There was this TV programme that specialised in pussy, but I only caught a snatch of it

Ha!

It's called a cockatwo.

All of my poems started with handwritten lines in a bedside notebook. The best lines, imho, almost always came first.

Coming first is a good thing. smile

I make myself write everyday. I try for 300 words, don't always get there, but I usually make myself write something. I use a free MS Word clone called LibreOffice that I quite like. Finish it, fuck with it endlessly, then post, fuck with it some more after posting.

If I don't write nearly every day I don't get new ideas. I get ideas for what to write by writing.
My sorrows to all those afflicted by smoke and particulates from all the fires. Scary photo, Ping.

It is slightly hazy every moring here, with the sum rising slightly red (so I'm told, I sleep through sunrise). We have 1o fires in the state currently, but thhe radio this morning said most of the haze was due to West coast fires.

Sorry about the dentist, Tonya. Ouch!

Rough fucking morning, but beginning to improve. I have room for one more (large) cup of köffee though.

Barely writing. But I'm writing.
Congrats to the top three, and to the top ten. This was a great comp.
Pretend to be a woman. smile

Seriously, what others have said. Look at the Forums and read profiles of people you think are cool, and drop them a line. If you think they are cool, they might very well think you are cool.

I don't grok chatrooms, but that's probably a good place to start. And like Candy said, if you can write, write, post the poem/story, and seek out other writers.

Oh, and I love this little bit of advice:

What you like others might not and that's ok.
But in all honesty, disliking cyber humans is laughable.

Congrats to Hannah, aka Special K, aka Spesh, aka Tracy Flick, aka Bröwncöffee, for nabbing second place, and for writing a damn good story, contest or no contest.

Cngrats to Bill and Larry as well, for making the elite list in a very competative field.

And everybody else too, even if they aren't regulars here. Big fan of WWordwsmith, Gil, and RReality. I read buddha's story, he's quite good! I will seek out and read the 3rd place winner soon - I don't know him. New blood!

i suspect if Ping had been given 2500 extra words, he'd be in the finalists as well.

My own new story (now titled in my mind as part two of The Last Shard) is taking actual shape. I need to get this one exactly right.

Köffee please.

you didn't win this one, btw. there. wait's over. smile

PROOF that the voting is rigged.

Did she make your brown-eye blue?

No. She travelled to the beat of a different drum.

An anectdote: my parents went to a Rondstadt concert once, at a club. Some barefoot hippie chick came up to their table and asked them if she could bum a smoke. They gave her one.

Ten minutes later the barefoot hippie chick went out on stage. It was Linda.
Alcohol. I had to give up alcohol for three months because of meds I was taking recently, and it turned out to be surprizingly easy. Don't think I could do that with sex smile.

Post a picture or video of the first musical performer that set your heart a flutter.

* * * * *

For me, it was Deborah Harry from Blondie. And this was the exact moment I fell for her - performing Heart of Glass on American Bandstand.

Loved everything about her - high cheek bones, sparkling smile, smoky eyes, peroxide hair, and how she stood with her feet apart at the mic. Those legs! OMG.

I love Blondie, but my first crush was Linda Rondstadt.

Nicholson Baker all day long.

LOVE Nicholson Baker.

I don't consciously ape anyone else's style, but I can see the influences pretty plainly. Lots of Elmore Leonard, paticularly in dialogue and pace. Probably a little too much of Robert Parker's Spencer novels in my dialogue too - I kinda channel his Susan Silverman/Spencer conversations in my latest writing, maybe to a fault. Also really fond of the long looping sentences of David Foster Wallace and Michael Chabon, which finds its way into my own prose.

Great thread.
Eyes and smile absolutely. LJ can still melt me with her 1000 watt smile. It's a force of nature.
See, this is why I rarely enter contests. I can't handle the presure of waiting! The last one I was in I was trying to figure out what time zone the servers were in to see if maybe the contest results might be announced the day before in the US. Even today, it was one of the first things I checked online, and I'm not even in this one (though I do have a handful of favorites).

The sturm und drang of going back to school appears to have passed uneventfully. I always forget how nice it is to have the workday to myself.

Hey, Curvy, thanks again for getting Bertha going.

I'll have the usual. With a jalapeno on the side.
I'll join you in that drink, Gill. Haven't seen you around much lately. Good to see you again. I hope you are well.

Hey Sara, hey, S-Sass!

Youngest came back from her first day relatively intact. One girl was mean to her, but all else seemed cool.

Writing again. smile The block has lifted.

Three fingers of snake poison, barkeep.

Tw cen mt condensed.

At least you're not Comic Sans.

Finally done with the long distance thing! It is SO worth the wait. And in this case it was a long wait. Phone sex is not a substitute, but it sure does help. So does lots and lots of texting.

you're not my type.

What is your type?
Deeply sexy. Surprisingly intimate too, showing someone something so personal and private.
Since I almost always boringly order köffee, I'll take a splash of likker in iit this morning, barkeep.

Nice flash over on Blue too, Bill - read it this morning.

The kids are back at school! Youngest was very nervous getting out of the car - new school for her today. Here's hoping she has a fine day. People keep talking about wanting to relive their youth, but I think they forget how overwhelming and scary it can be to be a teen sometimes. I am frankly quite glad to be the age I am.

Seems like this contest has been going on forever. It'll be nice to see the results.

Hope everyone is doing well here, and best of luck for those who enter.

Every single time I see INFJ anywhere on the internet, I automatically think of Infinite Jest.

***edited to get your attention*** made me laugh nearly as much as your actual comment. Have you moved on to other books?

Fyi you asked this question before and 100% of respondents indicated chocolate. Duplicate threads are unnecessary.

The Monkey will remain forever enshrined in my memory as the "hot tub of cum" guy. He should be given special status due to his question creation talents. He's a savant!
Guilty - I love avatars, mine and others! I think they give you a real window into a person (and yes, Reese, I am glad you changed yours).

Do you obsess about clues to personality and possible deep meanings hidden within someone else's avatar?
Watch Godzilla movies.

Listen to music.

Play with Lego.

These are things I also do when sober, though. smile

I love knit stockings or opaque thigh-high tights with skirts. Especially with long boots. I'm not into the patterned ones though.

I love this look - something about thigh-highs, even if opaque, drives me a little nutty. Especially with long boots.

Greetings to all who endured the unendurable 24 hours that was Monday and made it into Tuesday. (if you didn't endure or have gotten caught in a endless Monday loop, sorry about that)

The good news is we got in a shipment of Frito's. Tawny says her Grandmother will whip up a batch of her road-kill chili so folks can beat the heat with a heaping helping of Frito's and chili. The bad news we only got one bowl so you'll need to take turns.

To wash all that down, Big Bertha is ready to pump out the hot coffee and boiling water to help get ya going. Once you've arrived, waiting for you will be our incomparable beers, wines, and fine lickers. So whadda ya wanna drink?

For a quick relaxing read while you're scarfing down your Frito Pies, check out my latest insult to good taste and English letters over on Stories Space, the reorganized Sacre Bleu site. It''s all about a thick-headed old blind vet going one-on-one with iPhone technology. It's only a bit over 200 words and supposed to be funny...honest.

I LOVE Frito pie. Every time I make chili, the kids knnow that the next day is Frito pie day (I usually bake it like a casserole, though I am aware of the alternate strategy, where you dump Fritos in a bowl, then add some chili) (which is basically the recipe for the casserole).

I will get to your super-Flash today, Bill. Finding a little more time to read and write lately, though not much.

Köffee please.
A few friends in real life know. I definately have vanilla friends that would be surprised.
