. Some skin issues, too. So, yeah, I am probably pretty 60-looking.😀

hmm. now there is challenge. can i pull off an MM scene?

I got Girl Girl down.. Back to Twain, write what you know.

I've done MM and FF. Twain notwithstanding, imagination and research count for something.

I have a quandry with the first story I mentioned above. I am finding the current ending too straightforward and pat, but any alternative gets weirdly complicated. Otherwise, it's pretty much good to go.

I think we had already started using them even for between the thighs sex (yes, there's a non-zero risk even from that) so yes when we went to actual intercourse.

We are at the edge of the system so not as bad as some places. I'm fine but will have some serious shoveling to do tonight or tomorrow morning.

Do you ever wish you were living in the pre-Internet era?

Often but I'm not a violent person at heart, I just think it.

HYE been stopped for customs or immigration concerns while entering or leaving a country?

I use Nightcafe (and I think some others here do) but it has limits on "NSFW". Basically, depending on which of their models you use, you can do nudity to some degree but any physical contact between nude people or even in a suggestive scene seems to trigger them. But it's good for the first two. You can pretty much run on it for free as long as you do some of the activities they offer to earn credits. That said, if you're going to do a lot, then probably want to look at their plans. I have not had to go that route, yet, though.

I am not inclined to hate people but definitely was not happy.

HYE been led astray by a GPS or mapping app (e.g. Google Maps)?

I could write a book on how many Canadians just don't know how to drive in winter.

What non-erotic genre of fiction is your favourite?

Good question. Probably depends where you are and how much value you put on owning your residence. In many cities around here, real estate seems to have peaked so it's no longer the killer investment it was for the boomers and gen X. But some people just feel more comfortable owning their space, and I get that. You just can't expect to make bank on it anymore, at least in the places I am familiar with. Personally, I would rather have a smaller space than I currently do and wouldn't mind renting or at least going condo or co-op so someone else does the property maintenance.

Do you think virginity and the act of losing it is overrated?

Snow is falling here but not very intense yet. We are kind of on the Northern edge of the system, so only 10-15cm (4-6in) is expected here. Take care and stay safe those of you taking a direct hit. Some Irish Breakfast tea would go good with a cupcake, I think.

Given I am a bit introverted and possibly highly sensitive, not sure an orgy would be a good experience for me. Too many people involved. One-on-one or a small group like a threesome likely fit my personality better. I am curious though and suspect it would be a good learning experience, if nothing else.

Kind of varies, actually. Usually whatever song I know some lyrics to and have heard recently. However, "Ever Dream" by Nightwish is a popular one, since that's a favourite. There's a bunch by them and their current lead singer Floor Jansen that tend to slip out when I am in a mood to sing.

Has anyone ever asked you to stop singing in the shower or elsewhere?

Yes. 12 hours in the big blackout of '03 was bad enough. We are very hydro-dependent and don't have a generator or solar for backup.

Do you have solar panels or use other alternative energy sources?

Not knowingly, no.

HYE written and sent a letter (by post or electronic) and then regretted it?

Looks like the worst of it is staying to the South of us but we are still in for 10-15cm (roughly 4-6 inches) of snow.

Do you go to the movie theater anymore?

What are your plans for tonight?

Nothing planned, really. Read, watch TV, write, who knows.

Do you fight dirty or fair?

Haven't had enough to do that with, really.

HYE met someone years after you first knew them and this time around, had some kind of intimate relationship with them (could be a hookup, could be something more substantial)?

Two projects right now plus an ongoing one that may never be complete.

I have a mostly finished story for the IF category. I think it's a bit different from the usual there so I hope it works. Looking good so far, though I had a great idea about messing with the genders and orientations of the protagonists. That would mean a hefty rewrite of the sex, which is about 1/3-1/2 of the story. Might be worth it, though.

Then I have a new story started this morning for a longstanding sf/f idea of mine. However, that's probably SS material. I don't want to waste time on sex when I've got a cool dark fantasy/horror story to tell. Might be chapter 1 of something longer, too. We'll see.

And then there's my longstanding, doomed to never end, female Robinson Crusoe story. I finally got it through my head to pull out reams of back story and add a "chapter 1" or maybe "prologue". That's written. There was just too much exposition happening and "show, don't just tell" was nagging at me. I might need a "chapter 2" as well to deal with some remaining exposition.

The Toronto production of Phantom of the Opera. Colm Wilkinson in the title role (yes, the original English Jean Valjean from Les Miz moved to Toronto for a spell) and in a theater specifically restored and renovated for it. It was already one of my favourite musicals and still is to this day.

What band or solo artist would you love to see live but you know you never will (either because they are no longer around or because they are just unlikely to ever be in a place you could see them)?

At least we have sun here today. I no longer need to joke about forgetting what it is called. 5-10cm forecast for tomorrow. Oh well, my tea shipment came today and the Amazon shipment we have coming isn't due until Monday so I guess we have time to shovel if needed.

Soft pretzel. Not that I don't like the crunchy sticks and loops, but there's some really taste-tastic about the soft baked ones.

A story based on truth, definitely, and here is why. emotion. T

Sure. There's characters, settings, and situations in my stories that have resonance in my own life. Take a look at the stories in my sig. The first has little that is literally true in it, but is a situation I feel a connection to and the character has a bit of me in him. The second, on the other hand, is what my life could have been like (or I hope so) if I had been more aware and accepting of a certain part of myself earlier in life.
