Jeff, he wrote: Wow, I didn't even know I got an RR til reading this, Larry. Over on the site whose letters, when rearranged, spell lube. I thought I had already alienated the mods over there too much for an RR. Thanks for the info, and the props.

Me, I wrote: Congrats, Jeff. At least one other mod over there must think you did a good job with that story and then they took the time to give it an, RR. ;)

Larry, thanks for those links to the two fine stories on the 'Sacre Lube' site. Here's your coffee. Enjoy, you earned it and a free refill.

Anybody else need some liquid refreshment?

Sarce lube made me laugh. Yeah, you are right, lotsa mods there, and there are only one or two I think I've alienated. Maybe none, my only snarky comments about the red/blue thing were over here, and on this thread.

I have the first draft of the book cover(s) for the Shards over on the Shardoverse thread. Thoughts and suggestions are welcome - I am such a newbie when it comes to all this. All the books will have the same cover, only the title changes. https://forum.lushstories.com/yaf_postsm3162592_The-Shardoverse.aspx#3162592
Got the first draft of the cover back. Notice how the designer circumvented the non-consent/bondage issue I discussed in the last post.

I like it, a lot, actually, with some reservations. I think the "Serious Moonlight #1" should NOT be bigger than the title. My guess is the designer sees "Serious Moonlight" as the brand and wants to emphasize thst over the actual title.

I also think the red (which matches her lips) doesn't stand out from the black of her hair quite enough.

Thoughts from anyone? I need to get back to the artist in a couuple of days with notes.

Shooting for a Feb 2019 launch.

Yay! Good for you.

I am in good spirits for no particular reason, but hey, any port in a storm.

I was just over on 'sacre bleu' for my early morning visit. I happened to notice that Jeff's latest horror story now has a Recommended Read. That's nice. If anyone wants to read an RR on that site here it is.

https://www.storiesspace.com/stories/horror/dont-look.aspx

I also see little Sara just posted one of her charming childern's stories. Top of the page there. This is it.

https://www.storiesspace.com/stories/flash-fiction/scamps-adventure-2-a-day-on-the-farm.aspx

I'll take a cuppa java, please, Bill.

Cheers, all.

Wow, I didn't even know I got an RR til reading this, Larry. Over on the site whose letters, when rearranged, spell lube. I thought I had already alienated the mods over there too much for an RR. Thanks for the info, and the props.

Look forward to Sara's story there.

Saw episode 5 of Hill House! Great Googlymoogly that was scary! I was so disturbed I had to watch an old episode of Friends to clear my head (Jennifer Aniston's nearly always erect nipples on that show improves my spirits).

Saw two good scary movies while handing out candy last night: Malevolent and Emelie. Sorry Ping, I DIDN'T watch Veronica.

Köffee please. Another long day.
Quote by Ping

I'll give HoHH another go. I just can't get through the first episode, but I've been told it gets better with episode 2. Started rewatching Stranger Things with my son, but he bailed after the second episode. Too intense for him. A good father would understand. A bad father would threaten to take away all electronics unless he finishes the series.

I really wish someone would finally watch Veronica. Sheesh. One friend in the deep, deep south watched with me on Sunday. She agrees. More than just your average horror flick.

If it makes you feel better Ping, Layla watched Veronica and really liked it.

And again, if it makes you feel better, I showed my kids all my favorite X Files, but never got them hooked into the series as a whole. They wanted to watch Merlin and Heartland (Canadian I think!) and some Mermaid show I HATED at that time in their life.
This is a great idea! Thanks Gav, Hannah, sprite, Nic and crew. Wish it had been around for the Shards.

I miss having the Shards around. sad
Morning all. Thanks for getting Bertha up and gurgling, Tonya. I'll have a köffee.

Happy Halloween! Ping, I miss trick or treating with the girls, they got too old, whatareyagonnado? The replacement tradition of watching scary movies into the night while taking turns giving out candy (with the scary rat in the candy bowl, a tradition for over a decade) is not a bad way to go though.

I used to make them give me all their Twix bars, as "Daddy Tax."

Julie, the Sensible Chuckle mag made me laugh.

Haunting of Hill House on Nexflix is SO! FUCKING! GOOD! More of it tonight.

As for more badges on the site that, when spelled backward, is eulb, I love comments, I love RRs (which I assume I will never get there), I treasure the elusive EP, but badges just don't do it for me. I rarely even notice when one has been added.

More coffee coming up for the writer-type sitting over in the corner working the crossword puzzle with the help of Coma and Tose.

Anybody else need a drink of something or other?

I'll have you know I have NEVER finished a crossword puzzle in my life. I get like 5 words in and then realize I'd rather have angry bees shoved in my nose than finish.

Curves, thanks for the props on the horror story I've got on the site sometimes referred to as (fill in the blank) "In 1492, Columbus sailed the ocean _____."

Sara, I say sorry you are having trouble getting moving this morning, but I have that problem every morning. So you'll receive little sympathy from me. smile

Larry, nice to lend you eyes out as an editor. I too am a horrible proof-reader, but I try to solve the problem by editing the story ten thousand times (and two or three times after it gets posted) (if you listen closely you can hear the mods bitching about me now).

My day has unexpectedly improved. :)

Burrbin please.

yes. yes, we must.

Hey, how did you get in my hot tub?
Thanks for getting things running, Lyf, though I hope Bertha's sensitive internal filters pulled out the maple syrup. I like my köffee unsweetened. Because it is bitter, and because it is my köffee.

Crappy morning, all around. And the weather is supposed to be cold and snowy. Hand me the paper and I'll sit here in the corner and read quietly while I caffeinate up.

I have an idea of what the comp is. It has been described as big, and I am guessing the comp topic is "big," but the format is an ironic twist on the word.

And if I am right, then I am entering.

Congrats on your 6th anniversery here, Scott.

Keep that köffee coming. Sigh.

And it's a beauty. Loved it, Jeff.

Evening whiskey, please. Rye on the rocks.

Thanks Scott (and Gill too) for the kind words on the story on the blew site. I'm finding flash horror has a different rhythm than flash erotica: you can give them a "money shot" (so to speak) in as many erotic flashes as you like, but with horror you've got to build a little more. A couple quieter, merely creepy stories in between the ones where you are shooting for all out, hard core scary (the horror version of the money shot).

A Safeway Select shot o' burrbin please.
It is a shockingly goood story. A well deserved award. Congrats, Hannah!!!
Thanks for the java, Curves.

Hanna's EP is well earned; that's a great story. Congrat's, Ms. K!

World Series is over. sad Boring series, except for that amazinglly fun 18 inning affair.

I have a horror flash up on the robin's egg colored site: https://www.storiesspace.com/stories/horror/dont-look.aspx

I am tired and have a LONG day ahead of me. A thermos of köffee please.

Several folks here on Lush will be interested in the winners of the last contest on StoriesSpace.com. This list was annouced on the 12th of Oct.

*****
"Congratulations are in order for all the entrants in our Stories Space Dirty Martini 420 writing competition. The overall quality of submissions was excellent, and the stellar work of our talented and creative members made the judging panel's job a difficult one. However, after much deliberation, we are pleased to announce the winners:

1. The Right Tonic by Paperboy
2. Good Time Blues by Welshdreamer42
3. Whatever by Ping

There was a three-way tie among the Top 10, so we expanded it to Top 12. The runners-up (listed alphabetically by title) are:

• Black Birds by LloydOxton
• A Farewell Drink by NymphWriter
• Interstate 420 by Survivor
• The Last Beginning by rantingsenior
• Last Note by Dreamcatcher
• Letter to a Friend by gypsy
• One More by meredith
• The Penguin Says by DenimAngel
• Shining On by steffanie

End of winners list"

This absolutely deserves mentioning on the site that is the color of blood. Lots of good writing over there. Fun contest!

For anyone in doubt that I have married the perfect girl: she voluntarily and enthusiastically watched FIVE HOURS of baseball with me Friday night!!! The last 10 innings of that glorious 18 inning Workd Series game Saturday night. Too bad the D's bullpen choked last night.

As for The Haunting of Hill House, I have only watched the first episode but loved it. Layla and two good friends of mine we saw last night have seen the whole thing and all loved it (they were, alas, unable to talk about it lest they spoil it for me).

Gill's back! Yay!

I'll have a burrbin, lotsa ice. It's hot here.
Saw Halloween and really enjoyed it. I loved the original, and expected to be disappointed. It wasn't a game-changer like the first one, but it was solid and competently made.

The previews for The Possesion of Hannah Grace look terrifying.

I put the whole thing down my throat and pull it out along my teeth with no kernels remaining.

That made me laugh.

I spiral my way across the cob, rotating as I go. Yes, I am pretty messy eating it. No, it doesn't bother me.
Köffee as always, Bill.

Did not sleep much. (Yawn.)

Friday night, but I think date night will consist of ordering Chinese, snuggling up with LJ and watching scary movies. Neither of us feel like going out.

Still struggling with the latest horror yarn. Staying wthin 1000 words is sometimes a hard nut to crack.

Snow on Pikes Peak now. It's pretty. Peaceful.

Enjoy the weekend all.
Thanks for setting us up Curvy!

Nice to see you here, Sensual Lady. Congrats on the win. I look foorward to checking out your stories.

Tonya, I've been meanning to ask you since yesterday - you were bathing kittens!? That sounds frighteningly cute. Except for the you-getting-scratched part.

Hey, it just occured to me last night, concerning the red and blue site (we can say that over here, right?) hubbub last week, that those are also the colors of the US political parties. I wonder if anyone on blue who hadn't ever heard of red think there is some weird political split between the two?

Back to writing horror. I reallly enjoyed writing the Taos story though. I will most definately keep my hand in the erotica game.

Köffee please.
Lyf, let me buy you a beer!

And Ping, you magnificent bastard, one as well!

Wannabe doesn't stop in here too much, but if he does, sure, a beer for him too!

I've never read the Sensual Lady before. Guess I need to now.

Tonya, thanks for getting Bertha a-brewin'. I'lll take a cuppa.

I'm off to change Stetson to Tony Llama. Go ahead, laugh away at my lack of brand name knowledge of cowboy paraphenalia. At least I got the motel room right (cuz I spent the night there).
Great list of writers. Congrats to Lyf, Wannabe and Sensual Lady (whom I've never read, but will now). And to the rest of the top ten!
Alaskan cruise, and it's what we plan to do on our honeymoon!

Atttend a live baseball game or live football game?

Have tried and tried Atlas Shrugged, without success. It has some quotes I'd love to see in context, but couldn't Ms. Rand come up with a better name than 'Dagny Taggart'?

You're not missing anything.

I'm feeling a tad envious of...Jeff. No kidding. Just consider he has the lovely LJ by his side and almost as important, he has a great writing project percolating in what passes for his mind. Meanwhile, I'm striking out on writing ideas, anything even vaguely resembling initiative, and those two perennial lost causes,, talent and self-discipline. (sigh)

Thanks for getting the black sludge pecolating throuh Bertha, Curvy! I'll taake a cup.

I have lost my southwest cred. A reader--Trystin--pointed out that in Taos Hum he wrestled her knees apart with his Stetsons. Stetsons, it turns out, are a hat. I thought they were boots. I'll have to change it to Tony Lamas or something. I also left out the word car in a sentence, used the word fell twice in the same paragraph, and a couple other things. Gotta go in and change them soon.

As for the envy, Bill, I will admit that LJ is a keeper, and that I haven't been this creatively fertile since back when I started the Shards, a couple years ago. Trust me, raising my daughters and taking care of my Dad is no picnic. It was a very rough ride for a number of years. Having LJ Here helps enormously.

Köffee, please. And pork rinds!!!

Today has tried my patience ... I need a tailgater. Pretty please Rump
Howdy folks

Hey, my new story has pick-up truck sex in it! I thought of you - hope it improves your day. That tailgater is on me.
A handful of my friends know I am here. And I MET my wife here.

The fact that I write erotica, however, is becoming less secret by the day.

Someone cover verbal's ears and eyes.

Infinite Jest

I HEARD THAT!

If it makes you feel any better, I couldn't finish DFW's The Pale King.

Also on my couldn't finish list: Gravity's Rainbow, Don Quixote, the Alexandria quartet (didn't even get through the first one). Finnegan's Wake, but I think anyone who says they've read it is lying.

And Ulysses took me three tries.
I got a new piece of erotica up. 1200-ish words, but it is in spirit a flash fiction. A kinda X-Files-y story called The Taos Hum.
https://www.lushstories.com/stories/straight-sex/the-taos-hum.aspx

This one took a village, so thanks to all the people who provided a second set of eyes (sprite, Ping, Curvy, Julie, Layla).

This is, btw, a real motel (though called the M&M) in a real place (Des Moines, New Mexico), right next to the Capulin volcano crater (which I described in an opening paragraph I have since cut). And yes, I have had sex in the bed of a truck there. smile And yes, I heard the Hum.
