Tired. Three day weekend is only 31 hours away. Bill, please give me enough köffee to make it to the finish line.
I knew him in passing, but Layla knew him much better. He was funny and sarcastic and clearly well loved. The death of one man diminishes us all. He will be missed. Rest peacefully.
Just saw the first two episodes of The End of the F*****g World on Netflix. Awesome show.
This is SO COOL!
It was such a strong competition. I think the new categories pushed everyone to really write outside their comfort zone (I know it did with me).
That was the fun in reading all the entries - they all had the common theme of "change," but that change idea was filtered through all the different categories, from money and uniforms to pee and monster sex. So even though the theme was the same, the results were wildly different. It was really entertaining to read, and it pushed everyone to do their best work.
Anyway. Congrats to everyone! I am honored to be included in such a strong field of contenders. Lit af, fäm.
I keep coming here to see if the winners have been announced, but I find I spend at least 30 seconds mesmerized by the ass of the woman who is in the prompt for the comp. I wish I could write a story as perfect as that.
This is related, I think, to a bug that is seriously bugging me. The Friends' Activity page, filtered to Forum entries, was my main way of looking around the site. See what my friends has posted in the Forums, read, maybe respond. I go to the actual Forum page now, but it requires a lot of sifting through links. I miss a working Friends' Activity feed. Hadn't quite realized how dependent I wad on it to navigate Lush until it went away.
I know these issues aren't easy to solve. Thanks Gav for all you do.
I am back home.
I miss Layla.
Several fingers of burrbin (he intoned mirthlessly).
I see the contest results are out tomorrow. That's cool!
Yes, it does. With someone your own age, you have shared cultural touchstones and references.
Quit eating Goldfish crackers in it, is the only thing I've been told.
In a woman: kindness, humor, intelligence, playfulness, beauty.
And may I add my True Love has these qualities in spades (I am about to see her again and so am feeling a bit misty).
Sweet post.
I say no to an engagement ring. Too much pressure on top of a lot of pre-existing pressure, and the emotion of the proposal will swamp everything else. Jen's idea of a simple ring would be nice. But wait on the proposal.
I say make her something by hand. For this Valentine's (Layla, if you are reading this, STOP RIGHT NOW - SPOILER ALERT!), I bought a little wooden box, stained it, added a photo of us on the front, and put a hand-molded clay heart embedded with a few glass beads inside. You don't have to be a great crafter or artist, the gesture of making something with your own hands for her will outweigh any flaws in the final result.
Good luck!
