Annoyed .... people need to practice reading and comprehension.

It's similar to people that hear but do not listen.

Is there hope?? Unlikely.

Well, that's how it is now.

Yes, I know that; that is wherein lies the current problem.

Hence why I suggested the example in my first post.

Thanks for reading!

As long as the user is the one receiving the email containing a temporary password or link to a 'set new password' form, then those kind of questions should not be necessary. Questions like that are not very secure anyway. The problem with them is often that the answers are not constant (favorite movies and family pets may change over time) or not all that private (how many people know your pet's name or your mother's maiden name?). They should be as secure/private as passwords or they will become the weakest link, making the whole process less secure. And that includes their handling: using a one-way-only encryption for their storage.

Holes can be blown into any policy/protocol.

Regarding the bold above - no, you don't get an email sent to you. That's silly. When you attempt to log in and you don't get in, the verification questions are asked. Make the questions not the simply ones I stated. Make them something different. My example was just that; an example.

If you get those questions correct, you are directed to change your password.

People have been on the internet long enough now to know that short and 1234567 are not effective passwords, don't they? [insert trump joke here]

My point was more about security about password/member profile but people are fallible. They make mistakes, they forget things, they don't log on for long periods.

Perhaps people make too much of the security issue. What the hell do people store on here that is so valuable??

Quote by BiMale73
The registration form (you'll be redirected to your settings page if you're logged in) suggests otherwise, as it requires you to submit a password.

This is true. So Hmmm45 will need to revisit his password.

If passwords are not "saved" .... perhaps what should be needed is a verification question.

example upon signing up to Lush:

Name: WickedWitchoftheWest
Password: RubyShoes
Verification Question #1: Favourite Move - Wizard of Oz
Verification Question #2: Family Pet Name - Diva

You forget your password (it happens) .... have it ask you one or both verification questions so that you prove you are you and then, RESETS the password wherein you MUST change your password to a new one.

I think Gav could implement something like this if security passwords etc is a huge concern.

You don't have any stories favorited...where did all the fifty go?

Where are all your stories with all the RRs that you received. Kind of a slap in the face. You got them and deleted them. Most people cherish their stories that get RRs. You deleted all of them.

If I got RRs I certainly wouldn't delete them.

Again...this was just a request. you don't have to agree with it.

My profile says what happened with my writings .... deleting my writings is not a slap in anyone's face. They are mine, not Lush's.

Your comment above is to distract from your initial comment about not showing your favourite stories. I think that it's rather sad to favour a story yet, I guess from your opinion, not to have the author tickled pink that someone favoured it. I guess too, that it would not show on the author's profile that you'd favour that story.

The entire thought about this is strange and I can't understand that thinking.

What a lot of work for Gav to do to appease a small handful.

Quote by Mysteria27

Your stories and poems should stand all by themselves.

My favorites are not selling to anybody to read. I'm pretty sure people are not getting reads of of what somebody has on their favorite lists.

Again...if you want to display yours so be it.

This is just my opinion.

Xo

What does this mean? "Your stories and poems should stand all by themselves." I don't get it. Don't you get a kick out of someone favouring your story/poem? Don't you get a rush when someone follows you? Don't you beam when someone has taken the time out to write a comment to those Works of Art??

Fuck ... I sure did!

Since you don't want to "share" your favourites, maybe don't favour them and keep a hand-written list next to your computer to remind you of what you liked and so you can go find them (somehow) to re-read them when you want.

I really and truly believed that Lush was always a place to promote the writings and musings of the novice and experienced writers. I loved perving profiles and finding a new story that was favourited and finding a new favourite for myself.

I just do not think that being so closed is good for Lush and the writers/readers here.

Your opinion, of course, is valid for whatever is your reasons. I just hope that Lush doesn't take this approach. Soon, all you will see on a profile will be an AV or not.

In light of the recent passing of Keith Emerson .....

Why is it anybody's business as to what peoples favorite things are.
xo

I do not understand this line of thinking at all.

So, let's clarify .... you want the "Favourite Stories" not to be shown on your profile? Why not?? Your "It's no one's business" is contrary to one of the original reasons for your profile to hold a "favourite stories" ... as it was a vehicle in which to show those stories that you thought/think so highly as a visitor to YOUR profile might think, "it's a favourite of hers .... maybe I'll enjoy it too" .... and so the cycle starts.

I used to have about 50plus stories/poems favourited. I always thought it was a great way to share those great writers Works of Art. Better than other plugs. (no buttplug jokes!) Also, showing the "Following Authors" highlighting who one thought was good enough to follow!

This idea of shutting off the reason why so many of us have/are here (writing/reading) just astounds me.

Wow.

There's four less after I deleted all my stories ....

actually, if anyone is coming off as a bitch here, it's not Liz. Damn. you ever wonder why the mods are occasionally moody? ever wonder what it feels like to try to do your mod thing and get the nasty thrown in your face? ever wonder how it colors your experience when it happens on a constant basis? i really wouldn't worry about someone coming along and trying to sort things out for you anymore, Van. not with that attitude.

Yo, Rachel, you should have read Liz's reply to me, her words was "bitch filter ".

Don't worry. I won't be asking any of you for anything. The way things are here, no one dares to have an opinion or ask a question~ ultimate censorship here, unless you are a mod. Then you can say whatever you want.

Good luck kids.

Darling .... don't worry, everyone already knows that you are a bitch.

Its sad on a writing/reading site, you can't read (or perhaps the problem is that you only read what you want and assume the rest is in your bitch-wheelhouse).

Maybe that's part of the bitch DNA ..... unable to read and accept apologies.

If the internet is full of slags, and you view me as one of them - I'm surprised that you felt hurt. Does a bitch feel hurt when someone questions a new thing?

Seriously, maybe you need to re-think your bitchy. That and some tolerance for others. As a mod, I would have thought that would be the first trait Lush Management would have hoped to have had in their Mods that interact on the face of the site.

Have a good day ...

Absolutely ..... it certainly didn't appear to be a joke to me, but alas .... it's a joke between two buddies.

Got it.

My apologies to you and your team for hurting someone's feelings.

Good luck.

Would you mind clarifying the statement in bold?

Apart from a joke shared between Jack and BiMale73, I don't see how any of the current groups constitute as bashing.

As Liz said, they're not more than interest groups that are more nuanced than our forum setup.

The groups will still be monitored by admin, so it won't be a platform to bash other members. Any such behavior will be put to an end as quickly as possible.

I understand your concern about cliques, but it's really not our place to control for that. They already exist, with or without this feature.

Gav,
I'm not really sure what this whole 'group' feature is about, so I probably won't be using it, but I can appreciate that you spent a lot of time and effort getting it up and running. What purpose was it actually designed for?
Thanks,
Van

Well, Van, I guess you could say the new group feature is kind of like Reddit, and the individual groups are the equivalent of sub-reddits. It was designed to allow users to join specific interest groups and share information about those topics. If a group does not exist for something you wish you engage about, then you can create one. It acts like a huge social filling system, searchable and relevant, whilst at the same time allowing for better notification options which the forum does not have.

If I'm understand your post correctly, your main issue with this new feature is that people will not be all sweetness and light in there?

I would have pm you, but what the hell , this place is a free for all anyways.

What is wrong with you, to be so smug as to "correct" my query?

I have always appreciated Gav's beautiful amazing work. So far, this group looks like just more bashing. If you think I'm standing up for just Jack, you are sorely misled. I have become so disgusted and revolted with the slags and such. Simple questions or opinions become silly landmines.

Next time, do not think you can reiterate what you think I meant. I meant exactly what I wrote, Liz. You have not won any points.

You guys have always been there for me, my quality assurance team. I would appreciate if you could have a play with my new Groups feature and let me know what you think.

There's still some work to do, but its almost production ready.

Please let me know any bugs you find, anything that's hard to follow or understand and any new features you would like to add.

What is the point of these "Groups" ?

It appears to be yet another vehicle for people to act poorly and (per bimales thread referencing Jack) to be assessed.

Isn't there enough ass-comments made in the forums?

I'm finding Lush more and more disturbing. People responding without reading original posts, slagging others with false bravo when they are ill equipped to respond appropriately.

Wow.

Please let us know exactly the agenda if these clique-ish Groups.

Thanks,

Van
Think back to when Charlie Sheen was fired from Two and a Half Men .... May 2011.

Think back to when Charlie Sheen was going crazy with that TigerBlood bullshit (March 2011) and melting down.

Think back to that fucking crazy smoking out his nose, ears and whatever else .... September 2011.

All of that happened around the time his was diagnosed with HIV .... as he said he was diagnosed 4 years ago.

From my perspective, this was a guy not going crazy - but desperate because of his diagnosis.

How sad. A man become HIV positive but can't tell anyone because he's famous and is supposed to be such a stud. Life is over as he knows it. Then, he pays out hush money hand over fist for 4 years.

Sad.

Perhaps now, he can figure out with help how to live .... and live well.

I attempt not to have a purse, for when I do use a purse, I can't find anything.

Therefore, I have a very lovely. cognac-coloured suede zippered wallet that holds my money, debit card (and other paying cards), my work pass, ID and my transit pass. The zipper is large enough to slide my cell phone into without turning it off.

I put my lip care and keys in my jacket/coat pocket.

My best friend is a guy, and his guy-purse is always full! hahaha
