I would beat up the other man.
Mirrors are useful when you feel like photographing your butt.
I have never not looked before utilising. I was raised better than that and it's not even a seat issue. You know germs can leap up inside you? ALWAYS LOOK! HOW COULD YOU NOT LOOK?!
I'll have a Fürball since sprite rejected my advances. You will find me in the East wing, writing poetry and drinking extravagantly while drowning my sorrows in south American men.
INDIAN CAMP
I did not enjoy this. The opening seemed a little stilted, it was like he was forcing me to imagine the exact scene of exactly how they got into the boats when in the whole story it hardly mattered. I don't know if he was trying to be super black and white so it sounded like a child's narration but if so, the vocabulary didn't match up. I disliked the character of the father. Way too matter of fact with little compassion. The whole thing felt like it had no emotion in it and very little humanity. The guy killing himself was just an awful twist. I feel like this story wasn't written to give the reader any kind of satisfaction or food for thought. It was just a celebration of bleakness and shock. It made life seen utterly awful. Zero gold stars for this.
Edit: dialogue seemed way unnatural at times
A DAY'S WAIT
I liked this one better. The sentences felt short and descriptive which really added a lot of tension. Having read the above first, I found myself naturally fearing the worst. The end of it was very sweet, very human and I mean the very end like the last line. It doesn't thrill me though. I don't feel like I've discovered some fabulous writer whose work I want to relentlessly consume. There's the bleakness again.
I will try to compose a list at some point but any of you who haven't read Roald Dahl's short stories really ought to. These aren't kids books; they were written for adults. My personal favourites are:
Skin
Galloping Foxley (inspired one of my stories lol)
Lamb to the Slaughter
Mrs. Bixby and the Colonel's Coat
Parson's Pleasure
Yours,
Tracy K Flick of Pretentiousville
Don't flatter yourself. Chocolate. A million times, chocolate.
I am so shipping Verbal and Ping's bromance. It's a good job I'm not male or I'd be jealous and demand on being given magnificent bastard status lol. Btw what exactly is in a Furball? I'll have one anyway. I don't even remember what's in a Hannah.
WHAT IS LIFE WHERE IS LAUGHTER
Bill, I'm still very honoured that you asked for my opinion. Larry's story over on SS is definitely worth checking out.
I'll have lemönade.
I gotta read entries too! Köffee, please.
Happy birthday to the best bartender I've ever met. (what, i mean he named a drink after me so until someone else does that he's my #1)
I. DETEST. PUBIC. HAIR. UGH.
Negative figures draws the line for me. Sorry guys!
