I was born in Hawaii, mostly because that's where Mom was at the time. I don't remember anything about Hawaii, because my family moved to California before I started school. I attended school in California through my BSc, and did my Master's in Kansas.
I married in graduate school. It lasted five years, until work took us across the country from each other. That combined with some personal pressures caused us to decide to end things while we were friends. We are still friends.
I work in biotech. If they'd pay as well to play english horn as they do to juggle nucleotides I'd do that instead.
Interests I'm a musician. I also like doing things with yeasts, like bread-making, beer-brewing and cider-making. One of these days I'd like to try winemaking.
Aside from those things, I'm a voracious reader.
Favorite Books The Baroque Cycle, Cryptonomicon, Fall of Giants, The Eye of the Needle, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (all five books of the trilogy).
