Still in bed at 11 a.m., with Layla and two of the cats. Christmas break decadence!

Jeff Jr--our third cat--is still at the pet ER. sad. He is eating on his own now, and electrolytes and kidney values are better. The test will be this evening when they remove his catheter (sorry if that's TMI). We are all going to visit him today.

Hope everyone is almost done with Christmas chores, and can relax into these last few days. Tonya, I wish we could help with the wrapping (and the writing!).

Köffêè plêâsē.
Ping, you magnificent bastard, have an excellent birthday!

My boyfriend knew at the outset that I was bisexual, and had no intention of giving up sex with other women for him. After a couple years of sharing me with my girlfriends, he realized that I was committed to spending my life with him, and any fears of losing me to other sexual partners were unfounded. He began fantasizing about sharing me with other guys too, and I was open to the idea, so we tried it, and found that that worked too. Then I started feeling guilty because I was the one having all the fun, so I suggested we try swinging as a couple, and partner-swapping with other couples. That lasted for almost 3 years, until I found a girl I fell in love with. That began our polyamorous period, (FFM) and I shared her with him for several years, and we gave up swinging with other couples. After a few years, my girlfriend went away to grad school, and it became difficult to maintain a long-distance relationship. I started fucking other guys again because my boyfriend really got off on how much other guys wanted his girlfriend, and he enjoyed having the power of deciding who got to have me (of course, I got a say in the matter too, but we usually agreed). By this time, I was in my early 30s, and my relationship with my girlfriend had fallen apart, so we decided to move one of my boytoys in with us while he was going to college, and he became my defacto 2nd boyfriend, and we were once again in a polyamorous relationship, (MFM) where we stand today, only we've brought one other couple, and a couple more younger guys into our group of FWBs, and there are 5 guys and 2 girls in our circle currently. But I live with my two boyfriends, and the others just come over for sex whenever it's convenient. This has been the situation for the past 5 years, and looks to be a pretty stable arrangement. (There'll be a quiz later! LOL)

Wow, that is detailed, and fascinating. Clear, level-headed, and hot. And no one gets hurt, because of the way you approach it.

Did I mention hot?
What a nice sentiment, Nic. Thank you. Our famiy still copes with loss this time of year, which makes things difficult some days, but we've learned to stay open to the light and love that surrounds us. Which is, after all, what the season is all about.

Peace to all of you out there in Lush Land.

A marathon of Emerson Lake & Palmer records:

Nice. Some of their music aged horribly, some of it still sounds modern. Like the song you posted.

I'm boring and am listening to the news on the radio.
Thank you, Tonya and Curves, for getting the sludge flowing in Big B this morning.

I am diggin the fact that Terrence like Sara's mini-marshmallows.

Jeff Jr's blood work came back, and we are taking him to the vet to get a drip for the day. He is better, but is still feeling pretty puny. Gave him 4 does of medicine, into his mouth, this morning, with LJ setting the doses and me squirting the meds into his mouth. Poor little guy.

A cuppa, please.
We took Jeff Jr to the ER tonight - it was just too worrying to wait til morning. He is resting comfortably and doing better. Layla and I are giving him lots of kitty love.

A nightcap, please. Any Maker's Mark left? Layla will have a Death's Door gin (a real gin! With a cool story!), on the rocks.

Fling some drinks in Laura and Ping's direction. From me and Layla and JJ. Feel free to dance topless anyway, Laura. You too Ping.
The Possession of Hannah Rose. Perfectly competent horror movie, not particularly memorable. Really cool sound design - they use sound well, and not just for shocks.
Glad you are fine, Jen, and Sara, sorry you are not.

Hey, Alan.

Bill, SO sorry you had to put down a beloved pet yesterday. My condolences. That had to be hard. At least you know she is no longer in pain or discomfort.

Kitty (his name is Jeff Jr, my daughter named him after me) is back home. No clear prognosis. He is quarantined from the other cats so we can track how much he is eating/drinking/peeing. Layla and I will nurse him tonight, but there is a chance he goes to the pet ER tomorrow morning. We will have blood test results tomorrow morning too, so hopefully we will know more then.

Burrbin. It has been a long day.

Could I get a Bloody Mary double? Please? With a pickled green bean, please. Woke up this morning with the R knee grossly swollen and not bearing weight especially well. Obviously called into work. Looks like surgery will happening sooner rather than later.

Ouch! Are you going to end up spending Christmas in a hospital room?

We have a kitty who is limping around and favoring one of his legs. Last night he sat at the bottom of the stairs and cried, so I lifted him and took him to my room, where there is food and water and he won't have to walk far. We'll take him to the vet at noon today.

Thanks for the Christmas decorations Tonya.

Köffèë as always.

I AM in a mood.

A good mood, I hope, but I don't think that what you mean. smile Are you in cooking/baking mode yet?

I am sad because one of our kittens is hurt. Taking him to the vet at noon.
A soccer Mom Kia Sedona mini-van. I gotta be honest, I love this car.
Hi Tonya! Thanks for the update. We miss you.

If you have Netflix, I highly recommend Springsteen on Broadway. Yeah, I am biased, I am a huge Springsteen fan, but it is entertaining and frequently moving. It's more talking than music, though there is plenty of both. I really like how he acknowledges that being a rock star is a magic trick, and a lot of it involves reinventing yourself and grooming an image to present to the public. He lets down a little of the mask during the show.

Watched it while wrapping presents with Layla. It was a fun evening.

Köffêē please.
A friend of mine became a father last night
When he spoke, in his voice I could hear the light
Of the skies and the rivers, the timber wolf in the pine
And that great jukebox out on route 39

- Bruce Springsteen
Geez, Gil, does anyone else pull the weight for all these holiday gatherings, or do they just leave it to you?

Got woken up by an Amber alert on my phone at fuck o'clock in the morning. If that weren't bad enough, my Dad's went off too, and he couldn't figure how to turn his off, and by the time I had his deactivated I was awake enough so I couldn't get back to sleep.

I hope Tonya is okay. I miss her around here too.

Christmas shopping, Christmas decorations, and Christmas logistics are all taken care of. We can coast into Christmas Eve fairly easily now. Supper will be our traditional feast - Mexican food- because I can make it all ahead of time, and just heat it all up on the big day. I am exhausted by midday on Christmas.

Thanks for the hot sludge, Bill and Curves.
She is proud and unapologetic about her sexuality and everything else in her life.

I know it’s wrong. I tried to restrain myself, but the mischievous joker inside prevents my self-control.

If you give the cats the hamster, doesn’t that complete your Christmas shopping?

I know. I’m sorry. The devil made me do it. I’ll drink alone in the corner

Not a very good Christmas for the hamster. Named Skittles, incidently.

Hamster doesn't have a "p" in it? Who knew?
Can I just say that hiring a line-editor was one of the smarter moves I've made in this whole process. In addition to correcting the typos I so commonly make, she is polishing sentences in simple ways (removing passive verbs, taking out the word began or begin) but it makes the whole story shiny and new to me, and I've been staring at some of these stories for years now.

She also said the Shards are "Henry Miller level brilliant." Yes, she is a good friend and therefore biased, but it is still a compliment that went straight to my head. smile
I am enjoying a lazy morning with Layla and all the cats. This time of year work slows to a crawl. Expect to see me wasting all sorts of time on the Forums.
Good morning all.

Grace's story is, indeed, a great read.

Christmas shopping is, I think, officially done (except for treats for the cats and the hampster) (and stocking stuffers, which is mostly candy I have to buy at the last minute or I will eat all of them). Layla and I will do a wrap-a-thon this weekend to get everything under the tree. The cats will be amused.

Should be a chill weekend, with Christmas chores done for the most part.

Shh! Don't tell Layla, but I am getting her a ____ and a ____.

Köffee please.

Finally dug into The Expanse. Easily the best SciFi show anywhere right now. About as hyper-realistic as you can get with space warfare. Takes a huge dump on StarWars. Acting gets better. Writing gets better. Good Shit.

LOVE THIS SHOW! It is realistic, and asteroid belt mining and the society that is built around it is such a cool backdrop.

Speaking of which, did you see the new trailer for Godzilla, King of the Monsters? Their Ghidorah is magnificent! And their Rodan and Mothra aren't looking so bad either, though we still haven't really had a good look at the former. I am getting so pumped for this movie that it had better be as good as that trailer looks.

Another Crown Royal, please.

I just watched it again! Yeah Ghidorah really looks cool in this - and the climax looks like a throw-down between Godzilla and our old three headed friend. I can't wait. Cool to see your story doing so well, but yeah, I know the feeling about not getting the thrill you expected to get. That's what gets me to move onto the next story.

Grace, I've done a few flashes here that were pretty much pure porn. Well-written porn, I'd like to think, but pure sex, very graphic. They aren't here anymore, but they were well received. Really graphic flash are out in the real world too, if you look at the Amazon listings, and do well. Most writers bundle them up into collections - don't know if they sell well if sold as individual titles, but I guess I am about to find out. If you've got a draft, I'd love to take a look.

Good to see you BC. Hang out for a beer with us sometime!

Bill, the grandkid thing is very cool. Glad she is such exhausting fun.

As for heavy hitters, is the only criteria we are using contest wins? Fuzzyblue absolutely rocks, but not in terms of contest wins. Mad Mart too. My sense--we discussed this at the bar some time ago--that the old guard of heavy hitters don't write much anymore except for sprite, and even she doesn't write at the pace she used to. The new heavy hitters are still finding their legs. WE are the new guard! That said, Hannah is probably the heaviest of hitters right now, and that new Buddha guy has some game too.

Thanks for setting us up, Unquenchable! Köffee please.

My latest story, The French Guest, tells the story of a lonely widower who rediscovers love, lust, and joy with a beautiful French student who lives with his daughter.

Lush comp-winning author Verbal writes of it, "You take the time to tell it, letting us get to know the characters, letting them get to know each other, and we trust that the writer is gonna keep things believable, emotionally and sexually."

It's a really good story. I can't believe you had to pull it out of the trash before we could read it! Have faith in your skills!

I think Scott with get his story done. So will Larry.

With regard to the votes and views, I think both will increase once more people enter. I've intentionally not read any because I still have not completed my competition entry. I think a lot of people are doing the same. Once they post their story, they'll then start reading and voting where applicable. Hannah and Sprite have been very quiet. Hmmm.

A very different dynamic with this competition. Long period (two months or so) from announcement to closing date. Plus, up to 10,000 words. Less urgency to write, and for some, it may even intimidate them to do so, because they think they need to write to 10G. I could be wrong, or just way off...

I guess we'll see.

It's disappointing to see the low turnout, but a) this is a really busy time of year, and 2) there might be some sort of comp fatigue going on: there was the last comp, that comp at the bar, the comp on the rhymes-with-chew site, and this one.

I'm not entering. Or reading entries. I might when Christmas calms down.

Scott, submit the damn story. Let your readers be the judge.

My new story is down for awhile. I corrrected some goofy sentences.

More köffee please.

Hi friends. So tonight after work (and boy was it a rush) I attended a vigil/march for a young tourist who was killed in New Zealand whilst on her O.E. Maybe people outside NZ have heard of this young woman and the brutal way she met her end by someone from my own country? Generally speaking, we kiwis are not a kill-y lot, nor are we gun types or stabbists, but when it comes to domestic violence, our stats are shocking. New Zealand has one of the highest domestic abuse/violence rates in the world. We have a problem, on our beautiful shores, and while the number has slowly been decreasing over some years, it is still terribly high. So tonight's vigil was an amalgamation of support for the young tourist and her family, and the white ribbon appeal against domestic abuse/violence. Despite the summer stormy weather, it was a great turnout. The Pastor from my local Church came, gave a quick speech and prayer, flowers and white ribbons were offered up, local Iwi and Tangata Whenua (the local native tribes) came, and two kaumatua wahine (female elders) gave a Mihi (speech) and prayers in Maori. Then the group broke out in song, singing Amazing Grace (the young tourist, her name was Grace).

So tonight, drinks are on me, friends and thanks for allowing me to be so serious for a moment. Now, what is everyone having?

That's such a nice out-pouring of support, though such sad circumstances. It's cool the local tribes and female elders participated, followed by Amazing Grace (even though I am not religious, it is one of my favorite songs, and often chokes me up). Are the tribes matriarchal? I ask because of the female elder mention.

Ping's new flash is funny and sweet, and recommended.

I'd never heard of pouring the cream oover a spoon til Danielle mentioned it. Bill's comment on making sure the spoon was clean made me laugh. And, of course, our dear Curvy did just that - cleaned the spooon and poured the coffee.

I'll have a cup too.
