The magazine now wants to call the story Reprise. I am not too fond of that title, but fuck it, I'll say yes. Pretty picky for a zine who isn't paying me. I also realized that this is a feminist erotica site that was cool with the word " slut" in the dialogue multiple times. It should be pointed out she refers to herself with the word, the guy doesn't say it. Still....

Last night's dinner was referred to as "that pork glop" by one of my daughters. It was leftovers: angel hair pasta, sauteed in butter till it's crisp, then adding ground pork and diced green peppers and a few other veggies. Not my best effort.

I'm gonna stop writing for a week or two (other than notes, I never stop making notes). My imminent departure for Laylaland, followed by Layla's imminent arrival in Verballand, followed by Rockygrass, and the prep required for 4 days of camping there, are gonna keep me busy. Plus, during Rockygrass it will be my birthday! And not just any birthday, but a certain milestone birthday that makes me officially old as fuck.

Just wanted to say that I know I told everyone I would not be advertising my stories anymore. I had several emails over the last few days from regular readers saying they didn't know I had put out any new stories. They counted on my emails to let them know it. So after getting numerous emails from friends about their new stories, I broke down and sent one out. Hope it didn't offend anyone that I went back on my word. I will try to keep it calm in the future.

ADVERTISE! I just put a post on a promo thread about a new story, put it on my blog, and spammed out an email. If people don't like mass emails (and a lot don't) it's easy to opt out. Some people--few, admittedly--learn about new stories only via spam sometimes.

Okay, I am tying up the Shards with a big two story punch.

The first story is up (heh). It's called Safe Word, part 1. I tried to do a few things wiith it. I tried to make the sex very hot and very dirty. Partly because I think erotica needs to be hot, in addition to whatever else you are trying to do in the story.

I also went for a dark ending, though this is only part 1, and things will brighten for our couple in part 2. I wanted to show them feeling disconnected from each other, at a crossroads in their relationship. The aftermath (not a word of which is written yet) will hopefully pull together a lot of the strands threading though all the Shards, as He and She examine their relationship, the things that bring them together, the things that might pull them apart.

I also wanted to make the reader genuinely uncomfortable by the end, as uncomfortable as the couple feels.

Anyway. Here is is:
