Thanks Gav! Way to go. All well so far , but just noticed that sometimes lush freezes for 2 to 5 mins and then unfreezes back again, checked with frends , they have the same problem. Happy lushing!

It's a work in progress man! Found another issue today with the possibility of causing stability issues.

Found two more bugs.

1 - The number of PM's showing on the top red bar does not update. Mine currently shows '2' but if I click to the front page it shows the correct stat of '0'.

2 - The forum stats are not showing any active users.

Yeah these are two non trivial issues to fix. I have the online count working now, but as someone else pointed out it shows when you are set to invisible. So in the short term i could just show the counts and no names if its a big concern.

Same thing two with the PM count. This isnt up to date, so may just remove the count?

A few people have noticed that buttons are missing / they don't have access to certain areas they used to.

It's because you need a new forum cookie.

So, if you do encounter issues, please log out of the forums (if you are actually logged in), then log back in again: https://www.lushstories.com/login.aspx?return=forum

Logged out and back in again - can only spot one minor bug.

The ‘number of friends online’ stat on the right side of the top red bar shows zero, but shows the correct figure outside of the forum.

Good point. I've removed the count from the forums.

Short-term this is how it will be, until we can have some shared storage between the sites.
...and we're back.

You will have to logoff and log back in again before the forum recognizes you again.

There will be issues, so please let me know anything you find wrong with the forums and story sites.

Bring back the BB's smile
While I investigate solutions around the recent stability issues, I will be shutting down the online messaging service.

This will effect the following:

* No Black Box message alerts
* No private chat
* No online label against users indicating whether they are logged in or not

Services shall resume shortly.
We use a widget provided by Amazon to delivery the story content to your device. There should be no reason this doesn't work for you.

I've read the specs again for this and based upon their advice, I've added some more tags to help the reader pick out the relevant meta data of the story.

Let me know if things improve for you.

and maybe a Gav-anator Award for those special individuals who keep the site running smoothly on the technical side...I know we have Bug Slayer but I'd guess there are some unsung heroes/heroines that deserve some recognition

Some would question smoothly

We do have a number of badges to recognize the achievements from our members and moderators in their efforts on running and improving the site.

On the Groups landing page all descriptions are shortened. All have the last word replaced with "...more", where "more" is a link. It would make more sense if only long descriptions would be shortened, but OK, at least the ellipsis makes it clear that something is left off.
On the My Groups page though the last word of the description is also left off, but there's no "...more" added, which is obviously a bug.

BTW, I believe I saw one of the new banners on the homepage about Groups, but I get the feeling that this part of the site is not/hardly maintained anymore. There's no follow up on bug reports, no fix or response, and the search option has been saying "coming soon" since Groups went live almost two years ago.

You have a keen eye, I'll give you that =d>

The more link should now be reinstated on the My Groups page.

I think the new scrolling banner on the front page is really well designed, and a nice bit of advertising.

However, we need to have the option to turn it off! My kids sometimes bounce into the room with no warning, and while I realize there are sexy pix all over the front page, with a no-ads gold membership they are all thumbnails. The new banner pix are pretty big and instantly recognizable. I like them, you shouldn't get rid of them, but there should be a way to turn it off or opt out. After all, we are already members, you don't need to seel us on the site.

Good point. I've added an option to hide (just above the slider) as well as an associated setting in your settings page.

I see this is an ancient thread that just got resurrected, so I'm going to make use of it being here.

Some of the rooms tend to fill up and stay full, and if you want in you have to keep trying. No problem; I see the purpose and point of having limited numbers of people in a room. But...

Sometimes I'll see someone who's in two or three rooms. Again, not a problem except if the same person is in two rooms that are already full and a third that's just kind of semi-full. What about a feature that notifies such people that they must log out of the rooms that are at 24 or more, or out of the other room. If they do not, they will be ejected from full rooms in the order in which they entered them, starting in 60 seconds (or some other arbitrary time) until the conflict no longer exists.

I don't necessarily have a problem with people being in more than one room, but when they contribute to filling a room to capacity, they should either be engaging in that room or get out and let others in.

Does that make sense? Am I just being a cranky old youkidsgetouttamychatroom! guy?

Let me mull this over for a bit. If someone isn't contributing to a popular room, then their seat shouldn't be guaranteed.

And no I don't mean having to create my own chatroom.

There aint enough pixels in the world to host that room!
iOS has always been a tricky beast to stream files to. i have spent countless hours with my iPad connected to my proxy and sniffing the requests its making to diagnose the issue.

i have uploaded a new patch today, are things better in iPhone land?

btw can you also watch the movies we host here too?
Thanks everyone for your birthday wishes.

Another year goes by, another notch on the belt. The white exterior maybe worn and fading, but the man inside is still a kid at heart.

Does choosing the hide story option for one of your own stories only hide it from the list of your stories, or can it also disable the link?

I'd have assumed and expected the latter, but I was experimenting with hiding a few of mine that I'm not as happy with.

I hid them, logged off, cleared the cache, shut down my browser, and then went back to lush.

When I went to my profile (logged out, so not as "me"), the stories were not visible from my profile, as I'd expect them not to be. However, they were still accessible from pre-existing links / bookmarks.

Do I have to wait longer for them to be truly hidden? Or is there not a way of truly hiding them short of deleting them?

thanks,

OR

If you hide a story then its effectively removed from the site. All links to the story are gone and if you did bookmark it, this should still return a 404 page. However Story Mods will still get to view hidden stories.

Hope this helps.

Is this a new thing for non paying Lushies? I just got stopped
From sending a DM as "reached my daily limit". Boo.

This is nothing new. We have imposed a daily limit of 10 messages a day for non paying members.
Hope this helps, gav

Just in the last month or so I've noticed that I'm either not getting email notifications at all or getting them very slowly for threads I've chosen to watch.

It seems to be getting worse too...

I love to participate in the Matching Photo and Hardcore Matching Photo threads and have now had to resign myself to checking manually because I am not getting timely emails or not getting them at all.

Any ideas? I haven't tried unwatching then watching them again because I still get sporadic notifications but can try that if needed.

Thanks,
Patrick

Hi Patrick
Everything seem's normal from our end. The last email that was sent to you from this topic was 2017-04-07 12:17:13.620 (UTC). Are they appearing in your promotions tab ( )?
Thanks

Wow thanks! It looks like my request has been implemented.

Does it take a while to compile? Right now my profile badges are showing the number 1 instead of the correct one. E.g. The author badge shows "1," but I've written more stories than that.

You are quite correct. These numbers are just placeholders until the badge process runs. This is normally around 4am UTC for the keen viewers at home.
In light of today's outage, we need to install some new hard drives on our database server.

This maintenance will start around 4pm PST and could take upto 3 hours. It can take that long to clone 300gigs.

Maybe if Sprite deleted one of her photo albums we could halve that time ?
Quote by ginger86
I know t hat now lush must charge to be member because you have so many members and although i uerstand the need to charge
why do you keep all those who haven't even posted here in years? i have seen people on friends lists that not seen here for years

We have to enforce paid membership on things that costs money. So think image uploads, PM's etc these all incur a cost be it storage or backup space.

In fact the server went down today for ~4 hours because we ran out of disk space on the database server. We are having to double our disk space on that server now to accommodate future growth.

Wow, I have never been so close to a Magical_felix outburst before. All of the positiveness of these posts have been brought down in one fell swoop by your petty grammatical pickup. This remark was uncalled for.

Might I suggest you reboot your 2017 and show us the new Magical_felix. Grow some empathy, love & feeling, ditch the hate and sarcasm.

Are both sides of the collaboration eligible for the badge, or only stories for which the collaborator is not the "author of record," so to speak?

The way is is today, a story has a single author but can have multiple co-authors. Its these co-authors who are credited with the Collaborator badge.

Does it make sense for the author to also receive this? I guess?
Quote by YourAddiction
Is there a way that the blue site can have some of these new features too?

Done
Quote by oceanrunner
I think the "Collaborative" badge would be a great one. It throws the author who's not the author of record a little bone, and it also might inspire some fun collaborations. It's very easy to hunker down and get in a certain rut, writing your own stuff (nothing wrong w that), but I've had a lot of fun and learned a lot in my three collaborations, all of which took different forms, w VirgoGo.

That is, the badge might produce a very positive kind of response as people who are motivated by such things (me included) look to earn it.

The new badge should be available now to the lucky recipients. Now with any new badge, its surely going to annoy the current crop on Omni holders lol

Give 'em a badge too. You know people love badgers smile

I think you're just after the "Inventor of new badges" badge
Quote by oceanrunner
don't know how long it's been around, but being able to see the "stories coauthored" by the author whose page you're on is very cool!

Can we have an opt-out for the 'sound an alert when a friend logs on'? As far as i know, this alert is triggered regardless of your privacy status. I know if you're on a PC you can press shift when you log on and this keeps you anonymous, but that's not possible on a phone, which is what i usually use. Sometimes i log on for a fleeting moment, and then i'm away again, so the alert is pretty pointless, except for making me look ruder than i am smile

thanks x

i'm sorry Jen, that incessant beeping is probably caused by me

i have added a checkbox to the login page so you can go incognito from your mobile device, does this help?

I would love an easily accessible toggle switch that would allow me to disable all images that appear on the site. I suspect this would only work for premium members, since for this to make any sense, you'd have to be able to browse the site ad-free to begin with.

I know various types of images can be disabled in settings (forum signatures, for instance), but I see enabling and disabling those pictures as more of a long-term or permanent setting depending on your general preferences. They require some digging and navigating. The idea would be that this would be an easily changeable and universal on/off switch, a bit like the "visible/invisible" or "away/available" online status choices.

I generally like the images on the site, but when I check out the site on my phone in a reasonably public place, I'd like to know that nothing untoward is going to pop up on my screen. (E.g. I'm on a bus or train and I want to check out my timeline or something).

So this would make disappear avatar images, the pictures on stories, images on forums, pix posted to one's profile, etc etc.

Thanks for considering it!

have you tried this setting? maybe there are a few areas this doesn't work on, but if so let me know so i can fix it up.
