Yeah, there were a few long stretches in The Witch that were pretty much scripture and repenting wicked ways and nothing else. But it was sort of like a baseball game (weird analogy, stay with me here), where if you don't love the game, the long pauses between pitches are boring, but if you love the game, they are filled with suspense and strategy. I got REALLY scared several times during The Witch (more scared than Layla!), particularly the witch's appearance about halfway through (we looked her up - she's a Victoria's Secret model!).
Dug your story on Blue, Ping. Glad you are horror-marathon-ing through October - we have been doing that for a few years. We finished American Horror Story season 3 last night. I think we are gonna try the new Haunting of Hill Hoouse tonight. LOVE the book (best opening paragraph in horror ever, and one of the best in all of literature). Loved the first movie, hated the remake.

Layla just experienced her first winter drive through a (admittedly pretty mild) snowstorm, as we drove from Denver back here this afternoon. I was doing the driving, and I took it slow and safe. She was game, stoicly hunkering in the passenger seat as I dispensed winter driving tips. We are both home safe. And had BIG FUN with good friends in Denver last night.

I am getting a better sense of the Blue site. What I like: the slow pace of it. You can read and commment on nearly every story that comes in. And there are some good stories on it. What I don't like: the Forums are boring as fuck. Just not enough people. Which is why I keep coming back here.
My next story will be erotica, however (I have a new horror flash ready, but will wait for Monday) (and probably rewrite it 20 more times in the interim).

So the last several years we've tried to watch a scary movie every night of October, which is cool and all except you end up watching some God-awful movies (The Pretty Thing that Lives in the House, anyone?). This year we have defaulted to American Horror Story. It's pretty uneven - great ideas, but then goes zinging off in twenty different directions - but overall it's a lot better than I expected. So far the second season (Asylum) is my fave, but we've only seen the first three. Third season (Coven) definately has some game.

Big video training of a graphics programs they'd like everyone to use, and graphics are not my strong suit. I'm color-blind, to begin with!
