Hello all. I have been lurking on this forum for a couple of weeks. I enjoy the banter you engage in. I had taken a break from writing due to work and other commitments. Although my pencil has been idle, my imagination has not. I am going to revive my school teacher series with a new direction and going to re-tune them. These were my very first stories written and need some help. Just reads a little too mechanical and with less character.

I have learned a lot reading other stories and I especially like what Kee does with dialog and how she uses it to color her characters. I am enjoying James Lewellyn and Daddy_d stories right now. looking forward to new episodes.

Anyway, I set a goal to figure out the forum stuff so I am done lurking and ready to meet new people. this is my official Hello.

Welcome Jay, normally we give a free small beer to new arrivals.
I'd much rather give you your first drink free.

Always good to see a new writer with us

Ha! Well, I am excited to read more! I read a lot on here and am bad with names too And I currently have trouble remembering what I had for breakfast, so please forgive my forgetfulness.

Umm Kimmi dear I didn't think you were back from communing with nature.

We missed you girl, glad to have you back.

Now about your bar bill....

Um, good morning! I am glad to see our lovely witch is still in one piece. And I am extremely glad you didn't (unknowingly) impale yourself with that empty Jameson bottle.

I am a bit surprised there was only one in there!. Whew! You smell like you had a VERY good time, dear. Heh heh heh.

Here, have some more coffee. Glad you're in.

Ding dong the witch is alive!

Oh I had a few rums and woke up with a couple of charming younger ladies.
I took the ole broomstick to make up some time and well you know the rest.

1 coffee coming right up.

Hiccup. Yes this Witch is alive...ish.

Good to be back.

A loud dull crashing sound echoes from the dumpster area. He sound of someone falling over kicking something that sounds like the dumpster jacuzzi.
A string of colourful expletives and the back door crashes open with a think.

Staggers in through the back door, hair standing on end, face covered in mud and clothes looking scruffy.

Ahem. I seem to be a little late today. Had a small ccrash landing with the broom, let that be a lesson to you folks never fly without your leather gloves, your proper polarised shades or under the influence of chocolate covered coffee beans.

Ye gods what is that smell? Oh it's me, right bette go jump in the dumpster jacuzzi to clean up.

Hold the phone for a moment.

Stomps off through the back door and a loud splash can be heard and more expletives.

A sudden figure stomps back in holding a bottle of Jamesons like a banner.

Which one of you lot left this in the jacuzzi? I nearly impaled myself on it when I jumped in. What if Tawney had been hurt taking her morning dip.

Oh you wild degenerates and your party games.

Since I'm mostly clean and I'm here I suppose it's time to tend bar.

Good heavens what a day.
Struts into the bar, blowing kisses as she gets to the bar.
Empties Big Bertha, keeping the sludge for Carl and the caffeine junkies. Refills with some Hawaiian roast beans, and lots of mountain fresh water.
Places a soft kiss on BB, and polishes her nozzle for being a good...coffee maker.
Cleans out the big kettle and refills it, setting it to boil.

Switches the sign from The Witch is OUT to IN.
Wiggles fingers and summons a dryad to get the washing up done, while a second whirls round the room driving all the rubbish into a pile, before feeding it to an earth elemental.

Good morning my drunken animals, I hope life is going well for you all.

Bill I didn't think my singing was so bad you'd mistake it for an industrial crusher. A strangled cat perhaps but I'm no musician,

Blows a kiss to BB and wipes down the bar one last time.
Switches the sign from The Witch is IN toOUT .
Slips out from behind the bar and blows a kiss to Bill

G'note folks time for this Witch to commune with the Moon, to ask for the gift of another dawn, to ask for us all to have a safe night, and many wonderful dreams.

If you hear what sounds like a cat being strangled rather ineptly from the back garden it's just me singing to Luna.

Ear plugs are on the bar.

Skald out!

Busy, difficult day, Michelle. Maybe you can sneak me some of Carl's private stash before he trucks on in? You know, the 18-year old Jameson's he has hidden behind the bar, next to where he hides the newspaper for Sara?

(giggles)

He thinks it's hidden. Let's not disabuse him!

Thanks!

Say nothing kimosabi.

Michelle , thank you so much for the donut

Emma , your Orchid is a beautiful shade of pink!

Karl, excellent selection of Rush. Good memories of cranking the stereo with that one.

Just popped in for a large sweet ice tea to go. The sun is shining in Texas again, I think I will take my laptop and work on the patio for a bit.

Happy Thursday all!

Ha ha so glad you enjoyed the doughnut.
1 tea to go
:

You know what they say about Texans. They have big hats and kick ass boots.
I do love a hat and I'm never out of my boots.

Keep being your beautiful self Gracie like the famous yellow rose of Texas.

Morning Rumpies! Looks like it is going to be a good day!

Violet, your story was excellent!

Michelle, can I please get some of that BB brew and a couple of sprinkled donuts to go please?

Have a great day folks!

DD

1 coffee and 2 doughnuts. Gotta feed Gracie too.

Haha!

Oh my mantis turned blush pink yesterday which was odd. She's still pink today. The other one also moulted safely.

No gender shaming Emma, a girl is allowed to wear pink if she wants to.
Course not entirely sure how much of a say a mantis has but still. Stand by your sister...insect???

Taking a break from writing, so a coffee please!

I've got some ideas for mean things to do with cable ties so writing is fun atm ? Kinda makes me want to buy a selection to try this scenario out.

1 coffee coming right up

You should work in IT Emma, nobody bats an eyelid when we bulk order cable ties, electrical tape or other goodies.
Oh the joys of tying someone up in a comms cabinet, and the rooms are lockable too so no nasty intruders.
Ah happy memories.
Always good to start the day shooting spammers like grouse.
Now where's the hip flask.
Not sure if you got much response to this but here's my suggestion.

Write up a story even if it's a little clunky it gives your writing partner an idea of how much editing you're going to need.
Also be sure to flag up what categories you want to write in.
Some people dont mind but some really dont like to work in some categories.

I also recommend that of you're looking for a writing partner pop into Rumps bar in the pub forum. Theres lots of writers in there and it's possible some of them might be willing to work with you especially once they get to know you better.
Writing your own work is tricky, converting someone else's vision into words is a lot harder and both parties really need to have great communication and rapport.

That's just me and YMMV.
Toodles.
Glad you liked it.
Welcome to Lush.
We have a writing group to help new writers find their feet if you think we can help you.
Also do visit Rumps bar in the Pub forum.
I frequently tend bar over there, it's full of writers and dedicated readers.
One of the best places to network, share your troubles and we all love to meet new writers and celebrate their work.
No, I highly recommend you not put tags into chapters that dont have them.
Think of it this way if you put a tag for in chapter 1 and there isn't a sign of it I'm going to read that chapter looking for the tag and get pissed at you for not including any.
You can put the element in the reader note at the top of the chapter when it applies. Then I can skip it if I dont want it.
Messages to the reader appear on the form under the story but appear above it when published.
Check my first comp entry for an example I put a lexicon at the start of mine.
Example of reader note
Warning may speak high level geek if approached. You have been warned.
Do not ask about fixing your iPhone, watching it be thrown out a window under a road compactor often causes offence.
Minion89 seems to be posting repeated messages with a link to something.
Looks like a bot flight.

Good morning my drunken animals, I hope life is going well for you all.

My spare laptop got cranky and needs to be wiped for a fresh win 10 install. So if you hear any unusual swear words it's just me.

G'note folks time for this Witch to commune with the Moon, to ask for the gift of another dawn, to ask for us all to have a safe night, and many wonderful dreams. To those who must work through it, may your shift be a gentle one and you return home safely.
To those who are worried, I will pray for your worries to be soothed. For those who mourn, I shall pray for a spirit of comfort to be sent to you.
To those of you who wrestle with a fickle muse (Not that I'm including my infuriating one in that proud company) I shall pray that a beautiful bolt of inspiration strikes you.

Remember we are all fragile beings and these are incredibly stressful times. Be kind to yourself and to others, sometimes a kind word is all we need to take another step and make it through a difficult day.

If you hear what sounds like a cat being strangled rather ineptly from the back garden it's just me singing to Luna.

Violet has produced her newest work, I'm listing it here.

Violets new story

It has earned an RR and it's well worth a read.
I don't know where she gets her inspirations from, it certainly scared the heck out of my pencil that quite deliberately rolled under the table to hide.
It certainly made me rethink a whole lot of what I was working on.
Be brave, bring a blanket and read it if you dare.

Now if anyone wants me I'm trying to get my pencil to come back so I can attempt to write.

Good morning my drunken animals, I hope life is going well for you all.

Bill When the plants start to flower I am going to be doped up the eyeballs on antihistamine. The joys of being allergic.

Kimmi My Eastern Sister always recommends when you're communing with nature to put your bare feet on the earth, close your eyes, turn your face to the sun, raise your arms to shoulder height and spread your fingers wide. That for a moment stop thinking about lists, plans and people. Be part of the natural rhythm. Feel the sun warm your skin, the wind stir your hair, the earth under your feet. That all things are as they should be, and you are part of that great natural cycle.

Elyse you make it sound as though being needy is a bad thing, some people train to get into that emotional state so they crave to be near their Dominant. Also don't doubt the amount of support you have here, we're all cheering you on, wanting to see you achieve all your goals my dear.

Just popping in to say hello and grab a lemonade. No vodka necessary today. I'm feeling pretty happy about how my latest story turned out and that it seems to be well-received thus far. I wasn't entirely sure when I started the story if I would be able to write a historical story with an erotic flair. Mostly because the historical topics I kept coming up with were darker periods of time. But I think I managed to combine sex and romance with a historical backdrop that actually works.

Three more days until I get to see my grandson. Not that I'm excited or anything...LOL!

Hope Tuesday is treating everyone well! (Or Wednesday, if you are on the other side of the world).

Wait...maybe I do need the vodka...my daughter just told me her cat was diagnosed with CAT ACNE! WTF is that? And how can you tell under all that fur? Sighs...

1 vodka lemonade

I haven't heard of cat acne, not sure who I pity more the kitty or the owner for being given that diagnosis along with a big medical bill.

I dated her a few times. Half a lager and some peanuts she was all over me. Not that good in bed to be honest. I dont answer her calls now.

*Lowers voice, adopts a false moustache and wears a flat cap*

There are 2 questions we all want to know.

1. What specific beer was it that had this effect?
2. Were the peanuts salted or dry roasted?

Not that I'm prepared to wear a wig and adopt an English accent in an attempt to bag me a famous redhead.
Though I might be prepared to do a whole lot more for the right redhead. Emma Stone had better start learning kick boxing now.

This isn't me desperately wishing Jane was my caregiver again. Nor is it me toying with the idea of writing about it, even if I don't publish it (or just post it elsewhere).

...except it totally is and I totally am.

Elyse my dear I think we'd all like to read how you feel.
This is a beautiful thing to see, you reaching for your pen to let us in on your world.
You are a wonderful writer and It's great to watch you find your voice, that special way you have of putting down your thoughts. Please write this one up, so we can all get just a tiny hint of Janefog.
Big squishy hugs

Ok I'm definitely blocked from mailing you, so the lock is on.
Some of the changes can take 24 hours to apply so maybe this person mailed you during this window.
Failing that you can try blocking them for a few days and then remove it.
some of the changes take a while to apply its possible this change hasn't been processed yet.
I'm not a friend of yours so I can try and send you a message to double check the lock is on.

Morning fellow Rumpies!

Kimmi, I am super jealous of your new friend! The woods is a wonderful place, is it not?

Michelle, you lovely witch! Can I talk you out of some of that BB brew? And a jelly-filled donut will do nicely, thank you!

Have a great day Lushies!

DD

I think I can rustle up a fine brew for you and 2 donuts, can't have Gracie going peckish now can we.
Since Carl is threatening to mention Witches in his next choice I thought I'd better cast a spell on you all first.

Now I own you all !!!!!
