i like to be too afraid to say anything to a lady for a long time until they move on to someone else or just lose interest entirely, and then die alone.

ladies.

Jack dear, that's no way to do it.
Feel your power, and call your Allure and then ask nicely.

Course I just flirt like hell and kiss them.
If they kiss back, we go from there, if they don't we stop.

Hello my name is John. Would you like to have very quick and naughty sex with me?

Just dont ask how successful I have been with that approach.

You just flash your site Admin badge. I'm a broad minded girl and if the site admin wants me to take a feeldoe to him, I'm not sure I'm in a position to refuse to snap to it.

The things I do for my community.

Avoid artwork. I have found that all stories featuring a cover photo will be stolen and be reposted elsewhere.

Emma darling, your generous spirit is always a delight to learn from.
Thank you for that little gem.

Morning all! A rumbustious Rumplations welcome to anyone new popping in!

BB has been de-sludged (saved for Carl), rinsed and refilled and there is a fresh pot of tea on the bar ready for our tea drinkers.

The brownies are plated and the mugs are even washed.

Tea, coffee, fine stickers, anyone?

It's always exciting to see new writing talent establish itself here, and where better than the bar to natter about it!

Goodness the Irish girls are stomping it today Curvy.
May I just say you look fabulous in Crinoline darling, and such a wonderful corset too, the twins are looking hypnotic today.
Good morning you lovable scoundrels, is there a term for female scoundrels. Hmm. I Don't know.
Anyway I'm getting off point. Time to work off my bar bill once again.

Slips behind the bar, empties Big Bertha, keeps the dregs and gets her ready for another busy day.
The kettle gets refilled and started boiling, and the bar gets a good wipe down.
Honestly at least there aren't boot prints on it this time.

Right I have Apple flapjacks, little Portugese custard tarts and because Carl needs something substantial after the game some lovely chicken and ham pies.

Puts a small sign on the bar -The Witch is- and slides the window across -IN-

Bring me your troubles, your naughty girls needing a spanking and your drinks orders folks.

Now Terance you've been a good spider so I brought you a plate with crickets, locusts and a stunned mouse or two.
Yes you're a very polite spider and if you keep being good the treats keep coming.

I hear Carl might be a little tender this morning so I'm keeping a few extra large hugs for him today.

Yes Kimmi no snickering from the back there. You may have beaten your sister but Carl is my poetry coach and if he's too shook up to kick my ass into gear I won't get my comp entry done. So be nice.
Hi Erin, welcome to Lush.
Writing is a solitary thing and it can feel lonely at times.
I highly recommend you pop over to the Pub Forum and visit Rump Bar.
It's full of writers who really love to help us new arrivals to find out feet, give us a place to let off steam and make some wonderful friends.
Do pop along and visit us, I'd love to introduce you to the folks down there.
Your first drink is on me.

The site runs a bunch of different scheduled scripts. These do all the daily maintenance aspects of running the site. I assume the slowdowns or times when the site becomes unresponsive are the short periods when the scripts run. Gav could confirm.

If that is the case, these is no ‘good’ time to run them as people visit Lush from all over the world and from every time zone. Waiting 5-10 minutes and refreshing the page usually works.

Liz, that's wonderful to know.
Some sites run them once a day so people can learn the times, if the scripts could run more then once just knowing it might be a perfectly normal thing to happen. To go make a cup of tea and try again, really does take the frustration out of it.
I was worrying it was something on my end, or my ISP being silly.

So big thumbs up from me, and a big hug to Gav for the minor miracles involved in keeping the site running.
Yes my dears, the rumours on the street are completely true.
Chapter 2 is out and ready to steam up your day.

Artemis Club Chapter 2

Do please leave a comment, I'd really like to know if you're enjoying where I'm going with this one.

Happy birthday Sylvie.
Have a wonderful day, have far too much fun and never stop being your wonderful self.

so, writing stuff...

lifewise. December and Jan were hard. that's about all i'm going to say, but i hit a sort of rock bottom and am slowly working my way up again. just how life goes, so i have been a bit scarce, to say the least. feeling better about things, now, so fingers crossed. also, some huge decisions looming, but ones that can wait until after the pandemic is vaccinated out of existence. life changes that are positive. also, i need to travel in the worst way, so that's in my future, hopefully.

lush wise. we have a contest. poetry. i kind of hate poetry, but i like that our poets get a chance to strut their stuff and am looking forward to some excellent entries by all of you.

we have some wonderful "newbies" here. Kimmi. James. Michelle. Emma. Also, a favorite of mine, Violent Vixen is someone to keep an eye on. Haven't had the chance to check out everyone yet, but i'm working on it.

Um first off I'm a big big fan of cuddle therapy, lots of big squishy hugs always make me feel better. Remember to be kind to yourself, forgive yourself for not being perfect and do something every single day that reminds you that life is beautiful.

Life always moves in cycles, some days we can pull the stars from the heavens like baubles, and some days we can barely find the strength to get out of bed. That's life, and once we accept that sometimes things just change, not because we did something wrong, or because we failed. Just because they always change. It takes some of the sting out of being knocked on your ass when a blink of time ago you were stomping mountains under your boots.

It's good that you have some big decisions to make in life, we all need to make them from time to time, and while they're not always easy they do make us grow. Besides if we don't make big decisions, we just tread the same ground into a lovely comforting rut. Course that means when life forces us to change, we've become so bound to that damned rut we can forget we can make another one somewhere else.

Now newbies, Kimmi, James and Emma should be on your radar. They've been here a while and they're doing amazing work.
The sheer breadth and depth of what they produce is jawdropping and always makes me want to fan girl them. Squee!!
They show me that even being as well known as they are, they're still regular people. Ready to be silly out here with the rest of us, to encourage us to keep wrestling with that pencil and that ever fickle muse. That they're prepared to admit they have bad days too, days they can't face their pencil, or need to take a break from their Art to clear their head.
As a rookie it's amazing to see my betters being so wonderfully human, complicated, and completely inspiring.

Violet, is fast becoming the Queen of tentacle filth though I think Vanessa might fight her over it.
Very decent of you to give her a shout out and encourage her to keep making magic, by she's a favourite of yours.
I can't say I've read all of her work, because some of it scares me (Yes Violet you damn well scare me).

As for me, I'm still working out just how sharp I need my pencil to get the best work out of her. I'm hardly someone that should be on your radar yet.
I'm aiming to compete in every competition this year, finish my first series, and write something to properly impress the shit out of James.
Stretch goal for the year is get an RR, and that's a damn tricky thing to win. So a very fitting challenge to set for the muse, I can hear her ransacking my Anais Nin looking for something to get her juices going.

This isn't me desperately wanting to kiss Jane instead of sleeping, I swear.

Pulls you into my arms for a great big squishy hug.

I think you should write that poem darling, show us just how big that heart of yours us.
I love you people, thank you for sparing me lots of wasted time.

Darkmuse, your story "One Night with Ben" in Love Stories is incredible! Nice to meet you and your next drinks on me (Rumps, that means James's tab, now that PNGd left)

Dark muse,
Bloody hell you're good.
Keep that up and you're going to be unstoppable.
Happens for me too but I figured it was my dodgy web link.

I have half a dozen languishing in various states of undress. Trying to convince myself it's worth the effort to fill in the missing bits.

Need more coffee

Pixel! Quit teasing Terence!

I put my unfinished ones in a scrapbook and lot it when I need little fragments to stitch a tale together.

If Pixel has a go at Terence I think I'd have to back Pixel.

The oval ball is back on, time to roar like a beast for Ireland against Wales.

I needed that tbh. I don't know how you always manage to sense when I'm at my most snuggle-deprived, but I'm glad somebody does.

Also, I want to write about her (I mean, I might as well since I can't sleep) but the Janefog is so thick and heavy that all I've got is "felbarp von ploxnargle," otherwise known as speechlessness.

A Witch knows these things my dear, besides when I crave a big squishy hug you always give the best ones.
Skips joyfully in, gets behind the bar and starts tinkering. Big Bertha is carefully emptied, the sludge kept for Carl. Fresh spring water poured in a new bag of fresh coffee beans poured into the hopper to make superb coffee. The big kettle gets a good scrub and a refill, before being put on the boil. All the glasses, mugs and plates are carelessly thrown in the sink when it's all full a ripple in the air as the fumes, smoke and dust form into a figure that scrubs every single item spotlessly clean, putting it neatly away.

Puts a tray of properly authentic Turkish sugar preserved fruit on the counter.
The pink ones have rose water, the orange ones orange blossom, the green ones have pistachio and the blue ones are just fruit flavoured.
Places a tray of buttermilk scones, plain and with dried fruit.

Because of the day that's in it I very nicely asked a friend to make me a huge batch of Kansas BBQ coming in later today.

In honour of the superb Carl I'm going to support Kansa today. Go Chiefs!!

Right folks, I'm giving Miss Curvy a morning off what can I get you drunken animals to drink?

Terence don't twitch your hairy legs at me like that, I changed the heating element last night so it didn't burn your little hairs.
Yes I know it feels different, it also doesn't make the place smell like burnt fur.
I brought you a treat, I brought a plate of crickets for you to munch. See I'm not all bad you know, yes you can eat them.
No please don't try and give me a hug. We're not that kind of friends. I'm being very brave Terence and not running away sobbing or reaching for my compressed air canister and zippo. Just saying.

Thanks for the clarification -- Kimmi is first in all things Micro then.

I just put a note on the community Help Wanted board outside for a set of arms and lips looking for work. Double base pay and full medical. I'll let you know as soon as I get a call.

Ahem..you wanted Help with something??

I am relatively new to Lush, and this is my first forum interaction. Please forgive any violations of etiquette. But I wanted to say how much I appreciate this post, JamesLlewellyn. Myself, I often struggle with good opening hooks, and you have shared some excellent and hopefully inspiring examples.

Welcome to our little community.
There's no need to worry about etiquette, be your warm friendly self.

We love to meet new arrivals and to help all new writers find their way through the process to be the writer they wish to be.

I'm Michelle and your first beer is on me.

Quote by delacruzinforjosh
...so I'm still going by Xander, but now I also go by Elyse. Either of them are fine - and yes, my pronouns are still they/them.

Carry on.

Lovely to meet you Elyse. Keep giving me your squishy hugs, they do make the days easier.
I may be a very Silly Goose but I cant find how to send an invite to join a group.
I could set the group to being open but I'd prefer to know who is popping in.
I haven't seen anything on how to do that but I might just be looking in the wrong place.
Anyone able to nudge me where to go for this?
I'm in a daring mood, kiss your ass.
Just to see how you respond.
Gets the beers in, thirsty work playing all this pool.
