There are lots of things to take into consideration.
I think that you would need a support network around you. The reaction of family, friends and work may be negative. You might want to relocate if it's too much, start a new life.
I also think that you have to be passable as a female, not a guy with boobs. You have to live with it 24/7, and folk can be cruel. As a cd you can change your persona with clothes, as a trans that's not possible.
Personally, I think this is something that should have been wanted since youth. They aren't an accessory that can be changed when the mood takes you. Unless you have implants, it involves hormone treatment.
Try and find good and bad results, don't just look for the good ones. Get a balanced view.

Yes it is relative. I think it has a lot to do with age and how you pick your friends.
When I was younger, attraction had a lot to do with friendship. It might not always have been the only thing, but it did play a part. When I was your age the % would have been high. As you get older, the % drops.
