I'm not sure what Trump will/will not do. He did indeed say he'd destroy ISIS, but he also promotes isolationism and even wants countries where the US is fighting to pay for it.
We can't be complete isolationists and still want other countries to pay their fair share. That insinuates we back out entirely.
We should not have to carry so much of the weight and expecting assistance doesn't seem unreasonalbe to me at all. We are the major protectorates of the free world and it'd be good for our economy.
We can stay super power, sure, but expecting other countries pitch in more isn't really asking to much.

As far as reversing gay marriage, he said in the first debate that it is a dead issue, and has shown support of the LGBT community in his speeches. When the GOP forced the candidates to sign a pledge to do so, he refused at first and then relented. You don't think he did that just to get the GOP vote? I do.

if you don't think Pence is going to be informing a lot of his policies, you're forgetting Dick Cheny's run as VP. as for who really researches the VPs? Sprites do.
And it's not really about getting rid of Trump. it's about forcing him to jetison his cabinet picks and make more reasonable ones. it's about pushing him to moderate his policies into something that benefits americans, you know, like he promised? you do know that he just signed an act into being that will totally screw the VA? you remember the veterans, the people he told us all he loved and who he was going to help out by fixing the VA? well, he just undid the efforts of the Obama's and Biden's to help them - they had a measure in place that helped vets with job placement within the federal govt. it's gone now. hiring freeze. all those empty positions that need to be filled within the VA to help care for vets? frozen.
banning the national park system from tweeting? that's one of his first moves? RIP freedom of speech. fixing the americn infrastructure? naw - rather spend the money on building a wall - remember that one? the one that Mexico was going to pay for? guess again. tax payer dollars, baby. not sure what he's going to do about the fact that some of the land that he proposes to build it on is private. oh, right, ask the Sioux at Standing Rock what his plans most likely are.

Yes, I agree with a lot of what you're saying. He really stuck it to us with his cabinet picks. You know what's really awful is being someone who has some voters remorse. He did lie to us on many things. He used to be a democrat and from all his 'narrative' he presented himself as progressive moderate.
I'm glad he got rid of the TPP and I still hope he improves our relationship with Russia.
He and Bernie had some really important things in common, like taxing the one percent. I believed he would make it easier for middle class kids to get a higher education with those taxes on Wall Street, just as Bernie wanted to do. If you'll recall, they both wanted to recind the TPP. As for Citizens United, I can see Trump getting rid of that too. He did pay for his own campaign, for the most part.
I would be willing to pay higher taxes (which I said earlier in another post) for more social programs, such as welfare and planned parenthood.
I sure as shit never expected someone like Steve Bannon to be in the mix. it made me sick, as did just about every ultra concervitive he appointed. The far right is against everything I believe in.
He's taking on abortion...I mean, I accept he doesn't want federal funds paying for it, or even planned paranthood offering it as a solution. But if he were to repeal Roe V Wade or get rid of planned parenthood I'll be sick as anyone else. Abortion is an entirely different argument so that's all I have to say about that.
I still don't like Hillary. As far as I can tell, pretty much anyone could have beat her (let's face it, Trump beat her.) Everyday I wake up and think "what stupid shit has he done today?" He can't make the National Parks not tweet, they can. Let him try because that'll go to the Supreme Court. There are still some things he cannot do. Someone needs to tell him he shouldn't be tweeting.
I was laying in bed last night thinking I'd like to post a survey thread, to see which ammendments can people think shoud be trashed. I'll bet there would be many different opinions. Again, a whole other thread, but it'd be an interesting one.
As far as the wall goes...well...all I can say is when he was running, and still is saying that he'd take the tariff money we'd get from trade, in the long run. His focus is on those American business's that went to Mexico for cheaper labor, making it cost effective to bring jobs back here. I know, I know...nobody needs to point out how they're sure it's not gonna happen. I'm keeping my fingers crossed it does. He's still saying this, so I haven't given up on that yet.
I haven't totally given up on him. How can I? I did vote for the man, and to say I have given up completely would be highly hypocritical of me. I'm hoping he froze hiring with the VA because he's making changes to improve it. I'm hoping he put a freeze on immigration from Muslim countries to create a better vetting system and that it'll only take a few months, like he promised.
I've been watching him since the first debate, and when he talked about deporting illegals, for one, anyone with common sense knows you can't deport eleven million people, so those law abiding people with homes and businesses will be able to stay. He said prior to the election he was looking at a more humane way to handle this than major deportation. He's been saying quite a long time that he want's to deport those with criminal records and I don't find that unreasonable.
Santuary cities...I know you live in one, and I don't so all I can say is this. I am worried that the funding will harm our homeless population. Scared to death about that because I have personally made them a priority in my area. I have headed up a collection of warm clothing with my main focus being on heavy coats, blankets and shoes, every year during the holidays for the last 5 years. As for illegal criminals, well, they need to go. Period. He has said he's only looking at deporting criminals. By definition a criminal is ' illicit, lawless, felonious, delinquent, fraudulent, etc.' He'll most likely create a registry for those here illegally to process them here.
I still have hope, but so far honestly, I have some misgivings, so if ya'll see me criticzize him from here on out now and then, please try and refrain from calling me a hypocrite. I really had faith he'd do the right thing. I'm still hoping things will turn out alright. Time will tell.

I really was hoping to not get into this because for one, I realize that I have no real excuse except to say, 'who really researches the VP?' I humbly admit I didn't know. It's not something I am proud of, but I don't argue just to be right. If I'm wrong I have no problem admitting it. Again, however, I sure as shit don't want to see Trump impeached even more now, so when someone says "give the guy a chance" it feels even more important to me now, that we do.

Thank you for saying that, but really, we can't just impeach him, so what's left? Believe me, our POTUS is an elected official, but we can't just 'un'elect him. All we can do now is give him a chance. If he fucks up bad enough (placing bets, I'd rather see Pence in the drivers seat...still don't like Hillary :-) ) then we can impeach him. Time will tell, but until then, pray sister, pray. I know the rest of the world is looking at us and wondering why we voted a clown into office. xx

There is every reason to hold him accountable for what he does. There is "no getting over it". This is normal democracy at work.

I love this thread. The Beatles are very near and dear to my heart (see profile, lol) so it's very difficult to pick a favorite because it depends completely on my mood. I love them all.
