I forgot to add that they must not be too bright either. So I can easily manipulate them.

I'm reading Dark Places by Gillian Flynn and I noticed she uses "OK".

She's wrong, ok?

I am honestly feeling so attacked right now.

It's the plural, ellipses.

Isn't it ellipsises?

You're both right! Have just checked my copy of the OED and aneurysm can also be spelt aneurism. Its just an alternative.

Thanks. I just looked it up, too. It seems the spelling with Y is more common and more used, but both are acceptable. In truth, I guessed, and the spellcheck didn't correct me so I assumed I guessed correctly.

... [In] the realm of dialogue, people do say the word okay. However, if you have a character texting (which some authors have done, and rather well I might add) they might just type "K" or "OK" in regards to said text.

Yeah, of course. There are no end of exceptions that can be made for text speak.
Thanks for the input. I didn't do any research, I just know it bugs me.

I will add, my main annoyance is when people write "Ok" or "ok", rather than the capitalised version. However, as people are using the word neither as an abbreviated nor acronymised (pretty sure I made that word up) form of anything (even if it does have obscure origins), there's no need to write it like that—just write the full word! If nothing else, it's more aesthetically pleasing.
"Ok" is not a word.

When you are writing prose, please take the extra three milliseconds to write the full word, okay?

I don't think the shortened version, OK, is ever necessary, but certainly not in general prose or in dialogue. Sometimes you will see it on signs or written on notes, but not in general use. Please stop it before you give me an aneurism.

(OK can also be confused with the two-letter abbreviation for Oklahoma).

Historical fan fiction like this, *should* be ok I think. A lot of people are at it (which doesn't necessarily mean it's legal to do so).

Yeah, I know we don't generally allow fanfic for legal reasons, but I was reading somewhere lately that you can do pretty much whatever the hell you want with stuff like Shakespeare, Austen and Dickens, but it wasn't anything official.

I'll do a little digging myself.
Are we allowed to do Jane Austen fanfic? (That's a serious question).
I think my whole sex life is now categorised as "historic".

Honestly though, if someone doesn't like the category, don't write or read in it.

This applies to any category. It isn't a matter of, "I wouldn't take part in that category so it shouldn't exist." I don't read or write Lesbian stories but I still see the value of that category.

When I voted, I knew I had no interest in reading or writing Revenge stories, but it didn't influence my decision. I voted based on whether I thought this new category would bring value to the site. Does it fill a gap? Will it appeal to a large enough number of readers and writers to make it worthwhile? Is it a clearly defined category?

If we take the view that those who aren't interested could just ignore it, we could have hundreds of categories with a handful or stories in each and mall numbers of readers. Eventually categories become a pointless exercise.

This vote didn't exactly demonstrate an overwhelming enthusiasm for Revenge stories.

This was the WWF entrance music for the tag team Too Cool (and Rikishi), one of whom was the pro-wrestler Grand Master Sexay (less well known than his partner Scotty 2 Hotty).

The authors, at present, do decide for themselves but in the confines of the 'pre-determined' categories. An open category may allow a more 'creative' genre perhaps...

Describe to me a story that does not fit within ANY of the THIRTY-EIGHT categories we currently have, and I may concede the point.

Most of the authors I've interacted with here on Lush will write their story and THEN decide which category is most suitable. Sometimes it's more than one, but it's never none.
Quote by purpleshade
How about a 'blank' category, where the author decides for themselves which genre to use...

You already do decide for yourself...

Medieval lesbian princesses

I'm imagining the daring adventure of a character suspiciously like Brienne of Tarth, who rescues the beautiful damsel before engaging in copious amounts of cunnilingus.

It writes itself, really.

Could there be a nerds category, devoted to nerds having sex? I know a few people who might be interested.

Are we talking D&D role-play sex, doing it in the chemistry lab and steamy games of strip chess? I'm in.

Honestly, I know this is probably going to sound a little stupid since we have "group sex", but I'd really like if we just had a "threesome" genre. Because a threesome is not a group, a group is a group and a threesome has three. Three people is not a group. You see what I mean? So it would be nice to split the genre.

In mathematical terms, there is exactly one group of order (or "size") three, namely the cyclic group of order three, usually represented as the set {0,1,2) under addition modulo 3, with 0 the identity.

So three is a group.

Interestingly, there are 267 groups of order 64. That's what I call an orgy.
