what is wrong with people??????

just download it onto your phone ffs. This is the 21st century.

But there's nothing like the physical book in your hand. I have over a hundred on my kindle but the couple of hundred or so on my bookshelves are much more precious. Also, the physical book is much easier to use. Just stick in the bookmark and pick it up again later. Kindle... fiddly buttons and scrolls and screen taps... annoying at times!

Back to the original post - I did that with a newspaper once. Had an annoying work colleague who would look over my shoulder at break times to share my paper. Cheeky bugger asked me to turn back when I turned over the page so I just tore it down the middle and handed him one half to read. Never did it again" Turns out he was a Guardian reader - says it all!

I've had mixed feelings about the revival. I was quite excited at the start and I do like the new series as far as I've watched. However, as time goes on it feels like a different show in so many ways that I kind of see it as a semi-reboot and therefore kind of its own thing rather than a real continuation. I rewatched some old favorite episodes (mostly featuring Tom Baker, the fourth Doctor) when NF Canada had them for a while and I can't think of any of the current series that I like as much as those old classics.

I actually met Colin Baker at a Dr Who convention in Inverness about 25 years ago. Think he was the 6th or 7th Dr. I was having a drink in the lounge bar of the then Caledonian Hotel while waiting to meet a client. He was taking a break. We chatted briefly; quite a nice guy.
Never been much of fan of Dr Who. I thought it passed its sell-buy date years ago but saying that I am pleased that a female has been given the role. The BBC is a very sexist organisation as the revelation today of the differences between the top male and female salaries show. I hope that today's news will bring about a good shake up of this monolithic waste of public funds.

I wouldn't mind betting that the favourite to take over the role a while back - Kris Marshall was sidelined because of the impending storm over pay disparity.
Just read somewhere that May is National Masturbation Month so don't forget to send someone a card...
Tasted hummus once... never again!

On a similar note, I have noticed that the price of Avocado Pears has shot up recently and have since learnt there is a shortage. Now that is a disaster... just love avocado with prawns and prawn marie rose sauce. Goes down well a glass of with Pinot Grigio too!

I love tarantulas (I don't have a pet one)! Like a decade ago, my wife and I were hiking in Picket Wire Canyon (dinosaurs tracks!) during tarantula migration season, where the males are wandering around looking to get laid. We saw over 20 of them. Scary, but so beautiful. I grew unafraid enough over the afternoon to get really close to several of them, though I never picked one up. The colors are amazing.

Unfortunately I've never seen one in the wild. In general though they are mostly quite docile and very few are so aggressive as to attack humans. As a general rule those tarantulas from South and Central America are the least aggressive of the species, docile and easy to handle. African and Asian ones can be quite aggressive. We have an Orange Baboon tarantula and we have to use special gloves to handle it when we clean out its terrarium. Its bite is not dangerous but it will require a visit to A&E to get intravenous antibiotic treatment and it will leave your hand numb for many hours!

As for handling

Hold gently but firmly between the Cephalothorax and abdomen. It will not be able to bite. If you have reared a tarantula from being a spiderling to a young adult and handled it regularly you will find them to be very tame.

On a serious note.... you can actually buy your own ant colony. Ant colony starter packs - Queen ant plus 20 worker ants, along with formicariums and accessories for less that £100.00. I saw a few at a trade show a couple of weeks ago while buying some food - Crickets and mealworms for my tarantulas.

Supposedly they are quite easy to keep. Not my scene though, I prefer the hairier and more scarier kind, but each to his own!

This is a Mexican Flame Knee and we call her 'Sexy Legs'

Is it true that Seattle is America's serial killer capital? cough*Sprite*cough

It's Battle Creek, Michigan.........

That's where Kellog's has its headquarters!
Been many times and just about seen the lot. It's not a patch on Edinburgh. The people are much nicer there and it's a much safer place to be as well.
Never been to Hollywood but been loads of times to Paris. Regardless of the period I would always go for Paris. Romance, culture, scenery and erotica all rolled into one.

Indeed, the party I voted for didn't get the required amount of votes for a seat in last week's parliamentary elections in the Netherlands. Not sure what you mean by "geld moet kort" though. It's Dutch for sure, but makes no sense (to me at least, in this context).

Money must be short - was my comment on their being nowhere to sit in Parliament

Crap, no seats in parliament once again #ppnl

Geen zetels in het Nederlands parlement? - geld moet kort
When is that woman going to stop banging on about independence? Her budget deficit this year is £15b. North Sea oil tax revenues have fallen from £1.8b to £60m over the last 12 months.
The FAI (The Fraser Allander Institute) have told her “It is simply not possible to operate under independence with a deficit at this scale – full stop.” Yet she is still adamant that this is the way forward for Scotland.

She talked far more sense as Wee Jimmy Krankie!

but girls having to wear ties?!

Well it is the age of equality and ties go well with uniforms as well as enhance the school establishment identify.

Are school uniforms still a thing in the UK?

Yes, and long may it continue to be so!
Drives me mad to see books defaced this way.

Unless it's a tax book - which I use a lot for constant reference, or other working reference book, I never do it. Bookmarks are free in Libraries and most book shops, such as Waterstones, always have a pile of them at the tills so there's no excuse.

I also hate to see grubby finger marks on pages too!
The question is, who swapped the envelopes around?

Was it Donald Trump taking his revenge against some actors who have been criticising his policies. (He wasn't tweeting for a couple of hours and has no alibi so he could have been there.)
Was Putin behind it?
Perhaps it was Kim Jong Un?

or

Maybe it was something simple like Warren Beatty missing his appointment at Specsavers!
I'm with Buz on this one - leave well alone. There's a potential for a whole load of hurt here. I have seen families torn apart when something like this has happened

Unless there is a medical reason in your lifetime or a history of monogenetic genetic disorder in the family then bury this silly idea once and for all.

... how much longer before Donald Trump is facing impeachment? Or will he change (one can only hope.)

Good question. We have actually got a sweepstake going on in the office on how long he will remain President. The closest one to his term office ending takes the pot. I am banking on two and half years.
Congratulations to prize winners Oceanrunner, VirgoGo and Saucymh and congrats to all who got a mentions as well.
Some are from pure imagination and real life experiences but I am also increasingly finding that many ideas are coming from other people's real life experiences.
