The other site I belong too has the pages set up to be about one page in a Word document, and you can flip through the pages, or click on view all. I do not know if I explained it well or not!!
For me personally, I love how this site has the story all laid out for me as that is the way I prefer it. But I can understand how not everyone might enjoy this.

I say get rid of it. I've been on it a few times, it is nice. BUT, with all the bad thoughts behind it, it is in my opinion not worth the trouble.
Is it possible, to alter it a little? Instead of top authors, can we have category stories of the week? One story picked from each category (or the top five categories). Or possibly a Story Moderators Blog, where they tell all about their favourite story they read over the past week?

Web cam, I use it almost daily to talk to my neice and nephew in the States, less glitches and freezes than MSN. When I get a thought in my head, I will sit in front of the computer, and be totally oblivious to what is around me. A Dream to Build a Life On, I wrote in a two or three days. My story I just finished I wrote entirely on my phone, in the taxi to and from work, in the stair wells, during breaks, even a few paragraphs during class. It just would not get out of my head and I couldn't think of anything else till it was finished.
I can write pretty much anywhere as long as I am hooked up to the internet.

I am guilty of wanting to submit long stories in one go. Simply because that is how I enjoy reading them, and not have to wait for the next installment, or take time to click to a new page etc... (I am very lazy sometimes!!!!!!) What you say does make sense though.
And I agree with you. Is it possible to have a counter of how many words, or how many pages would be fabulous!

If I am being honest about it, there is only two people who I really care about their opinions. Mine and one other person. If they say it is bloody brilliant, then I know I hit the nail on the head. If I think it is good enough to give to them to read, then I know I am impressed enough with it. And trust me, they have no problems giving it back to me saying, "Woman, it is pure shite!"
If anyone else says what I write is decent, good, captivating or any other words along these lines is just gravy.
